Awesome advice 👍🏾. I particularly liked the point where he opened up to someone about some of his struggles. There's a lot of imposter syndrome in this field and something I wish I did in my undergrad was talk to people who could support me early on. Other than that - also agree with the whole try something you like or have always wanted to do - even if you don't finish, you'll still grow as a programmer because a lot of programming is hands-on practice.
This is a very insightful video and honestly it helped something click mentally. Thanks for making this and I appreciate you sharing the vulnerability of failure, rejection and anxiety. Have a great day!
Nice video, sadly I don't really have the motivation to work on side projects and university at the same time other than very small ones. I have worked on a lot of side projects over the years (even before uni), but I feel like none of them has a high enough complexity to be showcased...
the side projects don't have to be amazing, but I would say working on side projects is optional the expectations aren't that high for projects made by college students I think the most important thing is to build a resume, prepare for interviews, and try to get an internship though
I'm doing a computer science conversion masters course at my university. I'm learning python and wanted to know the best way to learn and practice coding in my spare time
is there anything in specific that you want to build? you can research more into these, but some things you can build with python are data scrapers and web crawlers using Beautiful Soup or Scrapy automation and scripting through your files directory on windows / finder on mac creating basic games using Pygame when I was learning python, I used automatetheboringstuff.com/
in what kind of context? if it's about finding a job without internships, I think social media focuses too much on people that can't find one rather than people that do, but maybe that's because people that find a job don't talk about it
Great vid! What are your thoughts on study abroad internships, where you pay for an internship? Obviously I would prefer to be paid, but I feel like it could be something cool and unique to put in my resume for this upcoming summer (sophomore rn)
I've not heard of study abroad internships like this - which country is this in? If spending money isn't an issue for you and you don't have anything lined up, then it might be worth it, but I wouldn't go into debt for it it's hard to know if it's worth it without knowing all of the details
should apply to internships, which usually last around 3 months and are only made for college students it's unlikely to get a entry level job as a student since they are full time positions
hmm, that's pretty difficult to do I see some people recommend to build projects utilizing data structures and algorithms, but I would recommend working on them separately, since they are pretty different than each other

Awesome video man :). Also, no way you guys were actually sending ZIP files to each other instead of using git xD
LOL yeah it's one of my regrets
they should really students teach how to use git in college

not worth it
@@loyaljakes could you elaborate a little more? Do you not think companies would care or is it more spending money that you are against?
