This was exactly the wrist angles I was trying to put into my back swing on the range today! Thanks for putting it in terms of throwing the ball. That's says it with a much easier feel.
Northern Georgia US. I’ve been playing for about 3 years and have only played in Southwest Florida. It was amazing to me when I was having to calculate different distances due to elevation. The courses weren’t in the best shape. It’s was awesome hitting a 8 180 downhill and landing pin high a few feet away from pin.
Great video mate. And so ridiculous that no other youtube coach is even close to give such comprehensible explanations about what skills you need (wrist use wise this time but could apply to everything) and most importantly, why you need them. Awesome job.
Australia....Long Reef Golf Club. Like everything in Australia, it was very laid back and somewhat haphazard...tricky to even follow the holes! Along with a 20 mph wind, it was very fun and challenging and I hIghly recommend it!
Favourite country I´ve played golf in; Barbados! It´s only a small island but a few top notch courses that I couldn´t afford to play at, but we did have a very expensive coffee at Sandy Lanes and played at the "local" course (Barbados GC) where I let TIGER play through! he as he passed us in his buggy he tipped his cap and said, thankyou so much, have a good day and I thought, what nice chap, then realised... duh! are we gonna see a vlog with Lockey??
great vlog, love the way you give a different perspective on the golf swing, its help me better understand what I'm doing and what I think I'm doing in me swing. Australia lots of golfing glory.
Hi Bruh, Glad you mentioned being left handed and playing golf right. Not only do I eat, write and throw left handed, I bat a ball left handed and played softball for years and hit my fair share of home runs. I do kick a ball right footed however. Thanks for all of the fantastic content in your vlogs. Love the kids too! Kerry Hammond - 58, Hollywood Florida
Mauritius was the best country. People were amazing; courses were spectacular - naturally stunning with great elevation changes. Weather was fabulous too. It was a one-off but I’d go back in a heartbeat
I travelled to St Thomas years ago and played Mahogany Run, amazing course. Gotta mention Predator Ridge thats about a six hour drive from Vancouver in BC too.
I didn't even think about turning the hands during middle of the golf swing. I just thought about the setup position. I just went to the driving range the other day and was able to hit straight, draw and fades with a lot more control. Just returned from not playing for 10 years and I picked up same bad habits from before. Hopefully, I a can get back down to my lowest which was a 1 handicap. This should help a lot =)
Hi mark I'm a huge fan, and I'd just like to thank you for the "throwing the ball" analogy it's helped drop my wrists and rotation of the club face, keep up the great work #armyforever
I'm a lefty-righty. I saw a video of Pete Cowen talking about Stenson, who too is left handed but swings right-handed, saying it he gains an advantage from it..couldn't find the video but it is an interesting thing to explore.
Cricket player who bats right handed. Bowls left handed. Plays golf right handed. Writes left handed. Struggles with shots off to the right. Tried to quick fix it by splitting my hands to make clubhead "whip" through to straighten. Will send you a video if you fancy taking my swing to bits! Playing golf a year got down from 28 to 20 want to get further down by next summer. Thanks. Tom
Im left-handed and throw with my left, but play golf right-handed. I often get the early release because off it as I have issues with my right elbow getting to far behind me and not creating the famous "lag" Also as a Norwegian golfer our favourite destinations is often to warmer climates as I'm sure is the same in the UK. However favourite destinations for me personally is often related to tournaments I see on TV thinking, I wanna play on the same courses. Scotland is a favourite for me, as there are so many quality courses to choose from.
I play lefty but throw with my right. Definitely comes from my background in baseball. I've always struggled with club face control, mostly because my baseball swing instinct takes over when I play golf...could definitely use some pointers!!!
on the longer irons thing I play a 27deg titleist 910 hyberd plus a 27 deg mizuno mp 53 5i I found the gap between the 4h and the 5i was massive and the 5h filled the gap well an option considering the extra length of the shatf in the hybred you'd naturally get more club head speed plus I find I can work the Hyberd naturally high on stock shots but great for a low punch shot too
It feels a bit, Mark, like you didn't take seriously the response that many of us left yesterday about wanting to get better at reading greens. Yes, you are right that strike, direction, and pace are the primary reasons many of us (and by that I mean me) miss putts. But it's also true that I sometimes miss, especially on long attempts, because I just didn't read the slope(s) of the green correctly. It's obvious, after the fact, that I just didn't know what to aim for. Tom Watson famously said that all amateurs under-read the breaks in greens. That resonates with my experience, but I don't know how or what to practice to gain that skill. I'd love to have you dedicate a video to that topic. Cheers.
Club face awareness is a big weakness for me especially with drivers or anything with a big club head. I’ve recently purchased a Ping G Crossover 3i which has been the best club I’ve hit. Im using it off the tee and with a full swing consistently able to square this club face to path and strike a ball 240-250 fairly straight. Kind of in line with this video but encouraging the players that hit their long irons well, try the Ping G Crossovers.
florida at celebration golf club best course ive ever played well worth a visit. i would want to fix my driver, when its good its a slight fade with a 250 carry and when it bad it massively right !
A simple test regarding whether it is green reading or stroke: Read a putt, then roll a ball underhanded down your line toward the hole while facing down the line (not perpendicular to it). Most people can control line and speed pretty well while rolling a ball with their hand, especially if they are facing where they are rolling the ball. If you're consistently rolling them close with your hand, you are probably reading the green just fine.
Paul Leary And Lahinch, Dooks, Killarney Fish and Golf Club. I’m with you, one of my favorites, along with St Andrews, Sand Belt of Australia, and Northern California (Olympic Club, San Francisco GC, Cypress Point, Pebble Beach...)
Portugal got me playing golf again 10 years ago, although I’ve only played one course there. Only played in England and Portugal (one course) so not much to go off.
Hi Mark, I throw and write right handed and play golf and bat at cricket, baseball left handed. One of the guys I play golf with and also my dad are the same. I have a feeling Phil Mickelson is the same. Keep up the great videos, Scott
Yup, I'm a lefty that swings righty... no one i knew had left handed clubs when I started playing 25+ yrs ago, so I played with what was around. The local sports store definitely didn't have any (unlike today where most models come in lefty versions). I figured left handed clubs were like the Yeti...such a rare sighting
Only played in the US, but there are two courses here in California that just tick all the boxes for me. Lake Shastina near famous Mount Shasta. And Bailey Creek near Lake Almanor in the Northern Sierra mountains.
I'm the same (right hand throw, left handed golfer). I also feel that it is my right hand that is in control. I'm never really aware what my left hand is doing throughout the swing.
I am also left handed in daily life, but play golf right handed. My Dad and his brother were both right handed in daily life but played golf left handed. Yes.......we’re a weird bunch down here in Oz.
Im right handed at everything except two handed batting or golf so cricket, baseball, golf i do lefthanded but right handed at everything else. Also New Zealand has amazing courses
Write left handed, play all racket sports left handed, played football left footed, throw everything left handed, but.....play golf right handed!!!! First experience of golf was due to my old man passing down his right handed clubs, so thought why not .... felt bloody awful at first, but due to expense of not being able to buy any, I stuck with them. Two years later still play golf right handed and a couple of times I’ve used a left club down the range out of curiosity, but it’s defi a no go!! My left hand/arm is so dominant I worry it takes over the whole swing from start to finish. Battled away with it and it’s slowly getting there. If any interest MC I’ll post it on to see if a dominant left hander shows any common patterns of poor practice playing right handed. Enjoy Vegas!!
I’m left handed (throw left handed) and play right handed and struggle with this, flat swing, rolling arms, face control - I’ve sent you vids before on this 😀
I understand the ball throwing drill and it works for me for face control, but I’ve never heard anybody say where the golf ball is supposed to be struck in that motion. Is it at the release of the throwing motion or slightly before?
I'm right handed but took up the game as a left hander (common for Canadians it seems) so it's been challenging. Face control is definitely lacking even though everything else has improved. Any tips shor that wouldn't require changing side this late in the game would be appreciated.
Hawaii hands down bruh…B E A Utiful courses and scenery. You can play every day all year round no worries.. Even when it's raining its warm. In the winter its warm, and in the summer, its almost never too hot. Winds on the course are always about the same as well. As close to perfection as you can get for golf.
I'm totally left-handed but play golf right-handed. Would appreciate any tips regarding this especially with regards to chipping to increase the feel for distance control.
I struggle with club face control...but I lose awareness through the hitting zone. I can do the drill with turning the club face 20 degrees in and not hit it left like 3 out of 5 Times, even getting a push right sometimes. The two I miss only draw a little bit left. But like that and most of these drills, I’m not sure how to apply those feelings and thoughts to a “regular” shot. I know the answer is “get a lesson” ultimately, I just have to drive 2 hours to find a place that will use quality measuring equipment. And the best place to play golf is the good ole USA. You can find any type of course and any type of climate, just might have to drive a little bit.
What up bruh! I am left handed and golf right. Real reason is because I was given old clubs from a family friend who was right handed. That all I had to use so that what I learned to play with. Quick question if you find time. What is the difference is flipping your wrists vs rolling and such? I get confused. Throwing a ball and swinging a bat is flipping for me and I’m told to roll in golf. Safe travels!
I am your left throwing (and writing, and eating) but RIGHT swinging conundrum Bruh... and I DO suffer from face control... and trying to power with the left arm/side more...ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
Best place to play golf? Currently in Arizona, so it’s fantastic, always sunny, always dry, huge variety of courses, reasonable prices. However, I used to play at Gog Magog, in Cambridge, UK, in medals in rain, cold, wind, and the friendship of the clubhouse, camaraderie of regular playing companions, the beer after the game, that’s what made it truly great, so in the end it aint the place, it’s the people.
Hi Mark , I'm a lefty that plays right handed , it doesn't feel like my weakest arm puts much power into the swing more of a pull with my left arm, would a right handed player feel that they are use their strongest arm more ? Cheers brah
I throw left handed but play golf right handed. But I also play tennis right handed. I was a switch hitter in baseball for awhile before settling on just hitting right handed.
Right handed golfer who throws left handed from North Augusta. Love your videos Mark! Thanks for all you do.
I'm left handed, but I am a right handed player, so yeah. Please do that video Mark!
Scotland no question... love the courses, culture, and the golfing attitudes of the locals there...always look forward to visits there!
First visit to Scotland this year, I was overwhelmed with how much I loved the golf there.
My favourite place to visit and play golf is British Columbia, Canada. The Okanagan, and Columbia Valleys in particular.
This was exactly the wrist angles I was trying to put into my back swing on the range today!
Thanks for putting it in terms of throwing the ball. That's says it with a much easier feel.
Here at home. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Cabot Cliffs, Cabot Links and Highland Links. Love what you do Mark :)
Florida, October to March. Had an Invite to play Nona 3 years ago, loved it, different world. Normally play North Shore and Celebration.
Great video mate. And so ridiculous that no other youtube coach is even close to give such comprehensible explanations about what skills you need (wrist use wise this time but could apply to everything) and most importantly, why you need them. Awesome job.
I'm a left handed, right handed player, loving your daily blogs, one for me and the other freaks please :)
Australia....Long Reef Golf Club. Like everything in Australia, it was very laid back and somewhat haphazard...tricky to even follow the holes! Along with a 20 mph wind, it was very fun and challenging and I hIghly recommend it!

Defo Scotland, home of golf, diverse courses and true links action with usually challenging weather conditions brah!!
great vlog, love the way you give a different perspective on the golf swing, its help me better understand what I'm doing and what I think I'm doing in me swing. Australia lots of golfing glory.
Hi Bruh,

Bali, the people were lovely and friendly and the courses excellent. My favourite course over there was the Bukit Pandawa course absolutely stunning.
South Africa for me. Some lovely courses and a very relaxed social vibe.
Mountain golf in Vail Colorado was the most memorable trip I’ve ever done.
Mauritius was the best country. People were amazing; courses were spectacular - naturally stunning with great elevation changes. Weather was fabulous too. It was a one-off but I’d go back in a heartbeat
I throw left handed and 'attempt' to play right handed, your ideas sometimes help, love the vids bruh!!
I travelled to St Thomas years ago and played Mahogany Run, amazing course. Gotta mention Predator Ridge thats about a six hour drive from Vancouver in BC too.
Murcia - love playing there October / November - so many courses to play and had some fun tours
Just got back from Vegas. Only got to play the Boulders but the weather was great and the course was in good shape.
I didn't even think about turning the hands during middle of the golf swing. I just thought about the setup position. Just returned from not playing for 10 years and I picked up same bad habits from before. Hopefully, I a can get back down to my lowest which was a 1 handicap. This should help a lot =)
We have an annual trip to Malaga area of Spain , love playing La Cala course and Anoreta.
Hi mark I'm a huge fan, and I'd just like to thank you for the "throwing the ball" analogy it's helped drop my wrists and rotation of the club face, keep up the great work #armyforever
Played golf in Kerry Ireland...South Carolina...Algarve...and Marbella....all amazing for different reasons...but would go back to Ireland tomorrow.

Australia. Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Maroochy river GC a links style course just brilliant.
Phuket and Vietnam, great courses, weather and cold beer!
