Like Ted Lasso says- be a goldfish. You know who the happiest animal in the world is? A goldfish. Why? It's got a 10-second memory.

This was a wonderful insight into how to manage the mental part of the game. I just watched you on pbtv. Rerun from Atl I think, but you missed several times in a row, Simple unforced errors. I thought to myself, shit it happens to everyone, even the goat. I noticed you kind of just shrugged it and looked ready for the next point. I imagined what goes thru your head in that moment and now I see the video that breaks it down perfectly. Good talk on how to deal. 👏

I feel like one of Ben’s greatest strengths is his reading of his opponents’ weaknesses and adapting his play to take advantage of them. Of course, having his shot arsenal helps tremendously, as, say, you can’t target someone’s backhand if you aren’t all that accurate in finding it. In other news, question: at 1:20, Ben hits a forehand where the follow through doesn’t come across his body. I’ve been playing around with this recently and find it to be a great way to get more topspin. What, if anything, is it called, though? A forehand roll?

Pick a different reset trigger. 😜

Start by laying your paddle down gently on the ground, take a second to breathe, pick it back up. New point. It’s helped me.

Always (toss) … into the net, against your partner, or even a back wall. Just let it rip! Now you’re at least 5.0! 😂

But Ben - how do I mentally reset when my opponent has top-decked his perfect aggro wombo-combo and I keep drawing lands? 🤬😂🤬

Well, this seemed like more of an over view rather than any actual tips. Be stronger mentally…okay, and I do this how? It’s like telling someone in a agitated state of mind to just relax. If this was the first of a series of clips on the mental game, that fine. But if this was a stand alone, it was useless and disappointing.

@@aaron_pickleball that’s like saying touch your nose and get instant strength. It sounds good, but doesn’t explain anything.

@@PickleballBrand…finding a way to have your best mental state is highly important for pickleball…. You’re right, great tip! Yes, we all know that. We also know it’s great to be in the zone. Great statements, but without substance. Click your heels together three times and saying there’s no place like home is also great advice, but without the shoes, worthless.

@@jeffcaptain6738it sounds like you need a mental reset before you watch the video again and take better notes.
What works for him WILL NOT EVER work for 100% of people, so GO OUTSIDE, play games, and TRY STUFF. That simple, I know you’re upset with life right now but Jesus dude lol
Find a different mindset, don’t even think of scores, don’t think of mistakes as mistakes or as a negative thing, etc

Thumbs NOT up! Derailment becomes serious when your partner counsels the clowns on the left and jokers on the right (courts) ... then she yells across all the courts ... while standing in no mans land. How to reset then?
