Dude, it's just a Rolex, so wear it and enjoy it. Life is too short!
why is it short? how stupid you are
@@strongherd Lol 50 IQ
No
I know I’m late to the party, but the client thing is a huge part of it. We have people who drive fancy cars in our insurance marketing organization that have to park around the corner from clients’ houses and I wouldn’t be caught dead trying to sell to someone on government assistance or even an average income family with a Rolex on.
@@strongherd we live forever I forgot 🤦🏻♂️😂
You don’t want to be known for having a Rolex at work but you have a RUclips channel mainly talking about your Rolex?
Alexis Reyes very good point. It’s like someone from his employer could be watching his channel, and thinking hey we’re paying him to much money because he’s continuously speaking about his Rolex.
Hahahahaha
People at his workplace don’t have to know about his channel...I think it’s a understandable reason to not wear a luxury watch at work if you are not the type of guy who wants to attract attention
japanwatchconnection agreed, some people get jealous though, sadly...
Alexis you stole my line and a joke😀💥😉
Maybe he doesn't wear it anymore, but just waves it around while holding it in his hand talking to people.
Lol flex the Rolex
Lmao
Life is short, young man. Don’t take today for granted, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. What other people think about you, isn’t important. Be yourself, wear your watch, everyday, in good health. I have worn nothing but Rolex, for 30 years now. Some have a taste for the finer things in life, others have no taste. Don’t be one of them. Enjoy.
Well said
Yeah, make yourself a target. 🤦🏻 And as for your life is short bollocks. Tell that to someone undergoing chemotherapy, you fucking idiot.
That is why you are still single with that "Luxury" watch for the past 30 years.
Agreed 👍🏽
Exactly
You don't own that watch anymore. It owns you!
i realize Im pretty off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Branson Miles I would suggest Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Holden Howard Yea, have been using FlixZone for since april myself :D
@Holden Howard thank you, signed up and it seems to work :) I appreciate it !
@Branson Miles no problem :)
Man, you have a lot of thoughts about what other people may or may not be thinking. Who knew your watch was creating such a stir! I wear mine a lot and I can count on a few fingers the number of times anyone has ever said a word about it or noticed it at all. Nobody cares about your watch except other watch nerds. Don't sweat it.
Yeah most people don’t bat an eye unless they are also into watches
Nobody cares about watches except watch people. There aren't a lot of watch people around, like at all.
If anything, people will think it's an invicta, or a knockoff
dont forget the people that like to take watches off said watch nerds. stay safe out there, lots of stupid stuff going on
Yeah watches are invisible to anyone except watch nerds
Im glad to see this comment. I am contemplating buying a vintage sub. At first I thought I’d buy a Tudor simply because the brand is less recognizable, but the vintage Tudors aren’t that much cheaper than the vintage Rolexes. I’d like to buy it, enjoy it, and not get any weird judgment from people. I’m glad to hear that hasn’t been your experience.
In this case I suggest you wear it when going to bed and take it off when you wake up!

I have Rolex Submariner ceramic no date and I don’t care what people think but how watch makes me feel. You should be judged on who are as a person not your watch.
Yes you should be judged on who you are correct, unfortunately the world doesn't work that way, just like you are judged on the car you drive, do you own your own property, what job do you have, what is your salery etc.

"I don't want to be known for having a Rolex at work...", followed by him posting a video of him talking about his Rolex. Rolex owners are like BMW owners... ostentatious when they pretend not to be, all the while lacking an understanding of true quality and value.
I couldn't even finish watching this video after that statement.
What's wrong with BMW? It's just a regular car. Know what, over here in Germany people think of a ford f-150 as an ostentatious car which is in fact the best selling pickup truck in the us and nothing special. Is all about your point of view.
@@Ratselmeister Here, and most of the world, BMWs are seen as overpriced status symbols. Anyone who has ever owned one has to have questioned their own judgement. And the Angel's....they did sing
I have several Rolex and seldom wear them. Instead, I bought a Tudor BB58 blue and wear that daily. The Tudor is 95% the quality of a Rolex for 1/3 the price….and ZERO ‘douche bag status’.
I have the new sub with date and a GS snowflake.. I'm currently trying to buy a Tudor bb58 also to wear as a beater.. I agree with what you say.
You should sell your Rolex then if you don't wear it all the time. Don't waste this watch.
No need to wear it everyday if you have other options. Regarding the perception of wearing a Rolex, you knew that when you bought it. That perception has been around for 40 years.

@@astrix1014Dude, Tag isn’t on Breitling’s level. Tag is a department store brand watch for the most part. I don’t consider it a luxury watch brand.
Get a Grand Seiko. Someone asks what it is, you say Seiko. Done and done. Beautiful watch, no issues. Everyday wear.
Totally. But 95% of people that buy luxury watches are buying them so they feel good about having money and because they want to show other people that they have money. It's really a self worth driven market. 95% of people that buy luxury watches don't want to have to answer that they are wearing a Seiko. Why? Because that means $200 to the average person... I know a bunch of you are going to get triggered by this but you know it's true... maybe you are in the 5% that is actually buying the watch because they understand it, love it, value it, and could care less if anyone else knows about your brand...
Yup, a good work/everyday watch is a GS. Or Nomos. I'm seeing more and more suits wearing Nomos these days.

@japanwatchconnection wow! interesting. I have had both as well and think the finishing on Rolex isn't anywhere close to grand seiko. Nothing against Rolex. Wear what you want but I truly thought GS was much better

Hey surge, I feel you on this matter. I had purchased the Batman recently and it’s not in the 20k range but I wear it after thinking I could die any day and so it’s best to just enjoy it. At the same time I do not flash it in public and be aware of my surroundings. To top it off, I think if you purchase insurance from hodinkee or jewellers mutual, you should be fine. Just enjoy your watch!
Buy a Tudor or an Omega. I got my Submariner when I was 18 that is long ago. I used it and beat it for more than 30 years. Nowadays I wear a Phoibos as a dayly beater. Phoibos is a nice homage. The Suariner is totally restored like new. It is a 1680 from 1976...a present from my dad. My brother got an Omega Speedmaster mark II.😎😎Tool watches...

It's a nice watch, I owned one, but sold it and never regretted it. There are so many amazing watches to be had at that price point.
TheAmericanStranger1 what did you bought to replace it ?
A timeless watch such as the ref 114060 would be hard to say goodbye too bud. I don’t see any other model competing with it
My friend, I just ran across your video, I thought maybe there would be some new content on the submariner. After listening to what you said, just a thought, I own a very successful company, and I’m not ashamed to wear a beautiful watch. I have an amazing Rolex collection, you should look at it another way also besides life is too short. Did you ever think that maybe your clients who see you wearing something like this have probably come to the conclusion that perhaps you do very well at what you do and your successful. Another way to look at it is you obviously know what you’re doing if you can spend that kind of money on a watch, so maybe they should listen to your suggestions and advice, and in the future they can afford one too at some point just a thought.
I think Rolex is the perfect daily wearer among all luxury watches specially the black subs... maybe 1 out of 1000 people would even ask about it if noticing it at all- at least that's my case, but at the same time you get to see it at any moment. Watches are made to be worn on the wrist. Enjoy them with good health.
So far, I've only bought stuff that I could replace tomorrow if lost. If you can only afford one, it's not really worth it.
A Rolex IS a tool watch; it’s just not seen that way. Sure people may see it as a luxury item, but you can’t still take it diving and beat it up and it keep good time. And if you really aren’t wearing a Submariner because eyoure afraid of what people think of you, you don’t deserve a Rolex.
What I loved is - you spoke your heart out about the real life situations unlike idealists - it’s your watch, wear it everyday, don’t care about the surroundings or whatever.
You actually shared the harsh reality.
The hype is dying and the supplies are building up. It’s not that big of a deal.
So it’s ok to drive a $30k (insert any average car) but wearing an $8k watch is the height of snobbery?
My friend who drives a Mercedes gave me grief over getting a Sub Date.. Meanwhile after insurance, gas and parking his car costs him 1k per month.. 10 months of that and you have yourself a watch which can last generations.
Folk need to get over themselves. Most people couldn’t give a stuff about the watch that some other people wear. More to the point, they don’t really know what a Rolex is.......no, really!
@Weird Science where do you live that people act like that? No one i know nor the areas i visit think that way
@Weird Science with your reply I now understand the class of person you are, disregard my comments
@Weird Science I didn't read anything you said, it was too long, have a good day
Dear Serge, like the majority of viewers have mentioned in their comments to your video , you saved and sacrificed and put in the efforts to finally purchase and own a Rolex Submariner date , the romance is slowly fading away for this watch , as we all saw in this video, however , there’s a solution to everything , I would personally suggest to remove the stainless steel bracelet and glide lock clasps and mount a Rubber B/ Everestband black rubber strap with normal 316 stainless steel buckle , and below are my reasons why:
1) wearability , the watch feels much lighter and does not shout R O L E X! R O L E X! in people’s faces. I’ve tested it myself. Nobody notices it as much anymore.
2) durability , the rubber band it’s really durable and very comfortable on the wrist both in hot/cold days. If you are also into diving/swimming , it is good as well for that purpose and it won’t disappoint you.
3) You will definitely save your Rolex oyster bracelet , if you are concerned of the scratches in the long run.
4) This final point is for you Surge , don’t let other people’s negative opinion put you down , they do not know what you’ve been through and the effort and sacrifices you’ve made to reach this grail watch, wear it in happiness.
Take care
Mark
He should sell it. The love is gone, you are correct.
Mark you give sound advice. I think some Rolex owners (especially those who had to save for a while to buy one)get self conscious about the watch, but also expect it to work like magic, instantly earning the approval and admiration of your peers. I have found that most people either don't notice it or don't mention it if they do. Very few people even know what a Rolex costs, they think $2k is expensive. Ultimately it's just a watch in the eyes of most people.
I will add that watches also seem to look better when you see another person with it. I have a Datejust that I am used to. One day my wife had to retrieve it for me and seeing it in her hand it was a thing of unmatched beauty. I wonder if that's what people see when it's on my arm, but I will never know because they don't say.
He can still wear the watch just does not to use it daily for work.
I don't understand these negative comments, everything's clear and I could completely agree with this guy
Dude the Reps are getting so good now most of the rollys you see now days are Reps🤣🤣🤣🤣
All good reasons. I have a sub myself and I don't know why people consider it a beater/everyday watch. The ceramic is so flashy along with the polishing in the few places that the new models have. It screams luxury.
Ur poor
if you fear your watch so much it means you can't afford it and should probably sell it
I totally disagree with you. If you were true to yourself you truly wouldn’t care what anyone thinks about you. Obviously you care way too much what others think about you. Dude, life’s too short to concern yourself about ANY of the things that you brought up. Just wear the damn thing if you love it and just enjoy it.

That’s why I bought a Lorier Neptune, it’s a watch I can wear everyday without having to worry about it a whole lot, with enough quality I can also pass down to my kids (hopefully), if one day I do own a Rolex, I don’t even think that’s the one my kids would want, just sitting at the house, your boy wants the watch dad wore everyday

If you go to Kirgiztan or whatever remote place, and ask a random farmer to mention a good watchbrand, 99% will say Rolex. That is because of brand recognition and hopefully proves my point to you. And there is nothing cheap about a Rolex (I guess you´ve never seen one in real life though), on the contrary, it is one of the most well made mechanical watches out there, and the ownership is a breeze compared to Vacheron or AP, where you have to wait 6 month during every service, and the intervals are often tighter than at Rolex.

Lots of good points. Some don’t get that in some places of work and environments a Rolex just isn’t the watch for the job. Discretion can be key. For instance, If you’re talking to a customer that’s struggling to make payments despite what many think he WILL notice your Rolex and you’ve just made your job a bit harder.
And If you’re working with high end clients like in real estate. A basic Rolex can reassure you’re at least somewhat professional.
This is so true. It's too loud and flashy.
If your boss is only wearing a Tissot or Omega, it's embarrassing that you're wearing Rolex. But if you're the boss of your company, then feel free to wear it, as it will help to show the economic strength of your company and your ability.
It's also risky to wear Rolex, especially in some parts of New York, London, and Paris, as you might be robbed, and it will put you in a dangerous situation.
It's funny how our watch journey is similar...but reversed. I used to own three Rolex watches, bought in the 70s and 80s. But the prices got STUPID - so I sold them, bought three Steinharts, and put $50,000 in the bank. I loved 'em, but I love the Steinharts just as much. Not to mention the money in the bank.
You worked hard, you saved your money, and bought a Submariner. Wear it and be proud of your accomplishment Serge.
This guy is just trying to show off. So, I’m assuming you buy your suits and shoes from the thrift store?
Noooo he couldn’t be seen wearing suits to work! What would the clients think. Didn’t you know, someone got fired for wearing clothes to work. Too flash for clients, they’ll think you have too much money. It’s old newspapers and potato sacks only, otherwise clients would be thinking you’re spending their money on foolish things. It’s just how it’s done in the big financial cities… I’ve never seen anyone in NY or London wear anything expensive ever. In fact if you go to the city of London you would think it’s just one big homeless colony.
Rolex has ‘become’ a luxury brand!?! It has always been a luxury brand. I worked hard to buy my Rolex and I’m a watch enthusiast and I’ll wear it everyday if I want. It’s like saying I don’t cross the road everyday in case I get hit by a truck....nonsense!🙄
I just told my boss I didn't touch my bonus for a few years. End of story. I've since helped him source a new Breitling and have become the watch guy. You never know what common ground you're going to find with people. Unless there are established politics in your office, which I've seen in the past, wear what you're going to wear with confidence. Parking your rented BMW's down the street is ridiculous.
Hi Serge, I couldn't agree more with your comments but the biggest factor for me would be safety when wearing such a watch unfortunately life is very cheap and to get hurt or even killed over a watch you have to ask yourself is it worth it. That is why I wouldn't intertain wearing a Rolex.
Tell ya what! I’ll take that sub right off yer hands so you don’t have to worry about any of this at all! I’ll wear it to everything, everywhere, all at once!
Your comments are well thought out and presented that way. Another good thing about Rolex wristwatches are that you don't have to wear them everyday. They are perhaps the only mechanical watch that you can put up for a few YEARS, fire back up and they will be of the same daily rate accuracy as before, or VERY close to it. Enjoy your Submariner in any way you prefer.
I agree with the second and the third reasons.
I wear my Rolex at work sometimes,
but whenever there is a meeting where someone sit just next to me,
I wear a cheaper watch.
I do hope I can wear a Rolex everyday,
but it is just not appropriate for the time being.
Why are you worried if you’re perceived as richer? What’s the worse than can happen?
@@redsea1234 Good question.

Rolex is a symbol of success, wealth, or high social status. Since I don’t belong to these categories, wearing a Rolex may give some colleagues an impression of spending money irrationally. This is another adverse effect.
I own both Rolex and Omega. Both are very accurate. I like the Rolex better, but when I wear the Omega I don’t need to worry about anything since the Omega draws less attention.
I agree with you,I wish I did not but this is Rolexes doing not ours. I was going to wear my Rolex Milgauss for the weekend . then I thought my Hamilton Khaki King has the date and the day function which I really like, its a Swiss made watch for under $500 US so which watch do I really like and want to wear, the Hamilton won out over the Rolex . I will be going back to a 34MM Rolex Air King , still a Rolex ,but I won't have too much tied up in the watch.
Me too man. I love my Hammys.
I have to disagree with the video. But wear what you like I guess
I agree.. I like wearing under the radar watch geek watches that are expensive but don’t look expensive to the masses
Not sure how you are keeping your professional life private if you are doing these videos? Just saying.
Also this is not an 18k watch, in the grand scheme of things it's very much an entry level luxury watch. I really wouldn't worry much. Live you life sir.
Depends locally, trust me Sir, there is whole a lot of places where 100 USD is fortune. Same goes to the people who may hurt your invincibility - for the watch. If you argue "then dont go to such places" - I would say "its just a diver", because the pricewise the amount of the money spent on these in your world is marginal
isn' t it. There is many people having sub yet diving with Seikos.
Submariner is a tool watch, you've got to wear it anywhere, anytime. It's not a hundred thousand dollar watch... Use it! Nobody notices it. You're thoughts may not be true to what really is happening now. As others said, life is short... enjoy what you have.
Man wear it everyday don't let the Rolex hype play you
Authorized dealers can sell the Rolexes higher than MSRP to grey market re-sellers that results in the waiting list.
Most people don’t know watches. They have no idea what’s on your wrist dude. Wear the watch, enjoy it!
I love my Rolex sub and don't give a shit about what people think 😀
What kind of clock did you choose to use it every day?
+Corrado Peres Clock??? 🤣
Sorry Watch.... 😂
Ridiculous. Wear it or sell it. This guy thinks way too much.
I agree with you on everything. I have certain watches I would not wear to work for the same reasons you stated.
My bosses do not wear nice watches but they make more money than I do and how does it look if I ask for a raise with an Omega on my wrist- does not matter that it was a gift all that matters are the optics.
If I go to a BBQ with a group of friends that may not be making a lot of money I wear a different watch because there is no need to exhibit my pricey watch- its a freakin BBQ so when in Rome. Now if my wealthy friends invite me to their BBQ then I would wear a nice timepiece as an Omega to them is just a standard watch( very nice but standard)
In certain countries I leave my expensive watches home because I am just asking for it if I take them with me.
We may think only watch geeks notice our watches but that is not so- people notice quality and even if say they do not know what a Tudor bay is they see the quality and take notice.
If you want to be that guy/girl who just wants to be noticed regardless of any ones thoughts then by all means be that person, but do not complain when you get a negative reaction.
Life is indeed short and we have to enjoy the finer things in our lives, but at what expense ?
I could care less what anyone things about me wearing my sub. If anyone asks I say it is a submariner five watch. I don’t hit them with the brand... only if they ask me if it’s a Rolex do I say yes. I love mine.
