Gracie Fields performs one of her most popular comedy songs ''Walter, Walter''. This video is an absolute lesson in delivery of a comic monologue.
Taken from the film 'We're Going To Be Rich', which -as yet sadly, has yet to have a DVD release.

Born in 1949 in Astoria, Queens NY. The adults use to sing this to me and I just heard it recently. Love it.Thank you Walter.
Wasn’t she just wonderful. Bless her heart. Thanks for posting this.
She is amazing. Are you the real Carole King? If so you are amazing as well.
@@missyhilary8905 unfortunately not. I’m just ordinary 🥰
@@carolking6355 thanks for getting back. You are sweet. I love Carol King, too. I’ve been watching a lot of movies with Our Gracie in them. She was amazing as could be. My sister and I both write and sing songs, but we’re very old-fashioned as far as music goes.
@@missyhilary8905 my favourites are Holy Matrimony - she doesn’t sing in it but I love it. Molly and me is great too. Thanks for reminding me . Time I rewatched them. You must both be very talented. 🥰
@@carolking6355 well, we used to do it, but when all of this computer stuff started, it was very discouraging to see the bad talent, and I’ve known people who got caught up in drugs and too much stuff. It just seemed like fame wasn’t important when I had kids to raise. I absolutely love Matromony. That was so touching. The one from 39 is very moving. Believe it or not, we’re both in our forties. We just hate this horrible stuff they’re trying to pass off as music now. No one wants to work hard at their craft. Back then, you had to be good. What a range and whistle she had! I don’t think she gets the credit for being instrumental in the war effort.
This song was used in the horror film "YELLOWBRICKROAD"! Excellent movie!
Oh my gosh, I looked for this about three days ago and couldn't find it---- and now it's here! Thanks.
Genuinely superb voice, especially here.
Legend
a great song
Walter Walter lead me to the alter I'm getting old and so are you!
Even when I love George the Legend Formby,I do like our Gracey
What crap.
This reflects badly on you. Gracie is a legend a true star.
The one and only
thanks an insight
to my childhood
they used this song in a movie called YELLOW BRICK ROAD.
I’m related to Gracie fields
Jesus use the current war war in to let me discover her music. I think him for your existence as well.
My name is Walter
And could never understand why ladies (older females) would always quote me these words
walter
My grandfather used to say that if Gracie Fields had not existed, Germany wouldn't have put so much effort into bombing England.
Well, hats off to your grandfather. I guess she really was the girl that made the thing I’m a Bob that won the war. At least that’s what we thought.
YELLOWBRICKROAD!!!
My grandfather's name was Walter. I wonder if my grandmother sang this to him.
Just for the record, she didn't have any tattoos.
Haha, how was this comment relevant to tattoos?
The lyric of 'Walter, Walter, lead me to the altar and I'll show you where I'm tattoo'd!'
Haha, I had to play it in my head to realise what he meant
Fab.
Don´t muck the goods about no longer hahaha
Where was this performed?
the lip synch is out of sync.
Walter white 👴
A million times beter than Ruby Wax. Lovely. And better than make over over and over Joan Collins.
Stop comparing women and appreciate them for their individuality.
She was good, but George Formby for me
