Bruford this song saved my life. I went through very hard times last year and I didn't see a way out of my problem, however, the lyrics of this song gave me a great boost to get out of there. For that I will be eternally grateful with you. Also, I really love the melody, I still can't get it out of my head because it's beautiful: every note, every second, well it's a really magical song, what a wonder is this life!

I had almost forgotten about this young and beautiful lady, and very talented singer Annette Peacock... Hmm... for nearly 45 years I didn't listen to anything related to UK .. I have followed closely Allan Holdsworth's career since the mid 80s until 2017 ( RIP Allan and John Wetton ) but I was completely unaware of this lineup with Bruford , Berlin , Peacock , Holdsworth, Stewart... Thanks to YT I have discovered this remarkable band and this excellent music, I can't believe that I was mostly unaware of all this for so long despite always looking for new stuff but so happy I discovered those tunes played by very famous musicians ... Perhaps it's a good thing in some respects since I would probably have had a huge crush for Annette P.... What a beauty... 🥰🥰

What it is....is ! This is.... what it is! I was so obsessed with this album. All my school buddies were listening to the Who or Led Zepplin, I was cranking this tape out very loudly out of my Datsun automobile, in my school parking lot quite frequently! I have become the musician thanks to Mr. Bruford. I sure hope Bill Bruford understands how much we appreciate his music, his drumming independence skills, his musicality! Peace from Detroit MI.

This entire concert, though brief (around 40 minutes) is pure gold. Completely amazing musicianship, cohesion, solos, grooves and songwriting. I watched the dvd a few times years ago and will have to get hold of a copy of it - real magic! Oh yes, Annette is great too - even better and more chilling in the next song "Back to the Beginning"!

@@jhonnydrucker4519 Annette is also a lovely person who I have known since 1985. I saw several of her gigs in the UK but never with Bruford. I did see Bruford with Holdsworth once and in 1980 with John Clarke. They were an amazing band for sure. Holdsworth , Bruford and Annette remain 3 of my favourite musicians, truly inspirational.

This beautiful song has been with me since 1984 when I was luck enough to have a roommate in school that had a couple of Bruford records. I spent that summer listening to this record and reading Doug Hofstadter's GEB, trying to somehow integrate Discrete Event Simulation and whatever we called back then "AI", and also met my wife. Best summer ever. Everything clicked.

I was crew on a flight leaving Montego Bay Jamaica around 20 years ago. All the passengers were boarded and the aircraft door was closed. The gate agent pounded on the door. When I opened it, she was standing there with Bryan Adams. She said that she had informed Mr Adams that his first class seat had been released and was now full. He was very gracious and said “It’s okay, I’m small, I don’t mind sitting in coach.” Every eye was on him as he walked back to his coach seat. After take off, a young teenager asked me if it would be okay to ask for an autograph. I told her that I would ask and he invited her over for a chat. I remember that she had a cassette of one of his albums which he signed. She was overjoyed. Really thrilled. Mr Adams was so down to earth and humble. My guess is that young lady no longer has a cassette player, but still has the signed cassette.

The funny thing about musical mistakes is that so long as you proceed as if the mistake were not a mistake but a deliberate choice, the listener can never tell you made a mistake at all. I did notice the train wreck you mention, but Annette Peacock strutted right over it as if it wasn't there. I've never heard her perform before and I was most impressed. This is a very healing piece of music, with great playing from everyone involved. Whether the drummer should have "rattled around" less is a matter of personal taste, but it's undeniably great rattling.

Lots of people in the comments for this and the "Back To The Beginning" video rag on Annette Peacock - I think what she does is perfect for this material personally, but it's also worth noting that she knew exactly when to come in and with this material that's not trivial!

Poetry set to … not jazz exactly, not rock either, not ANY box, it’s direct expression, real music, played by terrific, daring, utterly unique musicians and poet/songstress/artist…she’s even doing a little ‘performance art’ touch with her moves, glances, demeanor, calm presence-I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time, Mr. Bruford, NEVER heard this before, love it-thank you!

God, Bill, you're bad as me, what with all the apologizing for things nobody would notice had you not brought it up. LOL. But that's okay, better than okay. I'm very relieved to find that I'm not the only one that obsesses about details. You have a lot more company for that on your level. Here in the mud with the hoi polloi it's much less common.
Jeff Berlin's influence was not inconsequential. I, for one, stole a few of his licks to play on guitar. He was amazing, no doubt. And Allan was my favorite guitarist. And you were mine and my bass player's favorite drummer. The conversations we used to have about your snare drum. . . . A keyboard player in a rival band was a huge fan of the band and Dave. He could play all your stuff.
