Thanks, Steve! An old aircraft maintenance trick that accomplishes the same thing is to use a piece of chamois to filter the gasoline. Water stays in the chamois, gasoline passes through. Did this far too many times in Northern Ontario. Stay well!
Thanks Steve - I just bought one on Amazon for my generator after a power outage a few weeks back, not so much for the water removal than it looked like the best, most stable size for filling the generator. My old funnel left gas splashing all over the place. I was skeptical about the water removal function but now know it works which is a bonus. Keep up the great videos!
I was skeptical of these. RUclipsd it, Steves video came up first. He has not steered me wrong yet. I trust his advice. I will be buying one. Thanks Steve for all the helpull videos.
I recommended Mr. Funnel to you several years ago. I have a complete set of Mr. Funnels and love all of them. I fill a 5-gal No-Spill Poly Gas Can with Premium Unleaded gas at the filling station and then when I get back to my place, I pour 5-gallons from my plastic can into one of my 4 high-tech 5-gallon steel cans using Mr. Funnel. I then add Sta-bil and Lucus fuel treatment and then fill up a 2.5-gallon No-Spill Poly Gas Can again using Mr. Funnel for use in my equipment using un-mixed gas. I also fill up a 2.5-gallon No-Spill Poly Gas Can filtered again with Mr. Funnel and then add Stihl Synthetic mixed oil in a 40 to 1 ratio. I never have any gas problems in my lawn mower, snow blower, string trimmer, lawn edger, chain saw, etc.
I’ve been using it for over a year. I even go so far as to filter old gas through it and reuse the gas. Takes out water and dirt. Can’t beat that at Sears.
Mr Funnel works like a CHAMPION. I’ve got the next bigger size from the one in the video. I store mine inside a gallon zip lock baggy. Fantastic for lawn mowers, outboards ect. My advice is If using for farm tractors large boats ect spend the cash buy the biggest one . It has two of those towers and should work at closer to the speed of a regular funnel. The singles are really slow for pouring from a 5 gallon can ect. Well worth the money and in my experience last a lifetime , 15 years and counting. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😻 I even used mine to salvage some old dirty rusty fuel oil to burn in my tractor.. NOTHING showed up in my clear bottle tests and clear prefilter. I did run it through twice to be sure and diluted it with a lot of new oil before running it but no problems at all. I can’t recommend these enough just don’t go cheap with a small one or you’ll be getting tired of holding that gas can really fast
Question? what if you trying to remove ethanol from your fuel by adding water shaking and let it. If you pour that ingredients through this funnel will it leave you with fresh non ethanol, no water in the fuel? Great video. Thanks
Good day from Ont. Yes I bought from CTC a few yrs. ago. Mine might be a different brand. I paid $13.00 back then. But mine you may not fill up, pressure or what ever lets water thur. Also you cannot drain completey empty, so you always some gas or water in funnel I bug from CTC premium gas & don't worry about it. Thanks
Thank you for testing this yourself ! I was one of many asking for your opinion on Mr. Funnel. I have been using Mr. Funnel for years and believe in the product. This filter also does an excellent job of stopping any debris from entering your gas tank. Take care and thanks again...
Steve great video. You should try the Mr. Funnel to remove ethanol from gas. Add water to gas shake let rest for 5 minuets then pour through Mr. Funnel and see if the ethanol and water is removed from gas. Give it a try. Thanks
I had the green version of this funnel a few years ago. It actually does a great job. I would like to see a video on sucking debris out of a riding mower tank. I've used a claw tool for big stuff, & a copper line hooked to a clear line attached to a vacuum pump. Let me know if you have any better ideas. Thanks
Off the Mr funnel site: Q. Will the filter work on mixed fuel with 2-cycle oil in it? A. Yes, but if your 2-cycle oil has a detergent base the detergents can break down molecules of water and some water might pass the screen. Usually only a drop or two but if you are concerned, filter the fuel a second time because unless the sump is full of water, it is not possible that any water passed the filter.
Do you need separate ones for gasoline and diesel? How does it handle two cycle fuel mix? Usually make a gallon of that and use it throughout the season.
Steve, it is because of your tube videos that I learned how to properly maintain my first Still chainsaw. Needless to say, when I recently bought a MS360 that had only been run about 15 min, it was your video on how to start a flooded chainsaw by holding the throttle and pulling the hell out of it to get it going. I got a steal on the saw as nobody had been able to start it. This Mr. Funnel video was well-done straight to the point and actually convinced me that I need one. I hope you get reimbursed for products sales because you definitely deserve it. I will be sharing this video with a few friends of mine as well. Thank you
It works fine with two cycle mix fuel as well. Have done it many times in the Arctic. The oil molecules mixed with the gas are so fine they go right through the mesh.
Best demo I've seen for some time. No special provisions must be met for it to work, it appears it JUST DOES. Thanks great for marine as well. Chris Boyce
Nice one Steve. I been using MR Funnel to clean diesel in my boat fuel tank. I pump dirty diesel and water out of the bottom of the built in tank, into a gallon jug. Filter that and return it to the tank......repeatedly. My fuel filters are much cleaner now. Does it separate diesel bug ? Sure does ! L&R from the UK.
Steve I was curious, I have a mr funnel and it works amazing for taking water out of the gas. One major question I have is I’m going to be making ethanol free gas with the water in the gas truck. My question is when the water and ethanol are separated from the gas if I pour the gas and water mixture down a mr funnel would that take the water and the ethanol out or would the ethanol get re combined with the gas when I try to pour it into the funnel after it’s separated
Easy way to tell if it does or doesn’t would be too run it through the Mr funnel. Then afterwards put the filtered fuel into a graduated cylinder with measurements marks on it, say 100 ml of fuel then add 20ml of water. Then look at the measurement llone too see if the water that has separated from the fuel is at the 20ml mark! If it is then the ethanol was removed. However if the separated water is now say at 30ml that means that the ethanol was still in the gas.
What an excellent demonlstration, now when I build and use my ethanol separator I can use the funnel to eliminate all water and hopefully the ethanol in the tailings of the fuel canister.
@Thinking Impaired, can you really separate the water from ethanol fuel to truly make non-ethanol fuel? I have seen a few videos of this, but really don't know.
@@JohnSmith-tv5ep yes it's easy because ethanol loves water. And gasoline hates water. Get a glass cup or bottle add half gas and add about 20% water. The fluids will separate much like oil and vinegar separate in salad dressing. Water ethanol will be on the bottom. Some people add food coloring to make it easy to tell the difference. So if you design a container that you can drain off what's on the bottom of the mix you'll remove the ethanol water mix.
@@thinkingimpaired5663 thanks for your reply! So,.... a question, would it make a difference using 'tap' water, or would you have to use 'distilled' water?
Steve, you never cease to amaze me. And save me money with your videos. I bought Mr. Funnel to add to my arsenal of tools for my gas powered toys. This gadget does what it says it does. Amazing technology and quite affordable. Thank you so much Steve
If i was to try and mix water with 10% ethanol gas and let it settle. Then use this funnel to filter it would it also remove the Ethanol? Just wondering. Great video I subscribed and now I'm running through you back log video. Beautiful stuff your doing.
They work great, as long as the water is not emulsified in the fuel. They also don't work so well if you shake or agitate the fuel can that has water in it before using the funnel, as it temporarily bonds with the fuel and it passes through the coated screen with the fuel, and will soon separate back out of suspension and you will then have water in your equipment's fuel tank anyway.
I only buy premium unleaded with no ethanol for my equipment and so the only water I'm straining out is from the water in the bottom of the 10,000-gallon tank at the filling station. The water sits in my gas can for 10 minutes before I transfer it into my steel gas can. I've conducted a few tests with a granulated test tube and after the ethanol and water are shaken, it only takes a few minutes for the water to precipitate out of the solution. My gas station gas has negligible water in it.
OK, you got my interest. I went to look on line for them, and they don't have replacement parts, so I assume you need to occassionally clean them, or maybe they only are good for x amount of uses? How do you clean them? Do you just leave the water and debris in the filter until the water evaporates, and then tap out the debris?
