- Today we have another incredible in-car footage with David's 1969 Chevy Camaro here hitting apexes and corners at the Historic Muscle Cars Racing Series, Pukekohe Park Raceway, south of Auckland - New Zealand.
What an amazing opportunity to witness some real vintage racing from the driver's POV !
What you'll see in this video is 1 of the 3 races of the day, with this particular formation being a Handicap Grid Start, where the fastest cars start the race from the pitlane and on a delayed time schedule.
This event is organized by the boys at TACCOC, the Thoroughbred and Classic Car Owners Club. I couldn't resist I had to go down and check some cars out, little did I know that David was kind enough to allow me filming his racing session from inside of their incredibly fast and great-sounding Chevy Camaro Racecar! This car is equipped with a stroked 350ci small block revving to 7500rpm, a 4 speed manual and full on racing suspensions and drivetrain.
Make sure you dial your speakers in and sit down for the best 15mins of your day!

Wow, that's how you drive pure Vintage American Muscle, just Awesome in every way!!!
I know it’s vintage, but I am glad I have a Borg/Warner, T-56 6 speed.
'that transmission sounds like a Muncie M22 ''Rock Crusher ''
My old Z runs right around 4700RPM @ 70MPH. 3.73:1 rear gear. It's loud on the hwy. Not that loud though. lol.
I like the comparison haha
Very pretty, hope you don't crack her up
Nah she tough
Save the manual.
We're in for it
Ohh you know that’s an M22
What meaning? Not entirely sure what M22 is
@@racecars.universe oh it sounds like you’re running a muncie m22 “rock crusher” transmission “ they were well known for their whining noise and toughness
@@captainbuttnuggets4786 oh true thanks for pointing that out and for this new bit of education today. I'll talk to the driver and builder of this car in case that's an M22. Will let you know soon, cheers.
M22 rock crusher is what us Yanks called the best factory 4 speed transmission. At the time obviously
I built one for my street driven 69👍🏼
I've been lucky enough to stand right next to the car this is based on, the Bob Jane Camaro ZL1 427 race car at the Muscle Car Masters event in Australia.
The high compression all alluminium 427 shakes the ground and everything else nearby, with its 4-1 headers basically dumping straight out the sides... 😈😈
Oh really? Didn't know they were racing with heavy big blocks, small blocks have better weight distribution and rev higher
@@racecars.universe If it's Bob Janes original Camaro, it was a COPO ZL1, it had an all ALLOY 427ci in it, later made to repower it with a 350ci.
Absolutely awesome!! Cheers 👍
Thanks for watching!
camera work not good. You could not see enough of the track, too much driver for too long
I HAVE DROVE 69 Z/28 ON THE STREET .THAT CAR IS THE SAME BEAST !
They're severely underestimated by the new generations. Most people think they're heavy cars whereas instead thet were built simple and with way less padding, insulation and plastics. Even a mildly worked SBC can make a Camaro literally take off
@@racecars.universe they are easier to work on too
This Camaro is one of the nicest builds I've ever seen, a great look inside and out, and ohhhhh...fast! Amazing race car!
Yes very eye catching and its got all the speed to back it up
AWESOME FROM THE US.
Thank you sir
What an incredible car!!!!
