He has got such a sweet and gentle voice. Tears were his sustenance yet he longed to return to the island at the end of his life and live there like he did before...
The guitar is out of tune, terrible intonation and if anyone else played it would sound terrible. But you are absolutely right, this song moved me. Purest form of music. I feel like talking any music theory about this song detracts from it. It can’t be covered. It is that man’s song on whatever guitar he plays it on.

Was watching a documentary about the shipwreck and when I heard them say that the coconut guitar still exists I had to come check it out and I'm so glad I did this song is beautiful!
New band name: Emo Castaways 😂 I honestly went into this video thinking it would be more of a cheerful song, a song they made to lift their spirits. Which I now realize is a naive thought. I can’t imagine how tough it was to survive what they went through. Hats off and major major respect to these humans.
Only just heard of this story and when it was mentioned that Kolo fashioned a guitar from the wreckage and a coconut shell I HAD to hear the music that came from such a trying time. When I say that it was immediate tears, I mean like... streaming down my face. R.I.P. Kolo, thank you for your story and may your eternity be filled with bliss.
Thanks for the uploading :because I went to the high school but in the late 70s and one of the.m Luke won the South Pacific supper heavyweight title as a boxer later

yes he does. It is such an emotional song
He's probably had several real life jobs that aren't very entertaining to most of the audience.
When it talk about the most purest forms of music, this is it.
