    My first 3 1/2 Sport back in the eighties had the standard drop bars and no vibration felt through the grips. I changed the top yoke and fitted Strada bars, the same as the ones you have on this bike, and vibration was felt straight away. It's just the length of your bars accentuating the inherent imbalance of a 60 degree (?) twin configuration. Input on foam grips which helped. Watching this in Sep 2024, sending best wishes in your health battle.

    she just needs a little attention. like a good wife. spend some time together taking her out and enjoy the patina.

      I often have the "paint or patina" struggle but for sure this is going to be left at least till after summer.

    glad you got that sorted. surprising how many bikes will run with carbs out of sink, different ignition timing. wrong plug etc.

      Your not wrong, a lot of bikes hide their problems well. It is also surprising that when sorted you think wow this is better.

    Shame its not on its two pipes because once tank off and access to the carb mouths get the tickover perfect so each pot is firing the same pulse wise then straighten two paper clips place in the carbs so when you move the throttles off tick over the wires move and get the two wires to move at the same time by adjusting the cables on each carb top....job done....I run a 1974 Sport 3n1/2 double drum.....great bikes.....Ah yea once you set the carbs and the bike still vibrates it will be the two into one pipe mechanically bolted direct to the frame, V twins are smoother with separate pipes.

      It's where I got to with the pipes, though I do have to say it sounds very unique with the two into one. When I was a younger man I would have loved it. The carbs and timing are now correct but due to dreadful weather and other commitments I have yet to try it.

    Get yourself a pair of vacuum gauges and set the carb balanced up accuately! You'll not believe the difference it makes and how easy it is to do....

      I have a set somewhere and I used them but I found I could balance them quicker old style and when I checked with the vac gauge they were right, so I stopped using them.

    Will start with a fine flat battery. Does the wiper motor style starter work?

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  2 года назад

      Wiper motor- best description ever. Yes but the bike doesn't fire up, I was guessing the battery wasn't delivering enough power for both the starter and the ignition. I have checked the battery and it is way past its best.

      @@oldguyinshed1703 The electronic ignition runs off its own coil in the alternator and is independent from the rest of the electrics (provides AC current for the transducers) Turning off the ignition earths the system. The wiper motors can be rebuilt, often the oil in its gearbox leaks out over time. Plus also advisable to put something like a PC680 AGM battery on as they take quite a bit of juice to turn over.

      @@p.istaker8862 Thank you I will look into the PC680 AGM battery and I will check if the starter circuit is not earthing the ignition which would result in it not starting whilst the button is depressed
