Sprinter 4x4 diagonal test note: The Sprinter 4x4 has no mechanical locker, it's only the ESP that will brake the spinning wheel. But you have to be constant with the throttle. Keep it steady and let the ESP work. It's more an AWD system rather than a true 4x4. Sprinters in different parts of the world have various four-wheel drive options. Here, the system provides power around 30% to the front wheels, 70% to the rear. The van has to be stopped before you can engage or disengage the 4×4 system. It’s not a true on-the-fly system. The 4×4 vans come with the low range button, this adds a 40% gear reduction, which provides higher revs at lower speeds, giving more torque to the wheels and shows better results in the diagonal test! The best way to do it is to keep steady pressure on the accelerator and never release it. #sprinter4x4 #diagonaltest #mercedesbenzsprinter
It looks like you really got to rep the motor to get the all-wheel drive system to work good, I'm really impressed with the Toyota Sequoia system because you don't have to rev it as much for the wheels to to really start working, but this is still pretty good
01:30 the van is in 2x4 with ESP off, and one wheel is hanging in the air - how is the van still moving, since all the power is supposed to go to the wheel with the least resistance, and that wheel is hanging in the air?
@@ihikebc2295 ESP cuts power so that you won't slide your ass off the road :D But if you are doing serious off-roading, 4WD + Low Range + ESP Off is the best combination. But if you're traveling on a freeway with 2WD only, you should always keep your ESP on cause it will save your life if somehow your vehicle starts to swerve and loose traction/balance
@@ihikebc2295 as far as I know the "ESP off" really means "less ESP", it lets some spin in the wheel in acceleration or braking, which helps traction in some environments. I believe it just takes more time to activate the braking in the loose wheel

Wow! I wouldn't expect anything less from Mercedes. That's very very very very impressive
Indeed it’s impressive
We also did a towing 4x4 test, make sure you don’t miss it
Excellent demonstration. Thanks
Excellent test!
At times the lean of the vehicle was scary.

I forgot, Gimme Jelly Donut!
i was confused that you would not ask! :P 🍩🍽
@@CarQuestion thank you!
"esp off" in a German car is the biggest placebo button in the car world.
Merci pour le test

bonjour je ne voie pas la difference avec ESP et sans ESP ?

The wheel on the air is still braked because of ASR which is still active.
@@stormdancer1910 thank you. Then, what's the benefit of ESP in this case? Would the wheel in the air be braked even more with ESP on?

Is it just me or does it look like the rear has very little articulation for a solid axle?
What tire size r u running?
