    I used a spreadsheet to make a chart of my circuits indexed 2 ways: by circuit breaker number and then by room. This is taped to the breaker box. I have updated it over the years as electricians made minor additions and modifications. And I've added a note calling out 2 circuits that are presently very lightly loaded (due to things having been removed) and so they are candidates for repurposing.

      Additional tip: Describe locations in a way other people will understand. One of mine came labeled "Tim's room." I never met Tim or knew what room was his. It is now "Bedroom, front middle, outlets."

      I mean if a customers wanted me to add SPD I could use the Square D one or the Eaton complete home sure protection that is approved by mike holmes. Then going down the road if a customer wants a generator you have to install a good interlock. Pushing it even further to a transfer switch and a generator on a pad.
