Nice Job... I'm amazed how many bartenders can't make this drink. They usually present something looking like a road weary Mojito and taste as bad. Yours, my friend, looks, and I'm sure tastes, like the classic of old and I can smell the cold mint from here... Thanks!
I love a good mint julep but I am always reluctant to order one at a bar because I have had too many that aren't any good (I've seen bars use creme de menthe for this drink). But I would definitely order one from this guy's bar any day. Well done.
Some places fresh mint is very inaccessible unless you buy the plant and mind it at home. Where I’m at, the mint from the grocery is almost flavourless that the drink tastes Like straight bourbon and ice. Plus, that mint doesn’t keep well. Black dots appear on the leaves 3 days after buying it.. Growing the plant at home isn’t really an option because I’m always out of the house and sucks to have an extra responsibility anyways.
I do all my juleps with bookers. You want a higher proof like bookers for a heavy iced drink. I get my bottles of bookers for $40. They are talking about upping the price to $100
theyre awesome for the summer. refreshing way to drink bourbon. It is very bourbon forward at first, tastes best after a couple minutes when the ice has a chance to dilute a bit, balances out the drink.
Super late to the party but it’s different because a smash is the addition of mint and lemon quarts or wedges whatever you prefer really . You’re getting the juice and oils from the lemon . Traditionally of course ,there so many variations on the smash .
Good job, but he makes a total mess with the crushed ice! Look how much ice is flying over the bar. I would kick his ass, if he would do that behind my bar!
So I'm assuming you also don't eat at restaurants either? I've worked at many high ends restaurants and spoiler alerts not a single chef wears gloves as they hand prepare your food lol
Noemi Pelagalli .... He's using Bookers Bourbon, after drinking one or two of those I don't think you would notice his hands on the ice. Bookers is delish.
You guys who say that Jim Meehan is a bad bartender, do you know who he is? He's one of the most well-known and successful bartenders in the world.

Thanks for the lesson. They were talking about making coffee tables and liking coffee, and I thought, why not a mint julep, and here it is, tasty.

A Bourbon-Mint Snow Cone complimented with crushed ice touched by his hand. That's what I call "Hand Made".
I hope he washed his hands before making that drink. Otherwise your also drinking a hint of skin oil. 😂
Jim beam works great with mint juleps!
That's right my friend !!!!
Bowman Brothers is better.
If this guy says beautiful one more time...so precious
I really want to try that drink right there.
This guy is adding Booker's Bourbon. Woah I have to try this with a high quality bourbon myself now
Good to use a higher ABV (like Bookers, but anything 50+%) works) as the ice dilutes this drink quite a bit
Good job on not muddling the mint 👍🏼
Class & style
Bravo 💚🙏
Great Job. Thank-You. :-)
looks classic😊😊😊
The bourbon he is using is BOOKER's Bourbon
Luis Duenas $60 a bottle. What would they charge for a Mint Julep drink at the bar using Booker's Bourbon?
$15-18 depending on where it's at...
And I'd pay it for a fucking Booker's Mint Julep that's prepared that well.

Damn I want to sip one !
Angostura bitter ?
I make one in a bottle with makers Mark and keep it in the freezer.
That looks amazing, fantastic video! #Incredible #BartendingDoneRight
never had a MJ, are they good? so far just straight bourbon for me-but i'm always open to new suggestions.

Do I have to use overproof burbon? I cannot seem to find any here.
Look up "cask strength". You're bound to find something...
you can use any bourbon but a higher proof, bolder flavor bourbon is better because the ice will dilute and you want your bourbon to hold up to it.
Angostura?
“As you swizzle, you don’t want to swizzle too much.”
I prefer powder sugar than simple syrup.
Anyone know: what size are those cups?
around 32cl to 50cl
What brand of Bourbon is this?
Bensmcc ..... Bookers
What’s the name of the object al 2:23
The stick he's mixing it with? LOL!! He says it a couple times. A "swizzle" or a "swizzle stick". lol
Pewter?! Isn't that a lead alloy?
i wonder what the hell does that tastes like
Bitter??
Isn't this basically a whisky smash?

So you're not making a classic version? Well at least you let us know at the beginning.
Haha. Kinda defuses the bitching you were going to do about it, huh?
I wasn't going to complain.
yet you still found a way to let it be known you were disappointed... lol
That's how comments work.
Never go full Schwizzle
For snizzle my nizzle.
man how much this guy charges mugs for a drink
please put subtitle on your video!!!!! italian please!
Blimey! I dont like the way he holds the Ice.
Sorry but the ice mound is too much for a cocktail and touching it by hand just put me off.
Yikes, I’m no germaphobe by any means, but please don’t ever fully cup and mold my ice with your hand... that was so offputting
Good job, but he makes a total mess with the crushed ice! Look how much ice is flying over the bar. I would kick his ass, if he would do that behind my bar!
Good thing it's his bar ...and probably more successful than your bar
That’s pretty normal and it gets even more when your bar is filled with guests
Mint Julap suck no matter who makes them.
Sorry but touching the ice with hands is no for me :(
You're an idiot.
So I'm assuming you also don't eat at restaurants either? I've worked at many high ends restaurants and spoiler alerts not a single chef wears gloves as they hand prepare your food lol

And the more complex the dish, the more it is touched.
the odar it not you
Looks like someone started bar tending yesterday.
Bad Bartender !!
