Can't believe I first experienced this game nearly 20 years ago. Fond memories of LAN matches with my friends and fighting strangers on dial-up internet. Udo Kier as Yuri is still great.
Ya know, the moment that woman says for every 1 conscript that dies, there are a thousand more to take his place, it really doesn't make sense until later in the game. When I first played this game I started as the Soviets. Big fan of their tech lol. When I got the Cloning Lab, that's when I realized the Soviets had the most dangerous upper hand in the war. I know it's just a game, but imagine the skies are alive and Red with 10's if not 100's of thousands of clone conscripts just pushing to take objectives quickly. Leaving the rest of the Soviet forces to be tank commanders, naval officers and even just the citizens of Russia. No fear of losing loved ones on the front lines because they are just clones. I might be American, but god Damn do I love these Soviets lmfao
In the mission against Yuri there is a spot that all the opposing units go through, I just had the Kirovs just continuously drop bombs on that spot,build forces in peace, and then win.
I captured the hill top Tesla Reactors and then built in entire network of Tesla Coils with some Flak Cannons and then had the Kirovs force bomb the cliffside next to the hill going up in case stragglers got through. Nothing got through that. The mission is also easier than it looks when attacking by ground. Zoom unfortunately isn't very good at this game.
In Level 8 the mission can be easily shortened when just nuking the weather control device with a nuclear weapon. Same in level 10 with the Cronosphere, IIRC. The WCD anyway is too weak for that at that time and will be immediately destroyed. I know, that is not so much fun like "classical fighting".
As a kid I couldn't beat the mission against Yuri. But I eventually figured out you can use your starter Kirovs to take out the Kremlin if you just hug the edge of the map and take out a few flak cannons along the way.
The last Mission for me was so easy i just Hijack a Allied Base And Build A Lightning Storm combining it with the nuclear Missile It was So easy Hahahahahahaha

I used Yuri to hijack a schoolbus, filled it with my engineers and sent them to the enemy base and they were just let in without problems. :D
