Nice to see the results from the day we crossed paths. Very nice. It's really nice to see the brookie pond doing better. They're looking great in there.
I just wanted you to know that your videos are great!!! When I watch them they comfort me, I've went thrue bad heart break, they make me happy, I appreciate it.
Outstanding! I really enjoy the underwater footage. It’s incredibly interesting to watch. I think you’re right, that’s the second time you got that brookie with the distinctive mark on its side. That’s very cool! Nicely done!
Finally got out on the ice today. With my Estwing tomohawk cut into the ice about 14" took forever 😂 anyways cought a 10" rainbow. Was worth it. Thanks for your time and effort btw bro.
Those Cutbows are the most beautiful trout IMHO. The color hews and markings are just amazing. Those shad pattern Gulp minnows and light jig heads sure do the trick! Another great video…👍🏻💥
3-6” safe but dangerous 6-10” good for people/small groups 10-15” lower limit for snowmobiles and four wheelers 15-35” safe for most small vehicles 35+ safe for small trucks but not recommended
@@bassntroutfishing hey I know you don’t like to reveal fishing spots, but I thought id shoot my shot. What lake is this and what kind of vehicle/trails can make it here
i would cry my eyes out if i got to fish waters like these. We dont have big brook trouts like this in Sweden, the biggest one ive ever caught was about 800 grams
That place looks amazing I'd like to set up do some ice fishing call set some beaver and muskrat traps and call some coyotes at the same time that's my dream spot
Not sure if you use the axe for a special reason but you should look into spud bars, i use mine a lot with early ice and it makes me feel 100% safer around open shore and open water. Easy to chop holes too!
Mannn I want brookies like the here in Colorado where I am, we have some footballs in one spot I know but it’s impossible to get there late winter when it’s capped because of the snow drifts
You just better be sure the ice is safe especially if there is an active beaver or even a colony in that trout pond. The main beaver RUN' will be thin because of their body heat will make the ice covering their main run thinner which can seriously put you in danger fast especially if your alone. The water in the main run is deeper because of their activity and usually free of sticks and debris making the bottom soft, double dangerous..
I take a lot of kids and inexperienced adults. Thank you for turning some fish back. If you kept all the fish you caught last Summer, this video would be fishless.😢
So you’d rather eat all the small ones, which have never even produced any new fish yet, and which require that you eat 2 or 3 times as many individuals to get the same amount of meat that you can get out of one large fish? You’re not really thinking this through the way you should. Some of the big ones may be past their prime, and may have already produced plenty of offspring, whereas the medium-sized ones (which are apparently the ones targeted for eating in this video) are likely just coming in to breeding maturity, and have a lot more breeding left to do in them than bigger fish (plus, again, the bigger fish provide more meat, so fewer individuals must be caught to equal the same amount of meat for the frying pan than the smaller individuals.) It is therefore wrong-headed thinking to always target ONLY the medium-sized fish, and always let the big ones go. Targeting ONLY fish of any certain size could have its drawbacks. If you’re going to catch and cook, then at the very least, cull BOTH sizes as long as doing so seems sustainable. That’s a key point. As long as it appears to be sustainable*, then take a variety of sizes, and leave a variety of sizes behind. Doing so will probably be the best option for the species if catching and keeping is on your agenda. Taking too many of the small-medium sized fish could cause a shortage of mature breeding adults at some point down the line. Today’s youngsters are tomorrow’s breeders-but aside from all of that, my view is, as long as there is a fair abundance of wild fish in an area, then go ahead and take your limit if you so desire (especially if it appears that few other anglers know about your honey hole and are fishing it), and as long as doing so seems sustainable. But if a place gets too much fishing pressure, then it’s probably best to leave the wild fish alone and move on to greener pastures. (I’m not talking about fishing in any place that’s regularly stocked with planted fish from the hatchery here. I’m in favor of letting the tourists take their kids to catch those fish, which normally don’t hold a candle to the wild trout when it comes to quality of eating, anyway.) I’m more focused on the places that are too inaccessible to be planted with trout on a regular basis; those places that do get regularly stocked tend to get fished out in a matter of days, anyway. Obviously, the ice fishing done in this video was in a much more wild setting, where wild trout live. That’s the kind of place that I’m talking about when it comes to evaluating how much fishing pressure a place can take for catching and keeping and cooking. Personally, I’m not a catch and release kind of fisherman, so I only like to target spots where I can catch and keep wild trout in the first place. *How can you gauge whether or not fishing for wild trout in a place is “sustainable”? Well, no one knows what the future holds, and whether or not environmental factors and increased fishing pressure will ever be an issue in a place where you have found decent fishing for wild trout, such as the spot in this video. By and large, you can only go by how things are right now, if you don’t really know what’s going to happen down the line. So based on that, how is the fishing? If it is good this time, how is it when you come back the next time? Is it still as good as it was before? I’ve fished for trout (wild trout, not fish truck trout) in places where the fishing was good for decades on end, and where it appears that it’s going to stay that way. When you find such a place, and if you don’t want to see it get fished out, then I think that you just have to try to gauge how much pressure it can handle. It’s real nice to know of places where you can go take your limit pretty much anytime you want to because you’re not gonna go there every day, (no one is, as it’s fairly inaccessible, and takes some effort to get to in the first place). So on the rare occasions that you do go, you might be able to catch and keep your limit. Best of luck to all.
why are they called trout when they're not? Brook trout belong to the char "branch" of the salmonids, not the salmo's. Same goes for lake trout, they are also chars, not trout.
Rainbow trout are members of the Pacific trout and salmon subgroup of the salmon family (Salmonidae) which also includes the redband trout, cutthroat trout and golden trout. The family Salmonidae includes the salmon, trout, char, freshwater whitefish, taimen, lenok, and grayling. However, when talking about salmon, the discussion is generally referring to two different groups-fishes in the Oncorhynchus genus and Salmo genus. A simple Google would have helped you. The salmo group are salmon not trout.
Snow and ice doesn’t hurt their skin believe me. It takes a lot more to kill a trout than most people think. Most people are just used to catching the hatchery pets that die from literally anything. I caught a fish in this video that I caught 2 months previous and that another guy caught right after me. Pretty resilient fish.
Do, you know I subscribed to watch you catch clean and cook fish 🐟 and then you started to let the big ones go and only keep and cook the small ones, and today you talked about keeping a big one to keep and cook, but then you keep a small one but with no cooking part of the video? Because you went to another lake and again you were catching big cut through fish and now no cook up at all! Try catching and keeping a big one and cook it up on the day of the video! I really hate catch and releases!!! If not I am out!😮😢😢😮

Not necessarily, just make sure the ice is clear and strong before you walk out. Just be careful and there’s nothing to worry about

How do you know that they are hybrid so fast?
What's the way you tell?
A regular bonneville cutthroat is pretty easy to ID. Bigger and fewer spots. The hybrids have more spots and smaller spots and have more pink and red.

Please let me know Why you always let the big ones go and keep the very small ones to eat?????????😮😢😢😮😮😢
That’s how wild life management is for big trout.. you eat all the big ones and there will only be small fish left
The big fish are the ones that produce more offspring. They are important for the lake so better keep the mid size ones
