Fun fact: If you hook up a GBA with the GBA to Gamecube cable when playing Dakar 2 you can play a couple of tracks from the cancelled GBA Port of Dakar 2.
Notes about Donkey Konga: there’s a 3rd game from Japan and both 1 and 2 have completely different track lists across North America, Europe, and Japan. In the modern era it’s dirt easy to “find” all 7 different games if you’re a big fan of the series. It’s beyond the scope of these videos but I thought it worth mentioning.
Love the Game Cube library series. You are the only RUclipsr to attempt such a monumental task. Many years from now our great grandchildren will look back on THESE videos you have made for reference, I do not doubt your videos will last the test of time and eventually become a valuable part of GameCube lore. Really hope you can finish them in the future, no other RUclipsr is up the the challenge that you have put yourself through.
I'm bummed that you are not continuing this series, but I think I understand. I've seen a few RUclipsrs over the years try to cover all titles for the Gamecube, and they all eventually stop. It must be a pain. I've loved the series, though!
Before I say anything about the video, I want to say I'm really sorry this series didn't work out the way you had hoped. It's a bummer this didn't perform too well, I greatly enjoyed it myself and I love watching obscure games get the time of day. It deserved to do a lot better than it did, and if you feel it's for the best not to continue it, then I think that's a good idea. You may want to add a disclaimer in the description of all three that the series was cancelled so you don't get too many more questions about it. As far as games I have comments on... I was interested in the Defender reboot because I love arcade reboots, but after watching this I'm not so sure, haha. I played Magical Mirror all the way through, and I liked it okay but felt it was a little unsure on what it wanted to be. I think the undecided rank was probably the best to give it, really only a "yes" if you're a fan of point and clicks. Tarzan Untamed is one of the absolute most mediocre games I've ever played, I'd easily put it in the "no" territory. I mean when the 5th gen tie-in game outdoes it on every angle, you know you're in trouble. It's not necessarily anything offensive, it's just so...nothing. I really enjoyed this series overall! Again, shame it had to end up the way it did, but you had at least one person who got a lot of enjoyment from it so I hope that's at least a little encouraging for you.
I can say I enjoy these games. These brief overviews are informative and I have added a few games to my Wanted games list, such as Disney Extreme Skate Adventure (was a big fan of THPS4, and seeing Toys for Bob developed was interesting). That being said, if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it. Maybe narrow your focus to subsets of games that do interest you? All the Disney GC Sports games sounds like an interesting premise. Or maybe all the GC Star Wars games? Find a definable subset you enjoy and cover that. Personally, the "Continue" sound clip of the first video keeps me from going back to that one. See you in the next video.
I actually did a bit of thinking and I might return to this library in a different style. For example, I thought of doing a video where I bring this approach to "every GameCube platformer" or something along those lines. The consistent variation of genres and gameplay styles is a strange thing to get used to. Nonetheless, what I'm suggesting would mean I'm still no longer tackling the entire console library.
@@FrameRater Personally, I don't care about the entire library thing. I like the way you look at these games with broad strokes like this. Besides, if you do enough of these by genre style videos, you could do a "every remaining GC game", then maybe re-edit them into an alphabetical series. The important things are you enjoying making them and people enjoying watching them.
@@FrameRater This idea sounds really good. I'm always looking for new platformers to check out. Maybe you could do like a best of list in your favorite genres. Or instead of focusing on one system or one genre, you could do a "games to remember" series where u just talk about random good games. I'm down for whatever dude, you have good taste, love your videos!
This is a very good idea and I agree. I’m a fan of Frame’s Continue review system. It’s a great way to have brief info showcased. The entire console library of Gamecube is monumental and understandable to not continue it. A more unified approach to a certain group of games would do much better.
I personally would love to see you compete all the game’s. There’s so many games out there that people do not know about. Your personality and your style of giving everything a chance is something no other person would do. You are introducing me to a lot of GameCube games I’ve never even heard of
Fun Fact: ‘Dinotopia’ is (or rather *was*, since its last major media release was back in 2007) actually a fully-fledged franchise that started off as a book series in 1992, with the likes of children’s novels, two TV shows, an animated film, three more video-games and a whole slew of miscellaneous merchandise following after.
Wow sad to see it might be over. I discovered the series by getting this part in recommendations two days ago. Now I have already seen all 3 of the videos twice. I hope it gets more views and you consider continuing it. I think changing the titles to something like "Playing ALL GameCube Games Ever" might help the algorithm.
I genuinely would love for you to finish these. Informative, short for each, and entertaining make these a blast to watch. I've been getting back into NGC gaming lately, so seeing these help alot.
I'm sorry the GameCube library vids haven't been doing well. I can say, at the very least I've been enjoying them a whole lot, and it's even opened my eyes to some games I never heard of or have never seen any gameplay of. If you decide to call it here, I totally understand, though. I've still enjoyed the heck out of the ones ya did produce :D
rip I just found these and I love them so much. longform videos just talking about games make me happy. especially when it basically helps me learn what the gamecube's library was other than smash bros, mario sunshine, starfox assault, windwaker etc etc.
Honesty I hope you continue. This is the first one I've seen (I just found this channel recently) but it was really cool to see them laid out in quick but insightful reviews. I walked away with a few games I want for myself and some things to keep an eye out for my 4 year old to play. This has probably been the most helpful youtube video (related to games) I've seen in a while. Thanks!
Sad to hear you are not continuing these, I was eagerly waiting for the next one, but I totally get your point. It was fun to spot new interesting titles which I have never even heard of from my favorite console.
I really hope you continue this series, I absolutely love hearing your views on these games. Honestly though, I just enjoy all the console library review videos you put out
Damn dude sorry these aren't working out. Ironically these are some of my favorites of yours, but if it's not panning out...well what can you do. Hopefully maybe one day you'll feel inspired to tackle the subject again.
Yeah he should but he gives up on a lot of series that he makes cause he doesn't make them cause he wants to he makes them to think they will make him money. Which is why he complains about them not doing well.. If he liked making the videos he wouldn't care how they do... Great example of that type of attitude is Game Sack.. Joe makes continues to make videos no matter how bad they do cause he makes them cause he likes to make them...
Love these gamecube videos, I find them incredibly addictive and seen them all multiple times, even if that makes me sound like a maniac lol. Even if you take your time and make one every 6 months, I'll be here for it. Can't speak for the rest of the subscribers though. If you don't have the push to make anymore, I'll be more than happy to stick around for the rest of your content.
Im one of those people who since you started this has been waiting for the next one to release. I really love the GameCube and thought this would be a good way to make decisions when trying to fill put.my.gamecube collection. Like I definitely get the feeling burnt out right now on it. Just was a fun ride while we had it.
Genuinely surprised to hear this series hasn't been a success - I found the #-A video so entertaining and the idea of doing the whole library so interesting that it's what made me subscribe when it showed up on my feed! It does absolutely make sense to give it a break given what you said, though. I second what some other comments have said where it might be cool to look at specific developers or genres from the GameCube if doing every game ever is too much. If you end up changing your mind though, I for one would be very excited to get the E video!
I don't want you to stop making these, because I really don't feel like anything comparable on RUclips gives as much useful information to people who want to get the most out of the full library of Gamecube games. If it isn't worth it to you to continue then fair enough, but I liked and subscribed in favor of continuing fwiw.
I was already subscribed, but this was the first video in the series that I watched. I don't have a GameCube, probably won't ever be able to afford one with a games library (I live in Brazil, it's an expensive hobby over here). *I loved every second of this video.* Will definitely watch the others and any new ones that may come, whenever and however they do.
I understand wanting to take a break or doing these over the course of several months but these are great videos and I love seeing some (slightly) more modern stuff covered. Don't feel pressured to continue but I love the series and I know others do too even if they don't preform as well as other videos
Yeah a majority of them were done by Konami (Disney Sports), Hudson Soft (Disney Party) and Capcom ( Hide and Sneak, Magical Mirror). The Ubisoft ones turned out the best
I commented on a previous video about how I felt that this series would probably not be very good considering that you can’t realistically give the same amount of attention to every game in one video, but this has been a very entertaining watch, and I definitely can’t wait for the next one! Awesome job
My favourite videos of yours. I’m buying platformers based on these (albeit the PS2 versions). Thanks for the effort and it’ll be a shame for it to stop.
Nice video! I hope that these videos will get some popularity soon. I really like them! (Maybe it also has to do with that the bigger games are a lot further in the list).
Understandable, I can understand the effort involved and I watch all the console library videos along with whatever else you have on the channel I haven't come across yet as a new Subscriber. I get excited when I see these console library videos (and not considering re-watching for increasing views for you though I could XD, but just out of curiosity to re-watch) them as they are interesting as a collector and newcomer to the Gamecube (having never owned one but having a Wii that can play them has me excited to pick Gamecube games up). I don't even own Atari, Pocket Color and other consoles or otherwise but they are just interesting when looking at the different games, differences between hardware and quality back then that I appreciate besides mostly only being familiar with PS2+ eras. I enjoy looking at different systems and their titles.
Damn I really love these vids and would hate to see them go... I've been a gamer since the Atari and C64, but I largely fell out of consoles after the Dreamcast. There's SO much I missed on PS2 and Gamecube while I pissed around with a modded OG Xbox, and these vids are exactly what people like me need to quickly and informatively scour through a huge library. It's such a huge favor to us all, the kind of content that may not do "well" but it will cement your hardcore fanbase and eventually lead to a beautiful 8-hour long compilation video that half of us are probably going to fall asleep to every night, lol!
Just wanted to say I really liked this series. I learned about quite a few Gamecube titles that seem worth picking up once the pandemic blows over, and that wouldn't of been the case if it weren't for these videos. Still, I don't really blame you if you don't want to continue it. It is quite a hefty task. Regardless, whether this gets another installment or not, I'll still be watching your stuff! :)
Honestly I am very saddened you chose to finish this series because I just discovered your channel because of your Gamecube videos. This is the Gamecube's 20th birthday and I thought what you did was a perfect way to celebrate it. In fact, I thought of doing something similar myself but after seeing what you did I was kind of in aw in how much effort and creativity you poured into this idea. I do hope that you go back on the decision but I understand this is quite an undertaking. Take the break if you need it.
Sorry to hear that these videos underperform for your channel, Frame. Even though I would love to see the rest of the series,I don't think any sensible person would blame you for nor making more. Especially considering the time and effort that clearly go into your videos. Il continue to watch anything you put out! Thank you!!
The utility of these videos has been wonderful for making a wanted list of gamecube games. But it's all you my dude. Make what you feel passionate about, I'd still love to see what games you like on the gamecube!
wow when I saw those cutscenes for Donald Duck Going Quackers I figured it would just be a port of the PC version but, all of those levels are completely new to me? they don't even have similar assets it's all completely new stuff. why does this game have so many ports that are all completely removed from each other?
@@Supersayainpikmin man this game was on my hitlist for Rose-Tinted anyways but now I just wanna do a deep dive and do all the ports/versions. there's also a GBC version thats drastically different
At the end of the day, you do what you got to do. I've been catching up on a lot of things I've missed these past few months (took 17 credits...never again)
16:57 King of Swing: Use the shoulder buttons to grab and swing from peg-infested areas and there's also a Banana power system ala the late Super Mario Bros. 35 Jungle Beat: Uses the bongos for everything, stages are mostly linear start-to-end romps (with some races sprinkled in), bananas _are_ DK's health, and the levels themselves aren't split between multiple sections (and by that I mean the two levels that traditionally proceed a kingdom's boss, not the kingdom itself).
I understand if you don't continue! I'll make sure to like and comment to at least add a little more engagement to the video. I can only hope you get more exposure on this one!
I honestly love this series, it's probably my favourite thing you've made. Obviously, don't FORCE yourself to make them, that'll cause burnout. But these comprehensive "first look" videos are absolutely essential for preservation and keeping interest going. My recommendation is to make this a side-gig instead of a revenue generator. Whenever you feel up to it, pop in a game or two, do a short write-up, save them in a document. If that means you do a video a year, or do sporadic releases, I'd be cool with that. YEAH FRAMERATER. I think more than anything, these videos get murdered by the algorithm. Cuz if you look at something like Chrontendo or Generation-16, those videos have low views too. And it's not like they're hurting for interest, importance or quality. But one day, all these videos are gonna be THE de facto source for chronicling video game library history in a digestible format. So I think it becomes a question of, "Am I willing to sacrifice my time and energy for a museum of sorts?" And there's no wrong answer to that.
In Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers the evil magician is Merlock who was the main antagonist in the 1990's "DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp".
I like to imagine that the lead programmer on all those Disney sports games began to have a mental breakdown 3 games in and all his co-workers began to look like Disney Characters. "Hey Rick! Gu-huh! Gosh! You look awful~ Ready for lunch? Goyle!" **Sweats and shakes as he tries to open his medication** "M-Make them go away... P-Please... I-I can't take it anymore..."
The "library reviews" are the reason I subscribed to the channel. I really don't care which console it is, as they are among the most enjoyable videos I watch. I'd suggest that, for larger consoles, don't commit to the entire library; but rather just a letter on such a console, then move on to other videos. Later, if you feel like it, do another video for the series. Heck, I wouldn't even commit to doing the letters in order if you want to rush to "H Games on Game Boy Color", do it. The most important thing is you make videos you enjoy doing. If this channel becomes a chore, it'll show.
mickey's magical mirror is absolutely a creepypasta jesus christ- also i think i remember seeing someone play it back when i was like, 3 and i went over to someone's house. bizarre memory to dig up but i'm not complaining
I've actually been using this series to try and find a couple of new games to try out. i do hope you find the motivation to continue this quest. I quite enjoy it, although i understand it is a daunting task... Either way do what you love, because if you force yourself to make what you dont want it wont be a labor of love anymore.
Something worth noting is that the Xbox version of Dead To Rights is notably different than the PS2/Gamecube versions. The most obvious thing is that Chapter 3 (the prison) was significantly shortened and the melee combos were changed. Also several minigames, bomb disarming ones in particular, were completely cut.
One thing you have to understand - if Disney Duck Comic stans recieve a product that is in any way *not* perfect (which also means getting all the lore right) then they fucking riot. They are some of the biggest sticklers for perfection (and, again, "perfection" here also means "accuracy" and "fanservice") I've seen in the Disney fandom. I would argue even moreso than a lot of superhero comic fans.
15:14 Wait, so Donald's Superhero Persona is NOT called "Phantomias" everywhere? That's definitely a surprise, even more so as I wouldn't expect to learn something like this in such a video.
PK is a way to say Paperinik that in Italian is literally Duck Avenger which is his official USA name, its also known as Ciber Pato in Latin America but somehow the logo still has the "PK" even if its called Ciber Pato.
I love Digimon Rumble Arena 2, I played it even before Smash, but I very much agree with your opinion. Still, I think it's charming and plays well enough to be considered a decent game, especially for Digimon fans.
I'd love to see you finish this series out. Even if you have to take breaks in between videos.
Agreed

These are great, and I love this series entirely, regardless the breaks between.
Keep doing these. You can take long long breaks and just come back to it but I'ld love to see it :)
Nooooo I only just found your channel and this series 😔
Just wanted to say I really liked this series. I learned about quite a few Gamecube titles that seem worth picking up once the pandemic blows over, and that wouldn't of been the case if it weren't for these videos. Still, I don't really blame you if you don't want to continue it. It is quite a hefty task. Regardless, whether this gets another installment or not, I'll still be watching your stuff! :)
Frame Rater is basically doing Sufjan Stevens’ states project with playing GameCube games
Keep it up! Don't stop the NGC library videos :-)
This is the most underrated channel I've ever stumbled upon
Thank you!!
I love watching these!!
←its a mystery→
Turns out the Nintendo 64, PC, and Dreamcast versions are the "original" versions, while the PS1, PS2 and GameCube games are the "enhanced" versions.
Jungle Beat: Uses the bongos for everything, stages are mostly linear start-to-end romps (with some races sprinkled in), bananas _are_ DK's health, and the levels themselves aren't split between multiple sections (and by that I mean the two levels that traditionally proceed a kingdom's boss, not the kingdom itself).
Please continue this series! 😩
I didn’t even know you did any other videos like this 😩
I like to imagine that the lead programmer on all those Disney sports games began to have a mental breakdown 3 games in and all his co-workers began to look like Disney Characters.
"Hey Rick! Gu-huh! Gosh! You look awful~ Ready for lunch? Goyle!"
**Sweats and shakes as he tries to open his medication**
"M-Make them go away... P-Please... I-I can't take it anymore..."
If nothing else, you could always make continuing it a Patreon or Subscribers stretch goal.
just saw these videos. please keep going.
I understand if you'd want to stop this series but I'm really enjoying it!
mickey's magical mirror is absolutely a creepypasta jesus christ-
also i think i remember seeing someone play it back when i was like, 3 and i went over to someone's house. bizarre memory to dig up but i'm not complaining
These videos haven't been coming up in my subscriptions. I'm sorry for not watching, I'm going back to watch the rest of the series.
28:32 PL or Paperinik, was Donald's alter ego in italian comics and later was exported to the usa as well
What an incredible way to do a vid.
Doshin the Giant is seriously underrated, what a fun time
I miss this series. ❤😢
I love these videos it’s a shame to see them go :(
This series seems to be doing as well as all your other videos.
Too bad these were not more popular videos. They're done very well and I would vote to continue them if you can keep sane while doing them
I've actually been using this series to try and find a couple of new games to try out. i do hope you find the motivation to continue this quest.
Lets vote for this man to do a DDR Mario Mix full playthrough
One thing you have to understand - if Disney Duck Comic stans recieve a product that is in any way *not* perfect (which also means getting all the lore right) then they fucking riot. They are some of the biggest sticklers for perfection (and, again, "perfection" here also means "accuracy" and "fanservice") I've seen in the Disney fandom. I would argue even moreso than a lot of superhero comic fans.
Hey FR, can you make another video on the strange games that you own? The last one was pretty entertaining
disney extreme skate adventure is one of my favorite games ever :)
It’s back!
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 was a launch title for the Gamecube.
love this vid
I'd love to see you finish this series, but I do completely understand why you've put it on hiatus.
Dave Mirra bmx was incredible.
"Darkened Skye" is definitely the prequel to "Horizon Zero Dawn"
Nice to see some Disney's Magical Mirror represented here, I speedrun the game
I love Digimon Rumble Arena 2, I played it even before Smash, but I very much agree with your opinion.
Still, I think it's charming and plays well enough to be considered a decent game, especially for Digimon fans.
I appreciate the Game Cube content but completely understand if they dont work out financially.
