This review is ok. It shares the one thing the HARRIER always had. People laughing at it, saying how shit it is, how everything else is better. Only thing is, the thing doesn't know how to lose. It ate up better planes and enemies its whole career, doing jobs people said it couldn't do, and did them well. The US Marines extended their fleet again. At a later career point, SHAR (FRS2) had a radar and AMRAAM upgrade that made the platform BVR and for a time was the UKs premier air combat platform. And it took on all comers in that period and did at least 'well'. Fucking ace plane. Made in a shed. To wreck your day. :)
@@willsimpson3783 Not really. Harrier was a program they grabbed with both hands and made a better program. They did not make a mistake, its been a great platform. It outlasted and out performed many contemporaries - and did well in every conflict it flew in.
Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the turning rate of the Harrier, due to the VTOL system is pretty bad and can't even hover for a long time in one place. Don't get me wrong, this plane inspired me to create some VTOL concepts and looks cool in my opinion. But the shortcomings of the plane in mostly due to the VTOL system and it's rough state (i.e. it's not a proven design yet and had a lot of compromises which later on mostly had been fixed)
@@LastGoatKnight Its hover time is only really for take off/landing phase. Its turn rate was so bad that in repeated air to air contests it bested NATO's best (SHAR2)? The whole family of jets is battle proven, and thus it can't be a bad thing.
As a sim only player it annoys me that it hasn't got its correct cockpit yet. Gaijin basically used the GR.1/3 cockpit and just replaced the map with a radar. The Sea Harrier FRS.1 was the same as the GR versions from the intakes backwards, but forward of the intakes, it was a completely different aircraft. It had a completely different cockpit instrument layout from the GR versions. It's seat was also raised 11 inches inside the bubble canopy for a much better rear view.

I just got it this week, and I’ve had the most fun so far in British especially with the late grind. Consistently top-3 with 1-4 kills. I’m so used to the AV-8, it feels right at home, so I got a talisman for it to finish out the tech tree.
Personally I've fallen in love with thus jet as using in after I bought it and used some ge on it the first game I got an ace wich was the first ace I've gotten in jets since I've been playing warthunder
If you want the Gripen the Harrier lets you skip grinding column 4 in the UK tree. Thats over a million RP and several million SL. You can skip the bomber column anyway. And it's great in sim... no top tier matches...
I'm not sure if you leave it out intentionally for some reason but you never seem to mention the ballistics computer for the cannons when they have them, CCIP for cannons is really helpful when attacking ground targets.
Cannot get a single kill with this thing after nine flights (air battles). It is like driving Panzer IV H against Leo 2A7. I tried low altitude, high altitude, I rarely even get close to enemy to use the missile. Got shot from far greater distance than the stock missiles are able to lock on. HUGE disappointment for me.
I wish there were more interesting lower tier planes to squadron research. It's either this or the crappy prop plane, considering the german and russian ones are not that good.
Now that I bought and half-spaded the A4E Early I can confirm that this plane is better worth it. At least for those who can't use rear-aspect AIM-9Bs, because the A4E Early has only that for AA combat. And a LOT of ground pounder which let's just say that it's not my specialty
Hey could you try do more naval videos, such as on coastal vessels like the VS10, the MZ1 and others, and keeping the advice for both arcade and realistic? I've noticed there's zero to no videos on the MZ1
@@boltzxz The Sea vixen is a very good grinder, but its quite boring as it has no guns. But yeah the Wyvern is one of the most broken planes in the game and also a great grinder
Well the Harrier's S/VTOL capabilities aren't of much use in air battles, VIFFing aside, however it can be tremendously useful in ground battles where Harriers can rearm at helicopter bases and return to the battle very quickly.
I can really tell that you main ground vehicles because of this video. For many people this will be their first ever jet aircraft in War Thunder and instead you decide to recommend the T-80UK and M1A1 AIM?! Seriously?!?!?!
What do you mean? The thrust vectoring? What about it do you not understand? As a brief explanation: The single jet engine feeds four nozzles that can each rotate, you aim them down at the ground to do VTOL, roughly 45° to do STOL, and you can do "viffing", Vectoring In Forward Flight so you change the nozzle direction to allow for slightly better performance in turning for instance.
