  • Our fingerprints are what make us unique -- but they're also home to a world of information hidden in molecules that reveal our actions, lifestyles and routines. In this riveting talk, chemist Simona Francese shows how she studies these microscopic traces using mass spectrometry, a technology that analyzes fingerprints in previously impossible detail, and demonstrates how this cutting-edge forensic science can help police catch criminals. (Note: This talk contains descriptions of sexual violence.)

My issue with these technologies is their ultimate application. With the new array of biometric sensors and fingerprint scanners in phone and IoT is that you could walk up to a building, open the door and your data is captured without you knowing. Then relayed to brands, marketing companies to target you with advertising or messaging in situ

    I really like this presentation!!!
It is kind a scary story, but it is worth it. I think it is a new way to solve crimes. Crimes will decrease as they soledBy using right technology as she said. But everywhere we have two side of the coin. And of course fingerprints can be used as setup. Everyone should be carefully. And follow the recommendation, like “don’t touch anything in someone’s house”. I think it will help you to stay safe. Love yourself and your loved one!

    • @mauriceduijn9213

It does remove it for some time but then your body will stil sweat the drugs out but that depends the time after use. I give it like a half hour tops protection if the drugs is present in the body. During such a crime u will sweat deu to stres so in the end it wont treuly help to get away with it.
This is my theory but I do know the treu power of these machines and it is realy insane how accurate they can provide the smallest results.

programmer here - as far as android is concerned, we use the android sdk to detect finger print. We have no direct access to the fingerprint. We cannot know how it looks. We can only authenticate a given fingerprint with what has been saved before (to which we have no access to). Though, I'm uncertain if google can access your fingerprint. They MADE this SDK, so its natural to think that they can access your fingerprint.

If you mean in general, the organic noise is way too high. Remember that cancer cells are the same as your own with minor DNA changes. You need an MRI or x-ray/CT for that, depending on the cancer.

@@kidaniels8199 I'm sorry about your labels, most of which are clearly self-affixed. But I have to admit, I have a hard time believing your first claim, that you're intelligent. That's clearly not the case. And there are lots of evidence and testing being done, but a lot of what you're describing is physiologically impossible. And when dealing with criminal cases, you have to have 'beyond a reasonable doubt', which none of what you describe could ever do, even if it were possible, unless you have scientific evidence for it. And if the technology to 'discover' these 'things' has existed for years, yet no one has ever found a shred of evidence for it despite testing, that's a problem. Like you said, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. But we need proof for legal proceedings.
P.S. If you wish to be taken seriously in the future when talking about science, I'd learn to write and spell properly, and also drop the pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo and stick to the science. Otherwise people will think you're just insane. Or they're dumb enough to believe you. Either way, not a good thing.

I am not the criminal but I know one simple thing that do not ever leave anything behind when you commit a crime and concealing begins with hairs and fingerprints and from their list grows like CCTV capture from nearby or anywhere , cell phone location, car no. etc. !
If one is really desperate to get rid of somebody than these below steps one may wanna follow :-
    1. Apply cream on your whole body and hair gel with minimum odor !
2.Apply silver paint cream on your face !
    3. Leave cell phone or any other communication device but can take wireless if one is with accomplice !
    4. Take electric bike if one can otherwise prepare to do jogging through lot of shortcuts and may be for a marathon !
    5. Always take account of the security in the area of the crime !
    6. Disconnect relations or continue to maintain the close relations which depends on the state of mind of the criminal or the situation !
7.Always wear black clothes and small cloth to cover properly the face if needed on the CRIME NIGHT !
    8. Chose only three occasions : Festival, carnival night or silent dark night or super stormy and rainy night !
    9. Always keep your watch and it will be best if watch is equipped with maps, compass ,timer, led light and other apps as well etc but should not able to receive or send any pings !
    10. Change most of your daily routine , outfits , habits of communication well before in advance or just make it confusing or unpredictable !
REMEMBER ...... planning, practice , observation, patience with commitment and discipline trumps everything !!

Your phone company is selling your fingerprints to other companies. The same finger print you use for security

What? I can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but the only information about your fingerprint that your phone stores is the pattern of it, not the molecular makeup of it. Not very useful

I enjoyed this video, but I'm a rape survivor and I was expecting a video about how fingerprints are formed. Instead I was told about a rape-murder and I was shocked as a result. I'm not asking for a trigger warning, but I wouldn't have clicked this video if I knew what I was getting into. I wish you had titled it appropriately

Sounds like you havn't transformed your negative experiences into positive ones yet! Mostly, the information that is provided to you on how to not let that type of negativity happen again is the value that should make you cherish that experience. Secondly, have faith that everything you experience is a gift from a loving God.
The question isn't 'is this a beneficial experience?' But rather, "how is this a beneficial experience."
      -All the best!

Honestly, there are triggers everywhere in life. It's terrible what you went through; i've also been raped and attacked by a man larger than me. But jesus, at some point you have to realize that these tragedies make you strong; and go about life with more savvy and know how. Not to continue to be triggered by everything and shirk from the reminders of your experience like you can't handle it. You're way WAY stronger than you think.
