Spoken like a true visionary. Yes welcome him with open arms because at the end of the Day He is a CHAMPION!!!!! Once a champion always a champion and once you’ve tasted victory nothing else satisfies you like winning AGAIN and now that he has entered into COD it just shows how hungry he is to win again. Crim6 and Clayster said it a few weeks back Current Pros aren’t playing to WIN they are playing to keep their jobs. What owner wants a roster full of players just playing to survive to keep a paycheck? Not a single 1, that’s why all those players got dropped. And that Mentality of “He’s taking our jobs” thinking style is only for the weak minded individuals that never knew struggle Tell me this HECZ if you had these kinds of resources 10 years ago, How would much talent wouldn’t flourished and how much would the scene have grown by now???? I also agree with the challengers division. Maybe that 1 pro you are talking about should be Doug “Censor” Martin and snag 3 pros from other orgs. The reason I bring his name up is cause he’s a team player and he wants to win so bad he’s prob sell his left 🥜 LOL
Mental is accomplished in another Esport. He already understands the life style, he has played on main stage, he won't haave those nerves. He understands what it is like to scrim 5 or 6 hours a day. All he has to do is learn the game and that is the easy part. He was a pro in a shooter, he knows how to shoot straight. It will be an easy transition.
If you think shooting straight in a 3rd person cover shooter is even remotely comparable to shooting straight in a 1st person shooter then please explain how basketball talent doesn't translate to football. Both are just moving a ball. Same thing, right?
Webhead if your good at shooting games you can 9.7/10 times pick up on another game pretty quickly. And I’m sure he’s played at least a little bit of cod in his life
@@webhead4414 I can't compare basketball and football. All shooters are extremely similar though. Put a reticle on a character model and pull the trigger.
EbahRosita the problem is space. Do you feel good when the bring in a new person from outside for a better salary than you’re currently making to do a job that you can do maybe even better because you’ve been with the company for a couple of years? Yeah, probably not.
Allen Brantley The amateurs are amateurs though. It makes sense that the best gears of war player of all time is able to take a cod roster spot. He’s an established, professional player from another scene, and is probably really good at cal of duty also. It makes sense. The amateurs need to grow up, if anything this should motivate them.
The literal only people that are complaining about it are the deluded 12 year old kids that go on COD and PUB stomp once and then think that they deserve a chance at competing in the big leagues. Literally look through the comments of this video, even the replies to this comment you have salty little kids crying about not being a pro because they have a positive KD. @Marvin St Johns @Allen Brantley I suppose we were all the same when we were kids too, everyone wanted to be a pro on MW2
Anyone thinking “who is this Mental guy?” should really watch some of his Gears highlights. Billy is a legend in that scene and is known for doing “mental” things in-game. Super excited to see where he goes in the CDL
xcisionx unbelievable triple body kills he has no business winning do to his movement and reaction time go watch his highlights and stop being a skeptic! kid is the best player to touch the sticks on gears along with xplosive and Summuns
xcisionx he’s the only player in Gears who basically just goes rogue permanently. Literally will see 3 people and will go and challenge them solo and kill all 3 90% of the time.
People don't understand how long MentaL has been competing. All the OGs remember playing against MentaL and his team of squeakers in Gow2. Bunch of 10 year olds frying grown men. This dude has been putting in work and deserves this shot. Excited to see where he goes in competitive cod.
Someone has an old recording when mental was like 10 years old beating SYN Nasstty, 😂... his voice sounded mad young And Nasstty was one of the best gears players at that time
Love this topic H3cz! Don't forget Enable, Crimsix, and Huke from other eSports. Controller and console FPS malleability. Love to see and hear it. You're the GOAT for a reason brother
Mental comes in and goes ham, it’s gonna open the door for more GOW pros to transition over as well. Can’t blame owners/managers for thinking outside the box when it comes to talent. It’s their job to find talent wherever it is.
I’m glad hecz is trying to bring notice to the challengers scene. Overwatch league while entering its 4th season soon has almost no coverage on its tier 2 scene. As long as people like hecz are here to keep the scene alive cod will continue to grow.
You bring up some good points! My main thing is this all comes down to who's hungrier to make it to the main roster, who can get their name out there, and as you said create content create a good name. It will be interesting to see if other organizations will try to create the storyline/narratives you spoke on with this player.
when Mental announced he was leaving Gears, if I was a organisation, i would taken the leap and picked him up. Not a lot of people have the drive or mental attitude that he has, he's won multiple championships similar to Froste in a different shooter game, he's got what it takes. I also believe that organisations should embrace there substitutes more. Yes run your core team, but if you know a substitute is better at a certain game mode or map, put them in for that game! make a story line for it. I'm 100% certain that there's people who are amazing at SnD, but doesnt hack it in hardpoint etc. and vice versa. that person who's being subbed out shouldnt feel disheartened. it's for the better of the team and it shows how strong of an organisation you are! It happens in Overwatch, League and multiple different ESports.
I don't think substitutes for different game modes can happen in COD. Team chemistry is just too important. To practice different game modes with different players it will take significantly longer to work efficiently together. If you could even get to that point which I doubt because COD pros is full of huge egos. I think it would take years of small steps towards substitute use to make it a reality.
Subbing players in and out for different maps is dumb and shouldn't be apart of cod. The reason we have different modes is to test how broad of a skill set a team has, meaning you have to be good at everything to win
I agree with this 100%, I’ll remember the dash Substitution to bring a good snipe into SnD for a long time coming, it was one of the most entertaining things to watch in cod esports in a long time, and I hope substitutes get use more often.
Also more substitutions will bring all the players together more as a whole, bc they can say we really one as a team and no one is left feeling like they felt useless to the team and making sure everyone has the right to celebrate a championship bringing team chemistry together on all fronts
A draft for CDL would actually help a lot with this. Even if they don’t play at least they can sign for a year to a team. I don’t know if it would work but it would be cool.
Easy as this, as a fan of Cod esports, and your previous brand, and now NRG and Huntsmen (since 2011)and knowing alot of the story lines in professional cod/and other esports, I can say I find it amazing to see other pros from other competitive scenes switch games and be successful, because as we know, it is not the easiest to be good at one game and then be amazing at another as well, trying new games and falling in love with the grind is part of the thing that keeps all of us gamers turning on our PCs/Xbox/plantations etc. Also I think it gives us as a whole (the esports community) an edge that conventional sports do not have, which is at any point in a pros career can say he I wanna play this game instead of the one I’m currently professional at, and they can do that in an amount of time that won’t make them irrelevant in the esports world, unlike the conventional sports world. Look at Tim Tebow, hit hard times in football, and made the switch to baseball and is hardly ever talked about now. Not saying it can’t be dont in sports, but in my opinion it is something that can definitely help esports grow when it comes to entertainment and gaining popularity in the “mainstream” media and entertainment world. Which esports becoming mainstream is something that call gamers and esports fans should want, in my opinion.
Thoughts ---> I always loved to fact that growing a brand in gaming can have multiple routes instead of 1. You can either pick a team that wins everything, and therefore gets talked about. Or you setup brand principles and pick the right people that fit that principles. In this way you create the story first and winning is a result. That second option will last way longer because it's not based on a gamble. It will maybe take a bit longer. But you give fans way more options on how they can reflect to you as a brand. So when you need a roster change because your team ain't winning, you still give fans multiple reasons to keep supporting your team.
In any business people start to feel entitled and don't want to consider that someone can come in and eat your lunch if you don't stay on top of your game. This player seems hungry enough to prove himself and he should absolutely have that opportunity. All those who appose it in the league should realize that they could be potentially standing in the way of themselves in the future. Great to see the view from a business minded person as yourself
yes hecz, love this, people need to deal with the fact a good player is a good player and his achievements are the reason for this move not just some random am joining a tier1 team
Just like how Sinatraa switched to valorant from Overwatch. Was mvp and champ in OWL now is considered one of the best in Valorant. Talent coming in from other esports brings in the viewership and the storylines. I love it
Man long story short, when all the jetpack shit started on cod. I was drawn towards Gears of War, got around 50 days played on 4th one, I loved Optic Gaming, Mental is my favorite Gears player, I never got into a team but I loved the game, now 5th Gears comes out, boom, it's hot trash, and I came back to Cod MW late. Now I got to watch scump daily again like 2010s, I turned 18 and now that I'm getting involved in the pro scene, it's really a dream come true to see Mental come out of the fog to play CoD, amazing dudes.
What Hector said is what anyone in business would do. How else would you get attention of people. And those guys from the old optic every last one if it is Halo team, Gears team, CoD team old members all of them are champions or have enough skill to learn a new game and try to dominate. What is to hate. If I hate my brother for making more money than me then that is on me since am not good enough and I should put more effort into my work so that I can get what I want or beat my brother in the case.
I think it's great for the sport. Esports has so much more room for crossover athletes than traditional sports, so excited to see what this guy can do when he picks up the sticks in CW.
I honestly don’t see a problem with pro players form different games other than call of duty trying something new i think it’s great put them on the challenger team and be talked about I’ll sit here and support either way
I feel for both sides cause there’s a lot of really hard working and talented players in the amateur scene that would kill to just even be on the bench of a main squad, but aren’t picked up mostly do to marketability and how camera friendly they are. I get it’s the name of the game, content comes first, but still makes me feel for those guys grinding their asses of that’ll probably never get picked up regardless of how good they get
Super sad to see Mental leave Gears however in a business standpoint its the correct decision seeing as he is a beyond above average player on shooters in general, and Gears is on a massive decline for the competitive scene. The guy was placing high in Apex Legends tourneys while competing at the highest league of Gears. He also has proved his skill with older CoD games when he used to compete in those. Not only his skill as a player but the knowledge and experience he has in high intensity matches is insane, literally the most composed player on any shooter.
That’s the best thing to be able to do and you will get a nasty team in the making with a pro that already has that experience doing all the above helping 3 young guns, that’s the way it should be really for a decent amount of teams
@hecztv I 100% agree that it has nothing to do with fairness. I think this is a valuable learning opportunity for today's generation that proves nothing is promised. Every day is earned and know that nobody owes you anything. Success is based on hard work and earned luck. Treat every day like it's a tryout and you might just make it.
I would love a Frosty, Lxthul, Snakebite, Royal 2 reunion challengers team since Halo isn't exactly doing great right now. I know Royal 2 and Lxthul aren't the biggest COD guys and so maybe a Renegades, Stellur, or Bubudubu and a more seasoned vet like General, Nagafen, or Felony that go on that team would make a super interesting squad
I think whatever brings more fans that’s healthy for the league and gets us bigger is the best move. If that’s a gears champion similar to shotzzy then we do it. We have a long way to go if we’re gonna catch the NFL
100% Agree, im more interested in the LAG roster announcement since the Mental information was published, its not a slap its just a pro player that wants to test his skills on a different level.
I love gamers going to other games because it is easier for me to invest time to follow that team or esport. The only reason why I watched Florida this season was because I am a halo fan and had to watch our guy Frosty
Dudes hustling. Have to respect it. Guy who have been around a while that don't get a spot be better and make that challenge much harder for Mental. If you can't then how can you justify being on a squad.
I love how our esport is getting bigger and despite the games we had etc, our esport is still growing I mean we had wale, Michael b Jordan and other famous ppl on our lan events in our first franchise year, all thoo I do understand the challengers because I would be pretty salty or at least kinda like it’s kinda unfair because some of this guys have been in the scene for a long time but at the same time I love how other players from different esports coming in and trying
FR How much have you guys heard about the guerillas before this year, and how much have you heard about them now. It was a good move especially because hes a sub
MentaL has already proven that he’s a winner and his potential in COD is unknown meaning teams don’t know whether he’s the next scump or not so it makes sense that a team would want to sign him.
I think that any of the former Pro's without a team need to either step up their game or change their approach. For too long the Pro scene has had the same group of guys, jumping from team to team and it caused them to get complacent. I feel this type of move with Mental could only be good for the game and more importantly, create those story lines the matches need to be more entertaining. Like who doesn't want to see a non-COD player destroy veteran COD players. 100% agree with this video.
Great to see new players, im personally tired of watching the same players lose for YEARS. Like how are half of them still on a team when theres TONS of talent around the world that deserve a shot.
I think alot of the COD pros (ones without spots) are just scared/annoyed about the lack of spot on the top teams. But this doesn't give them the right to hate on Mental or whatever orgs picks him up. The facts are the man can shoot, has won alot of championships, and likely has more LAN and high level competing exp then most of the people complaining. Plain and simple if he is better then you at the game he deserves it.
I agree. It's the same mentality of a corporate job where the person that should get the raise is the one who has been working 10+ years. They have arrived late, had a poor performance and haven't put in the extra effort stay competitive. They just expect it because of their tenure. That's wack.
Why does everyone forget that enable came to cod from halo has won in both also with different rosters.. he also came on to optic during aw when karma couldnt make it to a European event won all thos.. back to back second at champs what else does he have to do to be noticed ??
DON'T SHY AWAY FROM THE TOPIC, Give me your thoughts plz.
I haven't seen an NFL team hire a rugby player by my knowledge 🤔🤷

There's never anything wrong with broadening one's horizons. I'll be watching to see how this move pays off for Mental. I wiah him luck!
new camera? looking good
Super sad to see Mental leave Gears however in a business standpoint its the correct decision seeing as he is a beyond above average player on shooters in general, and Gears is on a massive decline for the competitive scene.
Please just bring vlogs back... seriously
A pro is a pro imo Mental also brings a huge element of leadership to the table as well.
Mboze been taking killas spot on your roster forever. Big whoop
Even heczquarters has ray tracing now, impressive!!!
I love gamers going to other games because it is easier for me to invest time to follow that team or esport. The only reason why I watched Florida this season was because I am a halo fan and had to watch our guy Frosty
You’re the man been an og since the good ole green wall all love
You Inspire a community college challenger with a dream
Ahhh feels good to watch some hecz
What watch is that?
"why do I wear sunglasses at night? because the sun never sets on a badass!"
Dudes hustling. Have to respect it. Guy who have been around a while that don't get a spot be better and make that challenge much harder for Mental. If you can't then how can you justify being on a squad.
why r these not your main channel?? i thought u wanted a million subs...
Any tips on how to grow my channel?
If this was two years ago after h5 ended I would have loved to see u PJ and TJ and mental and frosty
Love this idea it’s also a smart move cause it gives other pro in different games to try and play n proof them self’s good move hecz
I mean crim was from Halo and huke if im not mistaken now he's COD champ
MentaL has already proven that he’s a winner and his potential in COD is unknown meaning teams don’t know whether he’s the next scump or not so it makes sense that a team would want to sign him.
Think about the chance Dallas took on Shottzy. This could be a same situation.
h3cz always spitting facts
Love these podcasts/interviews
I think that any of the former Pro's without a team need to either step up their game or change their approach. For too long the Pro scene has had the same group of guys, jumping from team to team and it caused them to get complacent. I feel this type of move with Mental could only be good for the game and more importantly, create those story lines the matches need to be more entertaining. Like who doesn't want to see a non-COD player destroy veteran COD players. 100% agree with this video.
When Hecz speaks you better fucking listen
Hecz takes are dope brotha
Why does everyone forget that enable came to cod from halo has won in both also with different rosters.. he also came on to optic during aw when karma couldnt make it to a European event won all thos.. back to back second at champs what else does he have to do to be noticed ??
