Peric, you can catch long cod in California the two months before summer. It's great rock fish fishing during the winter but great Calico fishing, Sand bass fishing. You should come to Dana Point, California. You can also catch some yellowtail!
Alex, you can catch monster lingcod in California . They have charter boats that go out of Oxnard , ca . I've gone out many times and almost every time I've caught two lingcod. And the limit for rockfish in cali is 10 so more fishing.
John Wacker he'd get his ass whooped by the yellowtail or bluefin. He got tired reeling in the halibut in a rod holder. I chuck iron for yellows all the time and he'd never be able to get it in to gaff the damn yellow let alone a bluefin.
Merrik Lofquist agreed. He was struggling to reel in a rockfish even... no way these Googans can handle yellowtail and tuna. Doubt they could even chuck an iron either so that leaves live bait or yo-yo's.

Hey Alex you can catch Lings in the West coast from southern california up to washington. I brough up a 20+lber that piggybacked my rockfish in northern california.
You can catch Ling cod in several states. I live in Los Angeles and it's actually pretty common to catch Ling cod up to 25 pounds here. Same with rockfish for sure they're a lot smaller than the ones you guys caught here but we get decent sized rockfish just about year round. Also we have ideal halibut fishing!
Rockfish are crazy looking. My uncle went fishing in Alaska and brought some yellow rockfish back home, and gave me some to try. GREAT tasting fish. You wouldn't think it by looking at them but they are. And yeah, crazy what happens with their bladders. Gotta bring them up real slow I guess if you plan on releasing them.

We have great lingcod and rockfish fishing down in California. The ocean is calmer too. I catch lings off my 10ft kayak. I caught a 27lb ling a quarter mile from shore.
Peric there's lingcod down here in Central California too, not just in Alaska. Come out to San Luis Obispo, CA and there's some damn good bass, rockcod, and lingcod fishing here too
I've caught those gold rock fish when I visited Nova Scotia. It was cool because we were catching tons of fish by just vertical jigging a large sabiki set up.

You can catch lingcod in California, Caught quite big ones off the Channel Islands
