Hey there Mitch, I think you're gonna need a new spare, maybe. Nice bit of Archaeology on the tank sticker. It's really cool that it's an original 435-hp! I was thinking you could steam the sticker off, but probably not without damage. I like your brute force method much better. I'm so glad you "put the evidence in the car"! From an old guy that remembers watching The Honeymooners/Jackie Gleason Show in the 60's, Gleason was a hoot! Take care, Dan
That car is full of surprises. I'm glad you found the build sheet and that you were able to read it. Wouldn't it be nice if you could supply GM with a serial number and they could send a duplicate build sheet. I really like what they did to the body by the back window. Stay safe and enjoy.
So cool! Love it! Like an archive unveil, and btw love the Buford T Justice snippet! Literally today I just referenced him me and my cousin all the time quote that movie! Thank you for doing this. Cheers from Maine
@@MidYearMitch I love all the chrome bumper vettes. if the C3s had vent windows I'd have bought one instead of a '66. C3s are still at a nice price point too...well except for the three carb cars lol
Thank you for all your superb work you are sharing with us. Question: Is the drive train for all Corvettes the same regardless of big block or not? Or has it been adapted to the engine power and torque?
That's the plan! I’m taking the body apart so I can pull it and restore the chassis. The car won’t be a hot rod. It also won’t be a 100 point NCRS car. It will be a nice original driver.
Have you compared the weight of engines 327, 427. LS3, LS7 always knew lighter engines were really better but love the torque. One friend has a 63 327 with a 471 blower and a Holley on top. But he had no traction. Have you weighted the 97 and up transaxle 6 speed manual. Would love to see one stuffed under the C2 with shortened axles to maintain wheel width and stock fender shape. There us a 5.3 LS that is about 327. Alun block and heads too. Thanks for sharing. Dennis
I’m working to remove the body off a 79 currently. When you removed the bumper brackets did you mark them or scribe? The reason I ask, when I take them off and then put back on is there some adjustability in putting them back on to line up correctly on the bumper or am I over thinking the adjustability?
Hey Kevin. You could make them if you really want to. Most likely when you put the body back on with new bushings the body will be in a slightly different spot from where it originally was so you will probably have to readjust everything to fit the new body alignment. Everything will most likely be slightly different. It should all be pretty close though so I think you’ll be fine. Just take lots of pictures and you should be good to go 👍
Looks like the bumper brackets didn't give you too much trouble .Good.Glad rodents didn't get to the build sheet .Married in 2024 huh , that will drag you away from your projects ,LOL
So far the car is coming apart nicely. I think it wants to get rebuilt. Im glad the rodents didn’t go back there. They went everywhere else in the car! Haha no she doesn’t pull me away from projects. I need to get her out in the garage more lol.
A lot of the 68 and 69 for 27 do not have original blocks my dad at 68 big block with 400 miles on it blew a hole inside of the block because that’s when they switch to let it gas to unleaded they had to redo the motors, a bit beef up valve screens, other sorts to fix it
She's gonna be a UNIT, Mitch! I'm pretty much loving this car! Excited to see her come to life again! Fun video, brother! A+++++
I’m excited about this car! I can’t wait to hit the roads again with this car.
There is nothing that creates excitement like the terms 427 big block.
That’s right!
nice win finding the tank sticker! might be in rough shape but I’d be thrilled to find a build sheet for my 65.
Thanks I was so excited!! It’s awesome to have that documentation.
you cracked me up with the "put the evidence in the car" clip. a lot of great memories with that movie :-)
Haha it’s a classic! I made myself laugh when I set the tank sticker in the car and I thought about that movie.
Absolutely hilarious. Loved it too.

Such a cool car!
Thanks! I’m excited about it. It’s a fun build.

Good save on the tank sticker…. Documented factory 435! Nice work on the 68!
I was happy that we were able to save the sticker. It’s cool to see a rare car with documentation.

That was a quality movie! Haha that’s funny what a small world! Thanks for watching! It’s fun digging up the history on this car.
Not a C2 but 2x chrome bumper car...love it
Funny enough this is the most popular car on my mid year channel. And it’s a shark! But it’s a chrome number big block.

Bonzai! Evidence it is a L71
Absolutely! It’s the real deal.
love it man, i wish i could have a project and the money to do it, 1 bad ass car 68 427 vette
It’s going to be a great car! I can’t wait to get this one running.
Beautiful car . I really hope you are removing the body to restore the frame to keep the car as original as possible .

I'm just asking did the car come with wire hub caps or 15x8 rallies
I’ll put up a video about the full build sheet but I think it came with rallies originally.
if gas will do that to a tire, imagine what hydrocarbon does to one's lungs!
That’s true!
Please dump those damn Eckler bubble taillights
Haha they are growing on my. I’m sure we will keep the car how Greg had it. He bought it like that so we will probably leave them on.

Glad you like it!

...beefier_valve screens_ say whaaaat? Distributor curve and carb adjustment and jetting for the right air to fuel ratio
Can you say that in English?
