You know, Fred you can use an Electra branded scanner as a precision signal generator. Just add 10.8 Mhz to the frequency you want to generate a signal over. Obviously, it won't work with a "rock bound" scanner. But you can use it on the fly with a programmable Electra scanner... Including a pocket scanner.
I was in the two way radio business from the late 1970's thru 1995. When P2 protocols started invading wireless communications and each major manufacturer had their own protocols that were incompatible with other manufacturers. I got sick of dealing with it.

I just recently tossed a few away.. in the basement on shelves collecting dust…..wooden cases LED sequential chasing lights.
