A career defined by too much too soon for me. He had the advantage of being likened to Mourinho at a time when that comparison was as good as a master key to any job in Europe, there was no rush. He should've stayed at Porto at least one more year to experience some type of challenge, which the CL would've provided, so he didn't walk into the tougher leagues thinking he knew everything. That was the root of his problem at Chelsea, he was stubborn but why wouldn't he be? His career before that was close to perfect. Ultimately I think he's a good coach who made poor career choices, but I respect the fact he's not tied himself down to football as well as the honesty that's come with age.
AVB tried to do a clean up at chelsea team, and the corrupt control of aging players at the dressing room, board wasnt strong enough to back him. JT, Drogba and Lampard at their middle 30's were finished, still decent players but nowhere what a elite club needs, they didnt allow him to, and the board were a bunch of cowards and took the old men at the squad side
RvB caused me great frustration that year. That loss to Napoli was the icing on the cake, I actually gave up completely, winning the FA Cup & CL was the furthest thing i couldve ever dreamt of tht year. And he wanted to get rid of the core, Drogba, Terry, Lamps
I will treasure that 2012 win as that core showed they could still perform. That window in 2011 held us back though. We never replaced Lamps until Fabregas came in 2014 (Moutinho or Modric were going to explode at Chelsea had they come). We never replaced DD until Diego Costa in 2014, when we could've had Falcao (a top 5 striker ITW around that time). We could've also had Hulk, who was physically ready for PL football and could have been the inverted right-sided player that we had missed since Robben.
This man must be deluded, Chelsea players basically managed themselves when they got rid of him. He was supposed to be the next Mourinho, Managerially I’d rank him below Lampard.
It’s not AVB’s fault Roman just didn’t sign any players for him, also he never wanted to leave Porto but Chelsea payed his release clause so he was forced to go. Also he won the Europa League and had an invincible Title with Porto so that should say something about his managerial skills

He was doing so well at Porto. It was too early for him to coach Chelsea. What a big disaster that was.
He didn’t want to leave porto its just that Chelsea payed is release clause so he didn’t have a choice
@@rubencarvalho7785 even when a club pays release clause, he can still refuse to go. he is not forced to leave.
