Yes they do. Not like IISER’s or IITs. It for BSc and MSc students not for research purposes.

Yes. There are hostels for MSc Girls as far as I know.

I was a postdoc in CMI. I did not give any entrance exam for CMI.
But to prepare for any entrance exam there are few tips I would share.
1. Check syllabus and mark distribution between topics.
2.. Solve their previous year exam tests within the time bound.
3. Last month before the entrance exam, every week you should try to attempt a two mock test with a clock.
