Ive got my gastric bypass surgery coming up in a week, and I’m super happy to have found the videos of your journey. They’re helping me get in the right head space for the surgery and helping me concentrate on the positive of what’s to come. Thanks so much
I am so happy I found you. I had my first visit yesterday to start my journey. You inspire me to keep going to the surgery date and you will be my go to video after I have surgery. I love you so much
I'm 5 minutes into this video and I decided to pause and say thank you. I first stumbled upon your channel when you were giving the real talk about opti. I clung to your advice as I choked down those shakes and parented my fantastically wonderful one year old. March 2nd was my surgery date. And two weeks later as I had been released into the world of purees, the world as we knew it ended, I remember sitting in my partners car crying as he tried to find toilet paper, because all I wanted was a big mac and fries. I knew the reality of surgery and that this wasnt going to fix my brain, my most trusted friend and coping mechanism was gone. And I could hear you in the rolodex of advice given that I actually liked. "This sucksssss but is going to be so worth it. May 2nd was my 2 month surgiversary. I am down 36ish pounds so far, you gave me hope during those hellish optifast days, you reminded me that there was a better life on the horizon. And you gave me a bomb ass protein ball recipe! Thank you, thank you
Lindsey, your comment made me cry! I'm so happy for you for your loss so far (and that you've escaped OptiHell). My fave pureed meal was ricotta bake; just search for it on RUclips. It's super easy and incredibly yummy; it's basically lasagna without the meat or pasta). I feel you so hard on turning to food to cope. I'm so grateful that I didn't have to self-isolate at the height of my food addiction; I would have been so miserable and desperate for junk. Hang in there; you've got this! Hugs and love!
Thanks for being so candid Kara. You speak so well. I've just had my surgery (in Perth, Western Australia). Your videos are really informative, thank you 🤗💕
I'm so thankful for you sharing your experiences. I just had a Gastric Bypass in July and I have such a hard time. Listening to your videos have inspired me to keep going.
My husband recently had his gastric bypass. It’s been 2 weeks and your RUclips channel has been such an encouragement to him. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We follow you on your bypass recovery journey which gives us an idea as to what to expect. I prep his meals so that gives me a better understanding as to what he can and should eat.
Im so so happy you reached one of your goals!! 100 lbs is a big feat to conquer for sure. I don't think there's a way to properly express the feeling behind being able to just go buy a bra. I spent a few years having to specially order mine through a corset company so when I was able to walk in to a Lane Bryant store it was beyond words!! I think the one thing people don't talk about is a lot of what you were saying about your attitude with food. Before there were things you wouldn't be caught dead with out, and now food doesn't control you. That sense of control over food is exhilarating! I've moments of slip ups but I'm able to identify it and get control so much faster. I'm so so happy that you're experiencing such a high of this beautiful life. So excited to see you and your son when the parks open back up!
It's so amazing to not only be able to buy a bra with ease, but to get one that isn't white, black, or beige. Why do bra companies seem to think that large chested women only deserve the most basic of designs?? I agree completely: not being ruled by food is incredible. I have slip ups too but I don't just give up and give in to it anymore. I am able to recognize it, forgive myself, and get back on track with relative ease. It's such a great feeling.
I love this video. I get my surgery date end of this month and I’m so exited. When you spoke about the waking up and deciding what food to binge...that’s so me. I can’t wait to work for it and have those feelings go away! 💞
@@SolsticeBeautyByJessica hi! I got my surgery 2/24 and I am officially down 111 pounds as of yesterday. My life has completely changed for the better!!! Best decision I have ever made!
Kara, thank you so much for sharing your story. I too am considering surgery for weight loss. Everything you are saying resonates with me. I’m so proud of you. Next I want to be proud of myself. Thank you for opening up weight loss possibilities for me! Love you sweet girl!
U look so beautiful, but u have always been very beautiful in my eyes♡ I'm so proud of u and I can't wait to see u slide down a slide with ur lil man♡ and I can't wait to see the rest of ur journey!
🎇🎆🎇🎆🎇 Kara.... First off, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 100 POUND WEIGHT LOSE! I went back & watched a past video of yours from a couple years ago and I must say You are pretty much unrecognizable now.... The difference is INCREDIBLE.... I am so Happy for you. You RADIATE joy now. It's Beautiful to watch... 🎆🎇🎆🎇🎆
Thank you so much Kat! I feel like I've added years to my life. I have more energy at almost 40 that I did at 30. I have so much more peace in my heart because I'm not constantly berating myself. Thank you for your support!
Hi, the most important difference I see is how different your face is looking (including the smile), good job for all the involvement that includes 👌👌keep on rocking girl
Georgiousnesss ❤❤ wow what an accomplishment, good for you. I'm excited for you, new life now your living not just existing. New SUBSCRIBER excited to follow u
I'm so happy for you, your joy and happiness is radiating from you. Your hair looks so good, I want to/don't want to dye my own hair, but am kind of nervous about it.
I was nervous doing my hair too. The bleached look did NOT work for me but I'm in love with the red. I very well may keep it this colour even after I return to work properly. For what it's worth, I say go for it! It's just hair and it can be dyed back if you hate it. :)
Congratulations 👑🥳👑 you look Beautiful. This is amazing because I just found your channel today starting my weight loss journey meeting with surgeon next week.
Thank you so much for posting your videos! I am pre-op and so nervous. About the surgery itself, but more of my mental state afterwards. Changing my relationship with food sounds scary because it is my coping mechanism. I wonder if I will have a transfer addiction, etc.... Your videos give me such hope that I will really love this process and not be afraid of it. Your true joy comes across in your videos and you can articulate the mental process that many other youtubers aren't as good at. I have a question for you though, if you could address in one of your videos and this is ... are you in therapy now or have been at any point for this surgery and its process? Again, thank you for your videos. I look forward to watching more!
Hi Susan. I completely understand your nervousness! I lived through that as well. Everyone's experience is different so I don't want to tell you that the surgery isn't that bad just because I didn't have a lot of pain but, for what it's worth, I hardly needed any pain medication afterwards. I was worried about a transfer addiction too but so far, so good (despite the fact that my weekly livestreams make me look like a functional alcoholic... lol). As for therapy: I haven't gone that route during this process. I doubt it would hurt and I have considered it, but I know from trying therapy in the past that it makes me intensely uncomfortable and I don't open up about the main issues as a result.
How amazing and you are looking beautiful as always..so happy for you. Fyi I love your hair color. I also have been wanting to make a video on my weight gain and what had caused it and how I'm now losing weight..but I feel that I'm not there yet to make a video on it. So , so proud of you 😊
Thanks Nicole! I'm getting more and more comfortable posting this kind of content but I always get a bit nervous. It makes me feel vulnerable. I'm so grateful for all of the wonderful support I've found here, though.
Congratulations on losing 100 lbs!! I really like this new hair color too. I look forward to seeing you slide down the slide with Bennett when you can. 💗 When you were talking about stuff you can't eat, it reminded me that I wanted to ask you something: have you seen the KimChi Chic Beauty Diamond Sharts? 😄
So many health benefits to the weight loss-- by not having sleep apnea you’re not excreting cortisol as you were before which is great, your liver will reverse from fatty liver, the decrease stress on your joints has lessened, I’m hoping for the same thing when I get my surgery. I’m also thinking of doing the running program after I lose weight and my back pain diminishes. I really enjoy your videos and candor.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I am 4 weeks post op from gastric bypass and still trying to figure out the whole new view on food. What helped you the most in changing the way you think of food?
Looking at surgery in the next 30-60 days and just found your videos. Now that you are several years out, how has your life changed permanently since? Any pre-surgery things stay the same or come back? I am a super planner so I am looking for ALL the information I can get my hands on.
Feel free to check out my other channel, Finding Health, as I have more videos on life after over there. I'm almost 5 years out, maintaining a 125lb loss, and just completed my first half marathon earlier this month. Life after weight loss is priceless.
I’m so happy for you!!!! I do have a question. I’m toying with the idea of having the procedure done. The thing is, I’m not really at the right bmi. It’s 34. Which is still considered obese. Which I don’t understand. I do have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I just wanted any advice you could give me. Congratulations though! You look amazing and I’m so happy you feel even better 💙
It's insanely uncomfortable. I shared pictures of what it looks like in an old video but just Google "sleep study". You have about 25 wires attached to you and glued into your hair. I also had to have a monitor under my nose and curled around my lip. Then they stick you on an uncomfortable hospital bed, tell you not to move, and don't allow you to use your phone or read to fall asleep. AND there's a camera watching your every move and microphones attached to you. It was the literal worst! lol
Bruh, I really felt the "Weight capacity" thing. I even have to double-check the weight capacity of treadmills. Why the f*** manufacturers would make treadmills with a weight capacity of 250lbs is beyond me. The average football player couldn't even use that.
"I don't feel ashamed to take up the space Im taking up" - that truly said it all. I can relate to that a lot honestly! Im so happy for you!
Thank you. While I'm much happier with how I look and feel, it's the mental shift that I'm the most grateful for.

Love your journey. I'm at the very beginning of mine and the heaviest I've ever been. You are so darn inspiring.
Sending love from Oregon
Love ya!! I wish you all the best with your journey. It's hard any way you slice it, but it's so worth it in the end.
Just warms my heart to see your joy!
