I hate that the cynicism of her peers kept Teen Elira from following her heart and being passionate about acting and theater. Also, I hate how high schools notoriously discourage careers in arts and entertainment and ask you to plan a more practical career. But it's never too late like she said and it seems to be something she wants to look into after her Vtuber career. I'm certain she'd make it. Also, I love how she now puts all of herself into her performances for NIJISANJI, be it recording voice packs, singing, or just playing out a goofy scenario like pretending to be a yandere for us.
I'm sure her time in Niji will be a huge boon for her in the VA department should she ever consider taking that path. Much of what she's learned in her Vtuber career will directly help her in voice-acting.
I mean. It is unrealistic to tell the 20 teenagers in your class that they can all be big youtubers/streamers, or be in the entertainment industry and make it. HOWEVER, I believe schools should approach the subject with a more open minded touch. Maybe encourage teens to look into more average works in the field. Like, instead of wanting to be a big, famous artists, you could be a normal artist doing commissions online. Then, if you make it big, that's awesome. If not, you can still work doing what you love.
I completely agree with this because before my current career path(?), I wanted to do graphic design but my parents and even my friends said, "graphic design to do what? Make some designs for a magazine, overwork and get paid half what an engineer does in an hour?" I used to be that one kid who would pull all nighters doing things he was passionate about whether I created my own little robot or redesign my school's website for fun. Only 2 years into engineering and I feel like I've wasted 6 years of my life because I don't find any joy in it anymore. Even though I make literally nothing from graphic design, it's still fun to take a photo of something, get on PhotoShop and design for hours on end
@@PrisonerTetsu Keep on doing graphic design bro. My close friend is an electrical engineer and he djs on the weekends. He’s sort of like you, he questioned why he did engineering even though it’s not his passion, but decisions were made and he’s an engineer now as a career for over 4 years. He came to the conclusion that he’s doing engineering for the pay and doing dj-ing cause he enjoys it. And who knows! You and him could make a career out of your passion later down the line. When you mentioned graphics design I am reminded of all those vtuber magazine cover templates on twitter that people make for free and that professional vtubers use. Something like that could be used in a portfolio that would land you a graphics design job. The worst that can happen is that it remains a hobby and a source of secondary income and that’s actually really good. So don’t give up!
Took me my entire twenties to settle on a degree. I’m 26 now and I’ll finally be graduating in a year and a half. Don’t get caught up in societal expectations. Pursue what you want to pursue and put your all into it.
Life after high school is so confusing. You realize then you have no idea what you want, but at the same time, don't want to just settle. I've lost like 3 years not knowing what I want to do, and frankly, I'm fine with that, because I realize a lot of people are like that.
Damn, I really felt that about the trying hard bit. When you want to put your all into something cause you love the hell out of it but getting self conscious about the people around you thinking that you're a showoff or suckup for trying and that you're just drawing everyone's attention. That really shook me up
Honestly, I found myself being really drawn to the showoffs. Not the kinds that look down on people, mind you, but rather, the kinds who know their talent and aren't afraid to show it. I've found those people really take life in stride and are some of the most optimistic people I've ever been able to meet.
We have thing, we have the skill and talents to show off. People just envy us duh, they envy cus they cannot do the same shit like us, or they dont wanna try hard at it. Its their shit, just dont care about them, do it the way you like. You got all the right and ability to do it, so why not, its exist for reason right?
Man cant wait to buy my own pc and try to audition to nijisanji. Even if i dont pass i can always say to my self that i atleast tried. Im verry new to Vtubing stuffs but because of this short time watching nijisanji en kinda lits a fire inside me and made me wanna go and try it.
I recall something similar being brought up in a Trash Taste episode with Mori Calliope. The gist of that convo was that, you should be conscious about the path you take to chase your dreams. Even if you pursue doing what you love doing, you might end up hitting major roadblocks that might stop you dead in your tracks. In moments like those, you start questioning your choices and spiraling into depression. That's why it's always good to have a safety net. Ensure a backup plan and work your way towards maintaining that to some degree, so that when you do hit a bump, you can resort to that plan as an opportunity to slowly work your way around that bump until you make it to a certain point where you can fully commit to that goal. The whole thing was regarding content creation on mainstream platforms specifically, but I believe the philosophy applies to literally any long-term goal. Tl;dr plan things ahead strategically instead of fully committing to something at the spur of the moment without any safety nets or a way out.
@@ChronicalV a good example is working toward a degree while also pursuing a hobby or passion, getting something more practical while doing whatever creative effort you want.
@@ChronicalV To give my own personal example, I'm striving to actually become a full time V-tuber and streamer, giving myself more experience with streaming, spending time developing skills that I could use like drawing and guitar, learning languages, and coming up with audition ideas for whatever company I would want to join, but at the same time, I'm persuing Uni, making connections in my work place (I know a few managers who would take me on if I need a job), and applying for internships. I also make sure to take care of myself, physically and mentally, with exercise and keeping a journal. Basically, anything to fall back on is fine. It can be a university degree, it can be a full time job, it can be people who know you and would help you find a job if you need it, basically, just something to help you get back on your feet if your dream fails.
@@MontySlython tbh in school i could never focus on anything i didnt love with passion. So that kind of plan sounds great, but I doubt I could do it. I would end up just wanting to work and my hobby with whatever free time I have rather than split my time between work, study and the creative hobby. I dunno tho, I've never tried because I'm too afraid to spend money/loans on a course doing "practical" things that I could end up failing because I've always been bad at doing those kinds of things and end up wasting money and time.
Chasing your dreams is well and good... if you have the resources to do so... I know it's boring to be cautious and way more exciting and inspiring to "follow your passions" or whatever, but I've met a lot of goons that "ignored the haters and did what they wanted to" 8/10 cases they followed that passion so blindly and persistently that they ran out of money and now work minimum wage to pay for their student loans that they took out for a career that they a) changed their minds about b) can't find work in I'd say it's good to go for a safe/stable option that doesn't drain your soul or time completely. Just something to keep the lights on while you pursue your true goals at your own pace without rushing headlong off a cliff and expecting to fly.
In reality we should be asking why people question why someone's "tryharding" at something. In most cases you have to step back and ask yourself if these people holding you back out of fear. Fear that they'll be inadequate when put beside you. In that case it's up to you to make a decision whether it's worth it to tone yourself down or not. Knowing when to fit in and when to say "screw it, I'm doing this" is an essential skill, and unfortunately people are too busy learning just how to fit in to figure that out.
I have never seen this Vtuber before, but as someone who is pursuing voice acting as a career, this hits really close to home. All my life whenever I would put lots of passion into something it would always feel like people were judging me or thinking I was stupid, so I eventually stopped trying. It's taken years for me to break out of that habit and I'm still breaking out of it now, and it hurts to see someone else go through something similar. Never let people discourage you from the things you want to do, some people just want to spread negativity wherever they go they have no intention of helping or bettering anything so don't let those people get to you, follow your dreams, it's never too late to start. Just wanted to get that off my chest.
Honestly I relate to this so much. Trust me, I'm old and it's never too late to pursue the things you want to do. Whether it's as a hobby or professionally, it's never too late. That's not to say you don't take feedback and alternative views, but let that inform your decision rather than direct it. Especially in high school/informative years others criticisms can hurt but do your best to help that make you grow and see a different side. Also other advice I would say is a little idealism never hurts anyone but make sure you're truthful to yourself about your goals and dreams. Whatever decision you make just make sure it's the decision you want to make and not blame anyone that choice but yourself. You make the choices and accept the consequences good or bad.
This resonates with me A LOT, omg. When i also was in high school I wanted so hard to go to a Drama school (especially in my city in Italy we have a big big big musical, opera and actor tradition going -you know, Romeo and Juliet, Notre Dame de Paris started in my city, just to name a few - and if you didn’t watch Notre Dame de Paris please watch it is so AWESOME) but then got strongly advised to study something else because family and “if you fail what’s your plan B”. I took Economy and became a spinning gear of the society, but I always wanted to try. Every time I was going to the theater or to the opera I was thinking “I want to be there one day!” And then it happened. In 2017 I managed to enter a small school, attending lessons after work three times a week for ten months. I had to study breathing techniques, speech techniques, dancing, on top on learning the lines and training a lot in the gym to keep up the rhythm of the younger guys in the school because I wanted to be on stage! It was the beginning of an amazing four years, every year we went on stage with something new and let me tell you, there’s no words to describe the feeling when you are right there in the center of the stage and everyone is waiting for you. If someone of you experienced it, you know. Probably that’s why I love so much Revue Starlight. Now I have made friends at that school, everyone is around my age and even if we do small plays is the best thing that happened to my life in the last years. On stage you can be everything you want to be, you are so free! I will always be thankful to my friends in this school, they helped me so much in a way they can never know. Sorry for the wall post lol I just wanted to say that when we are 18, we feel that if we don’t accomplish EVERYTHING until 30 our life is wasted and over. Now I am 36, in the last seven years I travelled all over the world, studying in Canada now and I feel like a kid. Elira is so spot on, life is long, it’s just when you are young it’s impossible to feel it because there’s so much to do and so much pressure. Remember what she said: “you being you is more than enough”. Never stop to find chances to be you, eventually your time will come. I also hope to see Elira on a big stage sometime in the future, cause you never know :D
Thank you for sharing your story with us. I’m in high school I want to be an animator, I want to make my own art and story’s. I want to live abroad in other country’s ones that don’t speak the same language as I. But I’m scared of failure I’m scared everything I’ve worked towards will crash and burn. I want to pursue these dreams but I’m scared.
@@nezoon6587 it’s totally normal to be scared, it would be very surprising the opposite. I am double your age and I was insanely scared to make the move to come to Canada, so it’s really ok. As for your situation, it’s going to be hard and you need to work a lot, but it’s absolutely doable. Try to interact a lot with people, ask for opinions, don’t be afraid to make mistakes especially if you try to learn new language. Your animator skills will be pretty useful for a lot of jobs in the future even if you have to work for a company not in the “anime world”, so keep going! I wish you all the best :)
@@nezoon6587 As someone who is learning animation on my own at home, as long as you have a smart approach/plan, fucking go at it full force. If you have a hole in your heart, going for something you want might just fill it up
Definitely advice I wish I could have had growing up. I really liked to sing and I’d change and try to change my voice for songs with multiple vocalists. I got laughed at by a peer for trying or because it sounded weird and I never tried it again. LMAO You live and you learn ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly, same. I'm still "young" tho (late 20s). I'm working and studying again. Both things I kinda like. I spend my entire days doing the only thing I am sort of good at and kind of enjoy that is not "impossible to accomplish". Yet I'm still thinking "what if I start singing? What if I start making teaching videos?" everyday. I feel miserable and stressed all the time, convincing myself I do this for my future... I hope once I have a stable, independent life, I can do it. My reality does not permit me to do literally anything besides working to survive (for now). Because, let's face it, even if you want to do whatever your dream is, you still need money...
That's a really insightful perspective. I agree with her. But also, if you have great friends, they try to tell you their honest opinion, which is valueable, because others might try to be nice to you and that's all. In the end, it's still your life and you have to take control of your decisions and path.
This kinda hits very close to home. Though my story is a bit different since I was kinda being a problem child. I was never interested in things I could do and just wanted to try things out fun. Since I was good in STEM subjects I didn't care about studying while people around me expected me to do engineering or something. Just to be a rebel I pitched to learn Animation instead. My family wasn't supportive so I ended up kinda taking up STEM subjects, but I never studied out of spite but I also ended not learning Animation/digital art. Now after 7-8 years I kinda wish to have done both, but when I see how far other people have come in their respective fields it is very daunting. I probably will try to pick up something in a few months. This was an all over the place rant. Not even sure where I am going with this. TL;DR - don't be spiteful, you are the most important person for yourself. And strive for things you want, doubts and hesitation will always be there.
There are two sides to this advice. You can follow your passion but you might not get the job you want and have to work low paying jobs to supplement your passion. Or you can pick a stern job that you might not be passionate in but will most likely land your a stable job with a god income.
Yeah I feel that honestly, there's a good few things I want to do but I feel like I have to hit the baseline expectations of my parents before anything else, for various reasons.
This is fucking truth. One of my greatest regrets was going into STEM instead of pursuing art because art "wasn't sustainable" and because my friends would always dunk on liberal arts.
Here's what i learned from my years of living: -make your own decision, dont let others (friends, peers, etc) opinion change your mind if you really want it -dont conform to other peoples standard, you'll live your life in misery (trust me I did for sometime) -never regret your decisions, you can think about it all you want but never regret things youve done -always give your best, opportunities will not wait for you -and if you think your gonna do something stupid(eccentric), think again. if you still want to do it, go for it. Don't look for your happiness, Make your own Happiness.
To be honest I guess it really depends. An example is that a lot of people tells you to do what you want but they really do not specify if you want to that particular thing as a hobby or as career. Second is that you should also consider that if the job you are aiming for need a college degree or not. As a multimedia art student with specialization on animation who came from a stem background and is planning on going back to stem, the things they teach you in art are the things you can learn on the internet if not better, and you will realize that the thing they will really look at when applying fo a job is your portfolio and not your degree, it also depends on what country you are currently living right now. Of course you will learn some work etiquette along the way but is it really worth it if the only reason you have gone into an art school is to learn when you can learn it all for free in the internet specially youtube. Another people also do not consider is that when your hobby becomes a job. Once something you like becomes a job it will really completely ruin yhe joy of it being a hooby. I would really recommend that people learn another skill even if it is not a stem related skill in particular so that you can build a safety net along the way. Another thing about art colleges or uni is that it is freaking expensive and they expect you to already know that thing that they are about to teach you, yeah almost everything will depend on your self study and self practice. This is a personal experience and there maybe really is an art school out there that will really help you grow as an artist. Research the thing that you wanna do as a career, do not go blindly relying on every impulse you have, if you are going to college, do something that will make your future stable and continue to do you passion and hobby on the sideline so when the time comes to switch side, you will know you are ready, or you can follow your passion right now while still learning a different set of skills.
I dont know why this hits me but it does, I always dreamed to be a musician and in high school i took music production and guitar classes every chance i could, The sad part like people in these comments have said, schools despise pursuing arts and i fell down the same way looking at musical jobs as not being financially stable or impossible Anyways my academic grades were always 50's and my music classes were 99's so..yeah i love music and i'll never forget Mr.Chalmers my favorite teacher
For the majority of my 20's ive been drifting from work to work to finally discover what i wanted to study and now am pursuing it at the age of 31. Moral of the story, you WILL achieve what you want to pursue if youre willing to put in the time regardless of your age. Funny enough, i have plenty of classmates much older than me in my course so yeah.
Elira is speaking facts here. People's opinions only matter as long as those people are relevant to you and the only person who you absolutely have to live with your whole life is yourself. It's also significantly harder to be successful at something you aren't at least somewhat passionate about. Don't subject yourself to a lifetime of doing something you hate because it's "the right thing to do to be successful" life is short and you only have one.
She is correct though, when you are young, time prob is the only resource you have in abundant, use it to experience a lot of things so when the time comes you know what you want to do
I do believe in the fact that you can always try things out, it's never too late and the absence of a culture around failing shouldn't deter you. But at the eame time, the biggest downsides to trying things out as you get older are like... You have less and less time to get experience (all the while being compared to, or you yourself comparing to other younger people), plus if you did not take care of the skills related to that field it's easier to lose out against others' natural talent and it's harder bring yours out. You can always, and I mean always, (try to) even out the field with effort and true passion. But again, sometimes it gets harder to hold on that as well. Life gets tiring, man. I guess this looks like a defeatist's point of view, but in spite of everything, I genuinely believe in being able to grab and hold onto your dreams no matter how late the chance enters your life, as long as you're prepared and willing to commit. I genuinely believe in the strength of people. Plus as you experience more things in life you start building up an insight that is truly unique to you, and if you have the capacity of expressing it, it can definitely help in any situation. Also I guess you can make connections, and we all know that knowing the right person in the right position can change everything lol
I know EXACTLY what she means, and it's why I strive to be as "cringy" as possible, because I noticed that when I'm being cringe, trying my hardest to do things that interest me, that's when I'm happiest. If anyone young, or even old if you still struggle with this is here, FUCK EVERYONE ELSE, IT'S SOLELY YOUR LIFE, DO WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT. That is all
The most important thing to do in life is to live your way! Many people try to push you down and away from your own vision so you will live the way they want you to but this is your life, not theirs, and no one should be forced to live in ways that are but their own uwu They say life is short but life is a whole lot longer than you'd think so take your time and slow down, the journey is what you remember so be sure to enjoy it all the way!~
There are many things I would love to do in life but I just can't. This is something that not enough people consider when they try to be uplifting and positive. Sometimes you just can't do the things you want to do due to sudden medical or mental problems. Since the suicide of my gf and high school friend I have been living just to exist. Went into severe depression, anxiety disorder, and the worst of all: Burn-out. If you think that burn-out is purely mental you need to reconsider your knowledge of the topic because you are wrong. You cannot do anything anymore. Hang out with friends? Nope. Go out into town? Nope. Get exercise? Nope. Feel happy? Nope. You are always in pain, everything is too much for you. Even lifting a cup of coffee can be too hard. You have all kinds of weird physical symptoms like heartburn, palpitations, headache, stomach-ache, muscle cramps, pain, oesophagus spawns(which feel like heart attacks, for those unaware of it), dizziness, and all of these can happen at random times of the day. You cannot get sleep because of the abnormal quantity of cortisol that is always present. You do not get rest. It is akin to vitamin-b12 deficiency symptoms but you can also have a combination of all of them and deficiencies. I had to be put on emergency medication for a time because I just could not function at all. I have been slowly trying to climb up with medication and professional (and fitting, very important because big corpo mental health institutes do not give a flying fuck about you but only about the money you get them) mental healthcare and intense hard work. It has been going for almost 5 years now. I would have rather had all of my limbs broken one by one in a cycle because at least people would recognize it and support me as well as it taking less time to recover than from all of this. So many things I want to do, for example: Living like a normal human being. Doing normal things. Working. Enjoying time with friends. But I just can't. This time is humongous test of willpower and endurance and I hope that none of you reading this will have to go through it. But on the other side I do want every single human being going through even just a month of this just so they can shut the motherfuck up with calling me lazy and not understanding that the hardships I am going through are equivalent to that of an entire normal humans lifespan. I am just glad I can walk for 4 minutes. I am glad to be able to breathe in clean air. People tell me that I am lazy and that I should just have a backbone. And I guess this comes down to somewhat the same thing as Elira said: FUCK WHAT OTHERS SAY. Do what you can do and what you want to do if you have the option to do so. I wish I could.
Counterpoint: Don't pursue a subject as a major without first researching what is required for a career in that field. An art major is harder to get an actual career in than graphics design, so research if you really want to do that much networking and getting into the in-crowd. Graphics design is just way easier to get work. Follow your passions for hobbies, and do what you can for a living. You *can* land a job if you have a history or psycology major, but chances are that job will be a schoolteacher, so you're better off concentrating on that and learning history on the side for fun. Follow your dreams, but do so practically. This is why schools push kids towards STEM, btw. Because jobs are plentiful, pay is excellent, and you can just do what they tell you and be set for life. People with creativity excel in these fields, too. It's not for everyone, though, and you need to be very savvy no matter what career you pursue. Put yourself out there, search for opportunities, and jump whenever you see one. If you get a history major without a plan, you'll end up working at Starbucks. If you get a history major with a plan, you could end up with a show on the History Channel. Or maybe you should study filmmaking if you want to do that. Research. Don't pursue your passions thoughtlessly. Find career opportunities that match your passions as close as possible, then work backwards from there before choosing your major. Good luck.
That’s really passion haters will hate 📈🤝, on a side note when she said not to study for the things you don’t care about hit different, didnt study at all graduated with a 3.4 🤷♀️
I wish I was born 4 years later so I can watch this when I still had a chance to do what I want to do.. but hey at least I'm enjoying watching and vibing with anime avatars on RUclips
People need to hear this. It's a shame that most people don't know the gravity of their dismissive remarks. Even worse when it's coming from people closest to you
I think better advice is to simply be realistic in your life choices. Plan for, and make decisions based on, your life down the line, rather than in the moment. A lot of people fail chasing fame and glory. And besides that, it's easy to comment that the people in her past were mean to her, and maybe they were, but look where she ended up as a result from taking this path in life. Can you say she would have actually gotten a position in a decent theatre if she followed dreams she had during a notoriously whimsical time in everyone's life?
Oof i felt that. There are times where i feel old and like its too late and that its all downhill from here on out. Also oof Ive definitely seen the "why u trying so hard lol" highschool kids are just edgy and think not caring about anything makes you cool lol.
i doubt she would ever see this but... elira you're an anime girl who can put herself in front of any background, and are surrounded by friends who i would imagine have no shame about playing a character. you could totally put on a musical with nijisanji. you could do it live or maybe as a video so you can put in editing n stuff. like really, tell me it wouldnt be sick af to watch elira and the gang perform the anime version of west side story. like you said, it's never too late!
I believe that Elira has the greatest voice of all people currently alive and that she's the greatest singer currently alive. I hope everyone achieves their dreams. Good luck
@@AcidiFy574 I think all those things like neuromods and AI are going to get us closer so anti-utopia like world. And AIs are cool and all but I don't think they will ever replace an actual artist
STEM majors and Engineering in particular are very good for job security. But it is definitely not for everyone. You have to want it to be an engineer, otherwise it will be torture. It is a very hard university program and whatever job you get is going to be very demanding (though every job can be very demanding).
I’ve had friends want to do similar things with there lives and had nothing to show for it at the end. I never said to them they shouldn’t cus it’s there life I don’t care. I wonder if that makes me a bad friend or not
I think the reason why people are so fixated on STEM and encourage them, other than because of the possibility of higher pay, is also because I feel like the barrier to get a decent pay for a sustainable life is lower compared to artistic pursuit. At least in my opinion, it is easier to get a stable living, working in STEM or any other pursuit besides art, so there will always be that consideration. Another thing that I think might be the reason is that STEM is mainly seen as a more noble pursuit, as in it is the pursuit of the skills that will be used later on to develop things that will benefit more people (factories, power plants, etc.), a seemingly selfless pursuit. This is just my personal opinion, but I think the pursuit of art is fundamentally and always should be a selfish pursuit. Ask any artist who the person that is most difficult to satisfy, and it would almost always be themselves. The people who enjoy their work is merely an unintentional effect of their greatness, but they never aim to please a crowd. That being said, I would like to emphasize that being selfish isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when in regards to arts. They need the selfish ability to believe in oneself to keep pursuing and stand strong despite criticism. Of course, listening to criticism can always help, but imagine if The Beatles constantly do what people want, we would never have had "Sgt Pepper's" or if Van Gogh stopped painting after having his arts criticized. It takes a lot of guts to be an artist. So that's my two cents. I'm just gonna leave it on the floor cos I know no one asked for it. From an engineer who never had the guts to pursue the music career he always dreamt.
I remember when I started working on cars my coworker did the same thing just why are you trying so hard or why do you care. I just said why not, and now I make more money than him so yeah... I won.
Those who try to drag those who are striving to rise up, down into their own levels of mediocrity, no matter their original intents be well-meaning or malicious in nature, are really a taint and a curse upon human society
Need to go back in time and smack Teen Elira's friends upside the head; be like "no, bad Elira's friends! Let the dragon girl do the acting!" Also, the focus needs to go from STEM to STEAM - the A (arts) is important, too
The quote “Life is short” actually depends on your stage in life or just life in general, if your homeless then maybe you feel like life is long cuz your suffering Yk what I mean? So yeah.

I mean anyone can voice act. But despite what dumb theatre actors and movie and tv actors think. Its way more than just talking. 1. Its about being on cue. those 3 beeps are your life and you have 3 chances to nail them or they'll kick you out 2. hitting the emotion and emoting purely focused on how you sound (voice actor look ridiculous and can be seen "over acting" to get that exact emotionally poignant and context perfect performance). 3. lip flaps matching. Sometimes you need to say lines that seem ridiculous with the given lip flaps. You just have to make it work. 4. prospective. Often times you need to deliver your lines without actually even knowing the context. You are just reading the script and relying purely on the visual (if any), your prompt and your line. And just like 1. You have to just nail it, because you're paid for your time. You screwing up is seen as you time wasting to get paid more. At which case they'll just fire you if you can't deliver quickly.
School beat the passion out of her. Unfortunately the current public education system was designed to produce factory workers and tax payers, not to help students reach their potentials.
Look... she says that, but she's kinda wrong...? I would never recommend a carreer in art to anyone... depending on the art. It's really hard to get a decent, regular wage in most areas of art. The scepticism about someone you care about going into art is there for a reason - it's ultimately unreliable in most cases. The reason they all flock towards STEM, however, is because - guess what - the income is not only reliable, but high, as well. Now, I understand STEM is not for everyone. In fact, I think most people CAN'T do STEM (at least not to the degree they imagine they can), because STEM is freaking hard (I'm studying electrical engineering, myself). Regardless, people turn toward STEM because they know it's the big money maker. At the end of the day, I wouldn't actively recommend a carreer in most forms of art to anyone, especially not someone I cared about. If my friend DID choose some art in the end, though, then I'd support them as I would anyone studying in STEM or anything else, really. Additionally, if that friend proves extra successful in art in the end, FANTASTIC! Good on them! I'm glad it worked out. Idk it's late and I'm kinda rambling but I think I said what I wanted to?
Idk, her Mr. Krabs impression is the peak of voice acting if you ask me

Shu is laughing somewhere
@@LeonardoTheMomo True, because you never know what could work if you never try it
I completely agree with this because before my current career path(?), I wanted to do graphic design but my parents and even my friends said, "graphic design to do what?
You can do it, chief.
Get that degree and live well.
Life after high school is so confusing. You realize then you have no idea what you want, but at the same time, don't want to just settle. I've lost like 3 years not knowing what I want to do, and frankly, I'm fine with that, because I realize a lot of people are like that.
I'm gonna be finishing a bachelor's at 24. Keep it up man
Im going to finish my degree at 29, keep it up
Gonna be really starting my degree at 24. Sucks that I've wasted so much time, but can't change the past now
Damn, I really felt that about the trying hard bit.

Could you be more specific? Yea ofc having a backup plan is always smart, but what exactly does that actually entail
I know it's boring to be cautious and way more exciting and inspiring to "follow your passions" or whatever, but I've met a lot of goons that "ignored the haters and did what they wanted to"
8/10 cases they followed that passion so blindly and persistently that they ran out of money and now work minimum wage to pay for their student loans that they took out for a career that they
a) changed their minds about
b) can't find work in
I'd say it's good to go for a safe/stable option that doesn't drain your soul or time completely.
Remember when Mysta dissed the Try-hards of GI

Some people might really need to hear this advice. 😭😭😭
Every time I was going to the theater or to the opera I was thinking “I want to be there one day!”
And then it happened.
Sorry for the wall post lol
I just wanted to say that when we are 18, we feel that if we don’t accomplish EVERYTHING until 30 our life is wasted and over.

This is probably the advice that we all needed 🙏, thanks for clipping thispbox
Y'know, this is highly relevant to my life as I have my city's largest highschool musical in 4 days. And this was such a comforting video.
So relatable, sometime asking for advice just turn into discouragement.

*5 years later Elira gets married*
Me: YOU GAVE ME HOPE!!
Obviously that is just another obstacle. Just gotta remove the obstacle keeping you from getting the goal 😈
Harem route, let's GO!!!
This is fucking truth. One of my greatest regrets was going into STEM instead of pursuing art because art "wasn't sustainable" and because my friends would always dunk on liberal arts.
Here's what i learned from my years of living:
-make your own decision, dont let others (friends, peers, etc) opinion change your mind if you really want it
-dont conform to other peoples standard, you'll live your life in misery (trust me I did for sometime)
-never regret your decisions, you can think about it all you want but never regret things youve done
-always give your best, opportunities will not wait for you
-and if you think your gonna do something stupid(eccentric), think again. if you still want to do it, go for it.
Don't look for your happiness, Make your own Happiness.
Super good advice, thank you for all of this
This advice really resonated with me. Thank you Elira!
Thank you for clipping . This clip make me cry😭
I dont know why this hits me but it does,
I always dreamed to be a musician and in high school i took music production and guitar classes every chance i could,
The sad part like people in these comments have said, schools despise pursuing arts and i fell down the same way looking at musical jobs as not being financially stable or impossible
Anyways my academic grades were always 50's and my music classes were 99's so..yeah i love music and i'll never forget Mr.Chalmers my favorite teacher

She is correct though, when you are young, time prob is the only resource you have in abundant, use it to experience a lot of things so when the time comes you know what you want to do
This is why we love Elira.
Fuck man. I wish I could give her a hug. People are cruel.
That is all
Wished I had a passion when I was young. I now feel passionless blindly pursuing something that may not fulfill me.

I'd want Elira to voice a Guardian's Ghost.

I do, in fact, know.

STEM majors and Engineering in particular are very good for job security. But it is definitely not for everyone. You have to want it to be an engineer, otherwise it will be torture. It is a very hard university program and whatever job you get is going to be very demanding (though every job can be very demanding).

I’ve had friends want to do similar things with there lives and had nothing to show for it at the end. I never said to them they shouldn’t cus it’s there life I don’t care. I wonder if that makes me a bad friend or not
Here comes the sentient editing software....
"Life's short. It's also the longest thing you'll ever experience."
-idk, read it somewhere
Lil Uzi Vert & Elira Pandora: It do not matter
Take a shot everytime she says "you know" but drink water everytime she says "like"
Nice one
I remember when I started working on cars my coworker did the same thing just why are you trying so hard or why do you care. I just said why not, and now I make more money than him so yeah... I won.
Uchikoshi, Chunsoft, you know this girl loves your game, please give her a chance in your next game, please..
Nijisanji should make a school xD at least they can have future towards entertainment ~
Let the dragon girl do the acting!"
Also, the focus needs to go from STEM to STEAM - the A (arts) is important, too
STEMcels yikes
“why are you trying so hard.. “
SAME QUESTION FOR YOU, Why ARE You NOT trying hard too, as*hol**s? HUH?
Totally random but does anyone else notice that Elira's new BGM sounds like the menu theme from DBZ budokai tenkaichi 3 or am I just crazy
drinking game, take a shot everytime she says "like"
Thanks... I died

The quote “Life is short” actually depends on your stage in life or just life in general, if your homeless then maybe you feel like life is long cuz your suffering Yk what I mean? So yeah.
great advice till you realize the youngsters are going to be living with mom and dad till their 40.
You know count:
Y’all can help me finish it.. no, YALL HAVE TO HELP ME FINISH IT or else ofc it’s literally just a “you know count:” with no number. If y’all won’t then I’ll finish it tomorrow or I’ll never finish it.
I mean anyone can voice act. But despite what dumb theatre actors and movie and tv actors think. Its way more than just talking.
1. Its about being on cue. those 3 beeps are your life and you have 3 chances to nail them or they'll kick you out
2. hitting the emotion and emoting purely focused on how you sound (voice actor look ridiculous and can be seen "over acting" to get that exact emotionally poignant and context perfect performance).
3. lip flaps matching.
Man I really would like to start doing Vtuber stuff but I keep getting in my own head and idk why
They don't realize less engineering majors means less competition for job offers in the workforce 🗿
School beat the passion out of her.
Unfortunately the current public education system was designed to produce factory workers and tax payers, not to help students reach their potentials.
NINE MINUTES?
Sasuga PBox
I was about to say she could audition for the next xenoblade but then I remembered elira can't really do a British enough accent 🤣
As an engineering Student I have to say that what you learn has many uses, but also studying sucks ass... Dont recommend...
+1
The "why are you trying so hard" comments are super toxic actually and thats also when you know that all people around you are too casuals.
Look... she says that, but she's kinda wrong...?
Idk it's late and I'm kinda rambling but I think I said what I wanted to?
oof gave me ptsd
This is why I really dislike the word 'tryhard'
