  • "The most distressing thing is that I can't remember what I did ten minutes ago, never mind ten years ago."
We spoke to John - a 93-year-old living with Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia - about his experiences with the condition.

What a wonderful person your grandad is! ❤

Sounds as if he's still charming and energetic, and a thoroughly nice man. His comments about 'not expecting too much of me' and 'feeling lost' are very telling, and I'll try to remember them when dealing with a family member who has similar problems. Thank you, both.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Your grandpa seems like such a nice man. My mom was recently diagnosed with the same illness, but she is only 61. It's terrifying and I have no idea what we are up against. It is comforting to see that your grandpa is still himself, he's still in there. This gives me a whole new perspective.

My mother was 58. It's so very sad. At least this lovely man had retirement, xxx

My dad was 77 when he died .......he was my rock and such a clever man. The decline was brutal. Please God we find a cure for this horrible disease.
