I'm late to the party but seeing that old barn wood, I have to comment. I had a barn on my place that was built pre 1850 and it wasn't salvageable. Hand hewn beams, originally mortised and tenoned but the chimney was leaning/crumbling and there was no foundation to speak of. But much of the wood, which was all heart pine, was still solid. I couldn't save it as a barn, but I took out all the wood that was still solid and after MANY hours of metal detecting, pulling nails, cutting, planing, and sanding, I turned it into tongue and groove flooring. It's now the floor in a couple rooms in my farmhouse. So glad I repurposed it, and it looks great. I don't like to let old things die either!
Dozer said to Tractor, "Don't send a boy to do a man's job!" Your right Matt, best part was uncovering the lettering on passenger door. First thing I saw... absolutely terrifying, my man. I've reared an 8N up before. My advice (take it for what you will, armchair tractor driver and all) - don't pull anything with the 3-point hitch unless you're sure it will move. If you think something is stuck - like a truck in a mudhole, or a stump, or a 60 year old dead semi - then aim the tractor at it, pull your tow strap from the semi under the tractor and tie it to the rear axle. Then go in reverse to pull it. The worst thing that can happen is that you go nowhere and spin the wheels. Instead of rotating the front axle up and over and squashing you, going in reverse will push the nose into the ground. Newton's 3rd Law.
I love your whole project, so honest and with a real passion of old plant and machinery which in today's 'clean' electric vehicle society, great to see! Paul from Donegal..👍
