  • Camtasia Tips: Camtasia Lower Thirds
    Creating lower thirds motion graphics from scratch can be a lot of work. With Camtasia 9 there are a bunch of motion graphic - lower thirds library assets. In this video, I show you how to take one of those and re-brand it for yourself in minutes!
    [To all video creators - you will find that my FREE EBOOK is a great resource to educate you in all kinds of things around the topic of creating RUclips videos from home.
    [FREE EBOOK: Better Videos From Home!
    gordisman.com/b... ]
    In this video:
    (This tutorial is done with Camtasia 9 for Windows.)
    This tip video looks at lower thirds in the context of motion graphics - animations, library asset re-use, and a bunch of features in Camtasia 9, some of which include: visual properties, begin and end animation keyframes, and transitions.
    I share with you a 5 step approach to looking at the lower thirds asset to help you systematically examine what’s there; determine what you want to change; what you want to add, and how to restore it in the library.
    You will also see how to make the animation start and end sequences execute faster, as well as how to shorten / adjust the overall time for the motion graphic.
    This tip is all about gaining productivity!
    Please note that if you are running on the Mac, you don't have a library section as media assets are managed a little differently. See this article from TechSmith to help you out: support.techsm... )

    One very little tip, but a huge difference in working with animation. I always had to change the color of an element on both sides. And thanks to your tip to turn it on, so it affects all the keyframe in the element. Wow, that for me did my day. Thanks and keep on the good job.

    Gord, how about making a video on customizing the shortcut keys in Camtasia? Some of the shortcuts seems uncomfortable to me. For examples, Shift-Ctrl-7 to see the whole timeline, Ctrl-Home instead of Home to get to the beginning, Ctrl-End to get to the end of the timeline instead of just End. What shortcuts do you use the most?

    hi. thanks. how can i add transparent videos to camtasia? is there any transparent gif files or sth else? what is the name of transparent videos? thanks

    • @GordIsman
      @GordIsman  5 лет назад

      I get transparent gif and asset files from some asset packs I purchase where they were made with an alpha codec that works in Camtasia for Windows. If you are using Windows, it's hard to find assets that are created in the right alpha codec. If you are on a Mac then most of the alpha transparent MOV file codecs work. This video by Lon will also help you out: ruclips.net/video/1pCfH4TVFlo/видео.html

      Hi Bill, you are right, I don't have a video for that. I will add this to my list for the future tutorials. In the meantime, I have done many "lower thirds" videos and you'll see that many of them show me adapting a TechSmith Library Asset. Many of the assets are FREE. I suggest looking into those on the TechSmith site, and then trying to adapt one to be one that might work for you.

I haven't created any lowerthirds templates but you can replicate your own design by following this video. @@GordIsman you showed how to shorten it but not how to lengthen it how do you lengthen it?

    • @GordIsman
      @GordIsman  6 лет назад

      THUNDERTONE , in a nutshell, you do the reverse of what I showed to shorten. First, move all the clip endings to the right - select all together and then move them. After you move them, you'll also need to move all the animation bits as well, again, select all the pieces together and move them to the right as well. Make it look like the one I did, but just longer. Then, after you have everything in place, see how it plays. You may want to tune the lengths of the animations after, but be sure you do them as a selected set. Be sure you adhere to how the animation updates are done when to toggle on/off "Edit All Animations" feature as required and explained in the video.

    Gordo, I'm gonna lose it ... RGB ... when I do the eye dropper deal in 8.6 it's kinda all over ... the R goes from 97 to 208 ... I used some green paper sheets for a screen ... could the lighting be causing my webcam image to be wavy and jagged around the edges? When I record using my logitech C920 my image in front of the green looks awite, but as soon as I remove the green and try to replace the background, it goes to sh*t ... my image perimeter is wavy and jagged

    • @GordIsman
      @GordIsman  4 года назад

      Adequate broad lighting coverage may be your issue. I use C920 sometimes and I have no issues, but webcams usually require more light than normal for lighting the green screen. Also, if edges are your problem, consider cropping in on the clip - as long as you don't cut out an relevant action, and that may solve the poor lighting at the edges. I've also done a video to help on green screen lighting: ruclips.net/video/z5qaN0Y9Goc/видео.html

      @@freedomwatchdog2495, my C920 is on loan right now to a friend. My Camtasia 2020 Review video on the channel has the Intro recorded with the Logitech Brio camera and green screen - that might give you an idea. But the Brio does a little better with lower light. It's better to do green screen video on a camera that's better than a webcam, if you are able to - for a better outcome.

    • @GordIsman
      @GordIsman  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure I fully understand, but I will make a few suggestions. First, the safest approach is to only work on the lower third piece, before you mix it with your other clips where you want to overlay it. If you try to get it working in isolation first, that should help. Second, try to group all the clip components (after selecting them together) that are part of your lower thrids and then move the on-screen piece. It will move as a unit and should be okay. I hope this helps.

      @@freedomwatchdog2495, well, that depends. If the video has it baked in and you can't edit the original project file, then you can't remove what's there.Yes, putting something over it will work, if you can finesse the new one to be timed perfectly and cover what's there cleanly. Hmmm... not sure I would do that because there could be keyboard mapping challenges. You can try, but I would stick with running the Camtasia that's right for the native operating system. If what you wanted to try was "the way to go", Techsmith wouldn't have to bother with creating a Mac version. In my experience with other software, it doesn't typically work out that well. I haven't found any information on trying this.
