Thank you Jerry for sharing this wonderful video. I have shared with my wife and will share with other family members. I found it very enjoyable and informative from start to finish.
As a young girl, I was in Brownies and our troup put flags on Veterans graves for Decoration Day in Leavenworth KS. Enjoyed watching your "history" video. Beautiful area.
Decoration day, what a wonderful tradition!! Thank you so much for sharing your family.. history with us. How's Romeo doing? As always, thanks for taking us along.
Jerry, thank you so very much for sharing this video. I grew up in Gainesville and my Dad Eldon Mahan and Mom Genelle Mahan and I went to church with you and your family. I love to see and hear your stories.
Very interesting..I was a state trooper in Ozark County in the 90’s. I recognize all those places and landmarks you mentioned. One of my better assignments as a trooper.
I got a kick out of you telling about your Dad using dynamite. My Dad did the same thing on a 160 acre bottom farm my Grandma inherited in 1964. The creek bottom was overgrown with trees and a little over one half mile of creek wound through it. Dad bought a Cat dozer to shove out the trees into brush piles and he used dynamite to blow the stumps he couldn't shove. One of my many jobs was to go to the pickup and fetch sticks of dynamite and bring them to Dad. He was experienced using explosives in the War. I spent the remainder of my childhood, until I went off to college gathering up sticks, limbs and roots from that bottom field and dragging them to burned out brush piles. By the time I inherited the farm 40 years later the brush piles were all gone and the creek was straightened and levied. With the exception of my four years in college I farmed that bottom for 55 years.
Thank you. This video is extra-special to me. I realize it’s probably boring to most people, but it evokes a multitude of wonderful memories for me. Thanks to everyone that watches.

By hand with a tractor 😎
I should have said, “cut, by hand, and dragged off with the little 8N tractor.” Good catch of my verbal slip-up!
