Buy and Hold does not mean you cannot buy more of that stock. The other point is one needs to be God to know the when the highs and lows will arrive in a market though in hindsight very easy to make those comments. There is a higher probability to make money if one stays for the long term if stock fundamentals are intact. Nobody can predict the stock price trajectory. If anybody claims so, he is misleading. Most of the Nifty 50 are anyways junk who haven't demonstrated significant growth in fundamentals rather have shown returns as a result of PE expansion. Also on MF managers, churning their portfolios a lot, they need to show short term gains to keep inflows coming otherwise people won't invest in them. Such is fickle nature of these investment managers.
In my opinion, very few people became rich by booking protit on 50-100% gains. It's only and only compounding that makes investors wealthy. Offcourse, right stock, value is of most important.
I must thank ET NOW for delivering outstanding content on investing which will immensely benefit small retail investors like us in a theory of value or growth investing for a period of pretty long time. Amazing job 👏 🙌
Great analysis, thank you! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
We are looking this kind of videos...Great Thanks....I lost 20% profits and currently having 9% profits with buy and hold strategy....I am also thinking 100% not correct buy and hold strategy...We have to book some profits as markets are up...👍👍👍
You are shaking my confidence..on buy and hold strategy...i have never sold any of my stock for the past 2 years. I agree with some of the points...but still would like to buy and hold...not sure whether I am wrong or correct.. first time feeling bad after seeing your video sir 😔
Apologies, didn't want anyone to feel bad. But in almost 2 decades of investing, a lot of changes have helped me function better & most of these videos are built around sharing those learnings and also receiving advice from others. To illustrate: 20 years back - I would pick stocks only if it satisfies the 70% of NCAV < CMP criteria -- obviously now I don't even look at that 10 years ago - I would have scoffed at momentum, now I understand its utility far better 5 years ago - I would use only financials, now financials is only 40% of the investment thesis There's a lot happening and as the old zen master said, "You can't learn if your cup is full".
There are different viewpoints. Few say it works few it won’t. What I suggest Is keep track of your investments and keep a stop loss ( in case something goes wrong and maximum % downside you could tolerate is breached) .
There is never one size fits all. Investors must take care of various factors including their risk factors to invest. SIP is one which reduce the dependence of timing the market.
@6.19 cannot agree with this point of wont invest more if company is cheap and good....warren buffet would do and so do long term invester should do..:)
Still not sure what to do, after 2020 market crash i entered the market and followed positional strategy, made few good profits doing momentum trades. But from 2021 onwards i have been a buy and hold investor. Now in current correction my portfolio is almost flat from the peak of 30%+ but i have not even touched my portfolio for selling since i believe in those companies. Few people on youtube like anant ladha says buy and hold should only be done in MFs and in stocks one should always do positional trading. I dont know how good will that be in the long term.
This is an enriching video. Of course individual goals and risk appetite as well as ability to digest short term losses will determine whether buy and hold is a good strategy for investor. One size will not fit all. However, this is a very good video, and since genius is a new platform we will have to monitor how genius performs over at least the next 3 years. Currently it is showing some percentage loss.
It is impossible to predict markets and wife,so I have split my stocks in two sections 1 buy and forget stocks 2 sell on30%profit and find new stocks. Is my strategy correct, please comment.
Great video sir. The content provides great insight to how one should approach as the dynamics of life and the market changes. I have a question in general of how one should approach new goals. Let suppose I have a mutual fund catering to a goal which is for 10 -12 years horizon. For a new goal for with a similar tenure, should one increase the SIP amount, or choose a new mutual fund. What can be one's approach?
Thank you for your kind appreciation. The simpler you keep your goal, the more effective it's likely to be. May I suggest you use an excel sheet and watch these two videos that'll give you a detailed understanding of financial planning ruclips.net/video/6eSnbIuZ9xc/видео.html ruclips.net/video/LadrcSBcauA/видео.html
In these modern and uncertain times pure buy and hold strategy does not work. Times have changed and our strategy should also change wherein you will have to venture into trading as well along with investing.
People follow Warren Buffett blindly when he regret holding coca cola long and not exiting TESCO fast enough. People should always keep open mind. Billionaires success stories are never repeatable otherwise all of us would be billionaires. Rather they come and heavily preach survivorship biases.
No investment is worth it if you lose your sleep over it. What's the point of all these strategies if they keep you up at night? This is the reason why I just look for high quality companies and stick with them.

best is to invest in index funds .. in index funds buy and hold Will work
True. There is risks with individual stocks buy and hold but the results can also be way above returns or way below returnd of buy and hold index
Agree bro

I dont know how good will that be in the long term.
95% of the times I have followed buy and hold.. and average out if I get good opportunity.
But Il start booking profits occasionally..
Buy and hold is now buy on dips and rebalance on opportunities
This is an eye opener video, one of the best I have ever watched.
Thank you, Pavan Kumar. Glad you found it useful
Kindly put a video explaining the retail participation in market . It's impact and how it's changed thru years.

Few people in India live as long as Buffet & Munger... So frankly.. buy & hold forever for most... Wouldn't appeal..
The worst format for investment
Informative. Thank you
