How many people have listen to this? Me I'm up to 18 don't sleep well so getting stories bit at a time. Don't know why more people haven't listen to this. Outstanding well told it's 3am try go back to sleep see how long I last...haha
Recouping from an accident and a bit bedridden. I listen to these all day, makes me so happy, I hate tv, don't own one, therefore this is my main entertainment. Thanks again.
You really should try watching the Jeremy Brett episodes, on a computer or iPad. They really are quite wonderful (I love these audiobooks as well!) I'll often watch one, and/or simply listen to it as well. They are truly tremendous!!
Well I think that's a shame to avoid all TV. Yes maybe the people you know watch stress inducing rubbish like Love Island, silly quiz games or Eastenders, Coronation Street and other socially unpleasant soaps. But there is a whole lot of beautiful stuff, nature programmes, beautiful programmes on places on the planet and other things worth searching for. Shame to miss that learning about the world when this is your only time on the planet
I gave a slight weary groan as I heard the words "This is a Libra-Vox recording..." However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is read very well with good character voices and smooth flowing, well pronounced speaking. Well above the Libra-Vox standard.
Having been a huge Sherlock Holmes fan for many years and an audio listener of anything Sherlock I now find myself in the difficult position of not being able to tolerate any reading other that of David Clarke. Absolutely brilliant reading in every respect! Bravo!!!
I did a search, found out the Narrator, David Clarke is living in Texas, can anyone convince him to narrate more books? also narrates Count of Monte Cristo

Excellent readings, but brougham (the four-wheeled horse-drawn carriage) is pronounced like "broom", with a slight "h" sound, not "bruffam" as heard here.
You need to be careful when correcting an Englishman regarding an English term. For instance, in America, the word car...when spoken by a Bostonian, is pronounced "cah." In Georgia it is pronounced "core." In Texas it is pronounced "horse." Uh, that is a joke...not sure how Texans pronounce it. Anyway, I have heard that the bromgham is pronounced "broam..." rhyming with foam. So, tomato or tomahto, tomater...who cares?
It's the time for ghost stories and fantasy! Perhaps two radio play ghost stories I’ve produced AND a brand new mystery listed on my channel “Claude Chabot Presents” right here on YT AND a radio fantasy comedy, “A Trip to the Moon” starring Joyce Randolph of The Honeymooners, which features Larry Robinson, who, as a child actor, actually worked with Orson Welles. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/Hex2ltykNTM/видео.html--Claud. If you don’t want to click the link just search “Claude Chabot presents” on RUclips

I am a Yank, and just wondering about Englishmen and their propensity for fainting, or swooning, as they self describe it. A dog barks at them...out they go, maybe followed by "brain fever" for nine weeks. Maybe that is what happened at the charge of the Light Brigade...they all fainted and fell from their horses. Their child comes home with a failing grade on his report card..."Oh Mater, Pater has swooned again. What shall we do, Mater?" "That's okay, Fitzhugh, he will come back to us in a week or two." "But Mater, why do we English men faint and swoon so much?" "Never you mind, Fauntleroy, just finish your homework, dear. You will also swoon when you grow up!" And what is this "brain fever," anyway? I know the aristocrats can catch it and be down for weeks. But can a poor Welsh miner fall out with it and take off a few weeks? Ehh, probably not. Well, I think I am going to fall back in my recliner here and swoon for while. You can wake me at tea time, and dinner, and when Lady Elspeth requires my presence in her drawing room for, uhhh, some reason or another, what?"
Why do you watch then if you find it so amusing ? English historical dramas and period films are renown the world over and unbelievably popular, no one else can produce them with the same expertise, you don't have to watch. Dont get me started on totally 'unfunny' American comedy programmes, someone only has to walk into a room and the audience are falling about laughing ! and you think superior British drama is something to be made fun of ??
@@jeanniemullinder9038 You misread me totally. I watch nothing American anymore...there is just no comparison. I am now a fan of the Brits. But, my comment is just that, just a COMMENT. Lighten up, Jeannie...I am entitled to print my impressions...I am not trying to convert anybody or unvert anybody..."devert?" "exvert?" Anyway, I am a fan, so stand aside, I am about to swoon!

Have now developed an addiction to these novels, physically cannot fall asleep without listening to them ☺️
I find comfort listening to these tales of Holmes and Watsons adventures as I drift into slumber each night.
I do, too. Relaxing and soothing.
Brilliantly narrated,, I enjoyed listening so very much.

Excellent narration. I never tire of Holmes.
This narrator is amazing! I could listen to this guy all day.
Recouping from an accident and a bit bedridden. I listen to these all day, makes me so happy, I hate tv, don't own one, therefore this is my main entertainment. Thanks again.
I'm disabled and haven't owed a TV for 10yrs. This is definitely a treat
And I have never owned a TV either. This series is so great to listen to with headphones while doing chores. Also great for falling asleep.
You really should try watching the Jeremy Brett episodes, on a computer or iPad. They really are quite wonderful (I love these audiobooks as well!) I'll often watch one, and/or simply listen to it as well. They are truly tremendous!!
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I have the same reaction to Libra-Vox recordings If only they would select the best from all the rest. Quality counts, or use to
David Clarke is the narrator. He has also recorded all of the rest of the Sherlock Holmes stories.

I thought it was meant to sound more like "brawm" (similar to "drawn"). 🤔
