    I agree with Dr. Jared Cramer. Either every religion should be afforded the same opportunities, or those opportunities should not be available to any religion, especially within govermental settings.

      @@roddbroward9876They have congregations that meet regularly twice a week, have religious ceremonies and Rituals, have a set of affirmative beliefs outlined in 7 tenets, have a historical backdrop going back to Enlightenment era values, have a structured hierarchy of ministry, and they have Federal tax-exempt IRS status as a legitimate church. And all of that occurs independently of participation in public open-forums which include other religious groups. I think they have a lot more going for them than the pastafarians, as evidently, they are functioning as an actual religion outside of all the things you hear in the news.
      I encourage you to do research and see these things for yourself.

      The funny thing is that’s the exact same stance of the Satanic Temple. They believe that there should be no invocations in government. But while there are, ALL religions must be given equal access. That’s how freedom of religion works under the 1st amendment.

      Your ignorance is astounding. They understand the constitution better than you do clearly. The Pledge of allegiance, although around since 1892, did not become official in schools until 1954 and added "Under God". The requirement for people to pledge allegiance to a piece of nylon under the name of a Christian God is ludicrous. Jehovah's Witnesses (A flavor of Christianity) consider this idolitry (which I agree with), atheists believe we should not be forced to acknowledge or pledge anything to any deity, and why should Hindu, Jew or Muslim pledge to anything using the Christian God. Are you aware that Freedom FROM Religion comes before Freedom OF Religion in the text you lot like to quote? YOUR religion belongs in YOUR church, not OUR lives.

    • @Dingolia

      Please understand, Christianity does not have a monopoly on the character called "Satan". Satan also appears in such books as The Revolt of the Angels, by Anatole France, wherein Satan is a kind & wise giver of knowledge to mankind, a captain against arbitrary authority, and an advocate for equal rights. This is but one example.
      These Satanists draw on these literary versions of Satan, and have assimilated many of the same values.

      The main reason is to fight for first amendment rights across the US when it comes to separation of church and state.
      It helps to have an offensive name rather than the Fluffy Bunny Cult or whatever.
      If you're going to have a Christian invocation in your school board meeting, the Satanic Temple wants to make sure Satanic invocations will also be held, because they think government should just not have any specific religion endorsed. And I think they're pretty spot on.

    • @Dingolia
      @Dingolia Месяц назад

      @@Hancockjohn-pl9cmwhat evidence do you have? My argument for why the God of the Bible does not exist is as follows:
      • The God of the bible has certain claimed properties: Infallible, All-knowing, omnipresent, benevolent, Almighty.
      • The bible is claimed to be a collection of God's personal messages to mankind
      • Since the God of the bible is supposed to be infallible, if there's anything in the bible that's factually incorrect or contradicts his claimed properties, then the bible becomes unreliable and its God cannot exist, lest he becomes fallible.
      As it so happens, there's plenty of things like this in the bible. The condoning of slavery, for example, contradicts the claimed properties of benevolence. Leviticus 25: 44-46 “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; *from them you may buy slaves* . You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."
      An all-knowing God would have to know exactly the kind of empty, painful lives slaves are forced to live through, and yet, in the bible, he condones it! So either the God of the bible is not in fact benevolent (or infallible), or the God depicted in the bible does not exist as claimed. (Keep in mind, the condoning of slavery is just one example).

      @Dingolia Месяц назад

      @@JoMiMo555 My position is "Don't assume that they're evil without evidence". This is not a truth claim in itself, and so requires no evidence.
      However, you mention that they're evil on account of the name "Satanist", which would only be true if Satan existed, if The god of the bible existed, if that God wasn't evil, and if Satan *was* evil.
      And thankfully, there's enough evidence to indicate that the God of the bible couldn't possibly exist, since the bible itself is flawed (and Id be happy to elaborate on that upon request).
      Therefore, it would be unwise to assume these people are necessarily evil just because they call themselves Satanists.
