      @@RockyMountainFarmer that’s saying something when you’re farming. Especially when you’re having one of those days and absolutely goes right. You refer to sacks of taters, how many pounds is a sack?

    60’ header seems nuts to me too. Even if it flexed hitting hills on two sides I’d think you’d be digging a rut between them. But I’m not a farmer so probably not thinking about it right. Looking forward to seeing you guys eat up some more acres!

    • @RockyMountainFarmer
      @RockyMountainFarmer  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, 60 foot headers seems insane but I know they have those big flex headers.

    I know this is probably a silly question, but here we go... does the windrow get used? Like baled? Or does it get plowed into the field?

    • @RockyMountainFarmer
      @RockyMountainFarmer  2 месяца назад +2

      Yes, we bail it into straw bales and sell it to the dairy and they use it for bedding for their cows. But that’s a good question.

  • @johnhatt1219

    You could use them for feed as potato sludge

    Wondering the choice of combine. Why not american made ones..?

    • @RockyMountainFarmer
      @RockyMountainFarmer  2 месяца назад

      Well this one is owned by agco so it is American just assembled in Italy. We just wanted one that performs well and since this one was like 600000 dollars less than the Deere it only made sense

    Was this a gift to yourself to make you feel better about that Peterbilt tipping over? That poor truck 😥

    • @RockyMountainFarmer
      @RockyMountainFarmer  2 месяца назад +9

      Yeah, we didn’t expect the Peterbilt to tip over but looking at the crack it looks like it had been cracked for a while so it was only a matter of time, but our old combine we had last year would never be able to do as many acres as we have this year so we had to upgrade. didn’t really have a choice

      This was the header that was used in the demo so that’s the one we bought it was discounted. I’m sure you could put a 50 foot on this but you would have to go a little bit slower so I don’t know how much more you would accomplish.

    • @Failure_Is_An_Option

      Wider is not better. The right width for the machine, the terrain, the access. That is what makes it the right header.

    Bummer about the Pete. Those double wall frames are such a shit design. You may have been able to see the crack start on the very bottom.... and that's a big maybe. Bet you guys look them all over pretty close from here on out regardless.
