- 03.28.2022 | 10:09 AM | SAN DIEGO - A SDPD officer spotted the male driver of the KIA traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Broadway in downtown San Diego.
The officer attempted to stop the driver and the driver fled at high speed.
The driver ran through several red lights.
The driver finally stopped at Broadway and 22nd St.
The driver refused to comply with the officers orders and surrender.
He started throwing items out of his car, threatening to kill the officers, & swearing at the officers.
After 30-40 minutes, he got out of the car, but still did not comply fully with the officers orders.
The suspect then started to run away and officers gang tackled the suspect and arrested him.

The black cop that was the first man in and clinched up with him first is a real one. As someone who's been there, being the first one in to make contact on an aggressive suspect is a scary ordeal and you are pretty likely to eat a shot or two on the way in. Respect to him for stepping up.

I've been there myself. I've got a couple 5150s in my life from being broken and not able to cope. It was actually law enforcement that finally helped me through my struggle with just a conversation and care from an Eldorado county officer. I will always respect our officers. Instead of shooting me or tazing me and tackling me he/they talked me through a lot.

Sad part is that not all of our citizens get treated this way. We do have some very trigger happy cops in our society which is costing police departments Millions so tax payer dollars. I am happy this ended well. Hope this guy get the help he needs as you stated so well.
So many cases where officers shoot people suffering from mental illness instead of using nonlethal methods. All because they claim they were scared for their life. Just surround the person and once you know he is unarm then you can tackle him. Not that difficult.

@@ncbfightlife2762 A person going through a mental episode is unpredictable, hence you take precautions... I have seen too many who just happen to draw a weapon when least expected. One shot an officer who was trying to talk to him. Yes there are officers who over react at times as we have seen, but no one wants to be the one taking the nap 6 deep.

Not going to lie. The cop on the microphone is super chill. Literally that’s how they need to defuse things. Not demand and threaten people like they always do. This is how to do it. Talk to the person like a normal human. Will make them feel far more calm and willing to cooperate versus yelling at them with threatening demands .
Totally agree. I used to be a corrections officer. 9/10 people would cooperate with me with this type of approach, but there was always that 1 that would want to fight no matter what. I worked beside some officers that would be demanding and rude and they would make even some of the nicer inmates lose their sh#t over simple stuff like yard time.
But he didn’t calm down at all. Police take so much abuse. From scum.
@@trvsnch far too many cops / officers want to come across aggressive and demanding. It doesn’t work. All they do is infuriate the suspect and make matters worse. Being chill and chatting with the person as being real is the way to do it. They know they f’d up. There is no need to jam demands and harsh insults if the situation is tame. To many cops just want to act all big shot. These cops are chill AF and did there job greatly.
