One of my young, female relatives just bought a jacket in a similar green. It looks like a standard denim jacket, but the bottom (below a high waist) is almost like a ruffled peplum/flounce, which makes it a bit more feminine.

Also, overlockers and sergers are the same. Overlocker is what is usually called in England whilst people from North America usually call them sergers. The machine you were talking about is a Coverstitch machine which overlocks on one side and sews on the other 😊
