Which is why I always cringe when other sticker/stationery shop owners say their packaging is eco-friendly. 🙈 Compostable is not the same as biodegradable. Biodegradable products can be thrown in the trash and will fully break down into organic matter in a landfill, whereas compostable plastics need a lot of heat in order to break down, which is why manufacturers usually say that their products are compostable only at a composting facility (and not for home composting). If someone throws away compostable plastic in the trash and it goes to the landfill, it is pretty much the same as regular plastic. Switching to paper based packaging is best and most simple way to be eco-friendly when having a business. 👍🏼
