- What's up guys. In today's video i wanted to discuss my opinions on why so many people are crashing their G8x BMW M cars. I feel like the amount of videos i've been seeing online of people crashing their cars is crazy so I just wanted to give me thoughts and perspectives on things.

For those who are looking at buying an F8X or G8X, the crashes are primarily a skill issue for most. I’ve had a pure turbo F8X and currently have a RWD G82 Comp. I always drive with traction and DCS fully off while making 750+ WHP. Good tires and driving within your powerband is what’s most important. The powerband for the G8X is incredibly linear, thus making it easier to control. In essence, I recommend people to stay away from first gear pulls and to only do second gear pulls if they have good tires, (NT555R2, R888R, etc,.).
That's why I got a G20 320i as my first car. Learn to be a little quicker in something slower and then upgrade once I get good enough to need more power.

Driving with Traction (DTC) off is fine. The reason why people wreck left and right is becuase they turn off Stability (DSC) as well and that's just asking for trouble..
Yup that's how I crashed my first one. Having a rwd car and having all of it turned off is fun but cars are putting down so much power it's so easy to make a mistake and end up in a fence. XDrive I will say feels alot safer
Haha that's crazy I literally just wrote a video script about this a few days ago and mentioned you lol. Having driven multiple F8X cars and a few s63 bmws, another thing is that because these turbos are small they spool up FAST and give you peak torque at below 2000rpm. At full throttle, 1st and 2nd gear aren't really useable and guys upgrading from mustangs and scat packs have likely never felt a power curve like this in their lives. Then when they get in a G8X car with x drive that saves their ass for them every time they put their foot to teh floor they think they can just floor it and not die in any situation and when they try and turn TC off and try to mimic what they see on social media and actually break traction they don't know how to control it when the rear wheels are cutting loose like that.
I big percentage of the crashes is because people are adding big power without proper wheel/tire setup. Doesn't matter if it's xdrive, you still need proper tires
The fastest car I've driven is my stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8. It's estimate 348 horsepower, but it's probably lower because it'a automatic. I can't afford an F22 M240i, let alone a G87 M2. I may never be able to experience those cars. I would like to learn how to drive manual and buy an R33 Skyline someday. My favorite Japanese car. It's all imagination though.

what happened to starting off with a civic or corolla until your learn to drive...i started off with a 120 hp, then 225hp and 350 hp until i jumped to my stage 2 F82...and I've been driving for over 10 years before i got my real performance car. A kid with a 5 month license shouldn't be anywhere near an M4...
I have a stage 1 M4 and these cars are no joke especially if you turn the traction control off. I’m a driver and I have been driving rear wheel drive cars most of my life so I know what my M4 is capable of. I think the reason why people crash these cars is lack of experience or being stupid or punching the gas pedal around turns. But you have to learn these cars before you start wilding out in them

Nah Son, as far as this vid, warming tires ain't got nothing to do with anything. 99% the BMW M crashes are user error. Once that TC is off, 99% of the drivers become novice drivers and can't handle the HP, warm tires or not.
Strong concur. I have PZ4's on my G82 RWD. The backend gets squirrelly in a straightline when the temperature gets below 60.
This is so true. My brother got a rental company and after his first m3 got totaled he decided to deactivate 2wd and turning tc off. Three weeks later some dude crashed it literally 500m from the rental company at the forst slight curve going only 60mph. People no nothing about driving physics but drive like race car drivers.
@@ohdoyletake those tires off if you slide around. They will delaminate and chunk after 1 donut. Happened on a 330i g20 and an e63. FUCK PIRELLI

Took my G82 Comp to a skidpad to find out how it handles. What I found is that DSC is shite. It is easy to spin. MDM generates more initial understeer than DSC. Traction Control settings, 8,9 and 10 are more probably safer too.
BMW's are the new mustang's... kids see others with them online, go and buy one at 16, then turn traction off and try to replicate what they see in video games and online, then crash.. simple solution, make all performance cars manual again, will keep the goofballs away since there wont be any paddles for them to flick
Very cool video, not for the crashing per se, but since you’re driving in Columbus. My son graduated from OSU in 2022 and stayed in Columbus.
We went to visit him while he was a student and now go a couple times a year to hang with him.
I ordered a 2025 M3 Comp XDR in November and should have it in February and I plan to visit him after I get my first service. I’m thinking in May or June so the weather is nice.
Do you have a shop in Columbus, I’ll be buying a lot of parts?
Too many young cats with little experience, big egos and little brains getting into these cars. Most of the crashes are literally clout chasing idiots… sad really, because besides that the community is great.
They are taking over the $100k and under daily drive able sports car. Not only that for $10k worth of mods you can reach 800 to 900 hp pretty easily.

First of all, congrats on your M440i! I hope you enjoy it and I'm proud of you for your hard work. But the reality is a lot of kids' parents bought them these cars. That's just how it is. There's nothing wrong with your parents getting you something nice. I'm sure there are plenty of people who worked hard for their cars.

Really the number one reason is bc of Instagram… these mfs think bc they see ppl that really can drive slide them cars and make it look easy that they can do it aswell. Same shit i see with motorcycles thinking they can wheelie/lane split at crazy speeds bc social media has made it look so easy 😂
People with a high level of intelligence design systems that allow mere mortals to enjoy the power with a high degree of safety built in. Then people with no brains or skill turn those systems off, drive too fast for the situation and end up crashing. Problem’s with some of the drivers not the cars.

It’s all the driver. Since they can afford a 80k car, they can afford to buy a 1k driving sim and learn how to slide. There’s kids like trustfundgarage who’s not much older than a high schooler and can he drift like no other. It’s not about not having grippy tires or cold tires. I prefer having the least amount of grip in my f80, but that’s because I slide. Learn to drive.
