    The Barça fans should keep in mind that their club accepted a tgen world record fee. Figo didn't simply betray them

    Sol Campbell to Arsenal was a bigger betrayal. Sol came out of the Spurs academy and walked away for free and literally could have gone anywhere he wanted. Like who was going to say no to a world class 27 year old center back for no transfer fee? But he chose Arsenal.

      It's obvious he wanted to win trophies and stay living in north London where his friends and family were.
      Spurs were OK back then but not regularly in Europe or fighting for titles. Spurs' can blame themselves for allowing his contract to expire... imagine you were Tranmere Rovers' most important player, they let your contract expire, and Liverpool come in for you... professionally it's too good to turn down, and you get to remain living were you are with your family and friends.
      Lewandowski from Dortmund to Bayern is a really head scratching one. I don't know what Dortmund were thinking. Lewandowski made it known he wanted to play for Bayern and refused offers from every other top club. Dortmund refused to sell him to their rivals because it was too soon after selling Götze to them. Lewandowski played over a year for Dortmund with everyone at the club and all the fans knowing he was joining Bayern for free at the end of his contract. Dortmund should've cashed in and bought a replacement. At least Barça got a world record fee for their captain.

      @@wolfpackpete6408 dude the vast majority of rival clubs are neighbours. The Spurs Arsenal rivalry is massive so there is no excuse for making that move. Lewandowski is bad but he wasn’t the first player that Bayern took from a huge rival in Germany. It’s normal there. Mario Gotze literally went there with him that same summer. And Lewa wasn’t an academy player like Sol was.

      @SonnyK248 Lewandowski joined Bayern the following a year after Götze. It is more common for clubs outwith England to join rivals, but even when Götze returned to Dortmund, the fans hadn't forgiven him.
      Lewandowski simply joining Bayern isn't the issue. It's bizarre for him to spend a year at Dortmund with everyone knowing the whole time that he would leave for their rivals a year later.
      Götze and Lewandowski had been important for Dortmund as they won the bundesliga a couple of years, doing the German league and Cup double in one of those seasons. Dortmund aren't a club without ambition. Losing their top players directly to Bayern is an insult. Götze, Lewandowski, Hummels... that's like if Carragher, Gerrard, Torres/Suárez all left Liverpool to join Utd in the space of a few years.

      @@wolfpackpete6408 it’s not weird. Michael Ballack signed for Bayern from Leverkusen a year before he left. If you aren’t Bayern you almost expect your great players to end up there eventually. No one is shocked when Bayern sign their competitors best players. They expect it. So I can’t even slightly compare Lewa to Bayern to Sol Campbell, an academy player at Spurs and their captain, leaving on a free to literally the one place his fans would choose him not to go. I get that he wanted to stay close to home. But that’s no excuse to do that to your fans and your club.

    Real Madrid paid £37 million
    3 years earlier Newcastle paid £15 to break the world transfer record to buy Alan Shearer.
    The equivalent would be today if Man Utd paid €500 million for Mo Salah would he be seen in the same light as Figo?

    • @wolfpackpete6408
      @wolfpackpete6408 5 месяцев назад +1

      A little different for a few reasons. Figo was Barça captain. Plus Salah has already given Liverpool his best years, Figo left to have them with Madrid

    • @SSsacas

      @@wolfpackpete6408 saying Figo left to have the best of his years as a footballer with Real Madrid is debatable. He playeed in a high level in Real Madrid, but almost everyone says his best years were in Barcelona. Infact, he should've won the Ballon D'Or a year earlier and even the Ballon D'Or he won was because of his last year with Barcelona.
