Can't imagine the hours of time in designing, planning, building, painting, weathering, and having it all come together in this fantastic fine running layout. Thank You for taking the time to film and post it on You Tube for all to enjoy, and I DID!!!.
Mr. Vic Smith, this layout is a masterpiece! You got so many things right: scenery, details, the look and feel of a real city, the advertisement and signs on the buildings, background, the sky and clouds. This layout is awesome anyway you look at it! We should all strive to be this good. Great work!
All time greatest layout I have ever seen, being a native NYer there are so many locations this layout has taken me from the early streets of Brooklyn(ridgewood) to midtown Manhattan west side(NYC) thank you for sharing this,I find no word to discribe this,It even by passes of the word EXCELLENT,right down to the A/C conducts, truly a Master at hand that you are ,All the best to you and yours
Wow!!! Can't quite find the words!! The buildings alone are worth high merit, but the whole city is just amazing - in both layout and execution! Well done!!!
There are no words I canuse to describe this layout! By far one of the best I have ever seen. This is unreal! I model N scale and intend on building my next layout based on city scenery. I could talk about this layout for days, this is unreal.
Wow! This layout was shown in Model Railroader magazine several times! This is BY FAR one of the most highly detailed and realistic cityscape layouts I've ever seen!
No Rex, you got it all wrong....from this point forward, the City Edge Layout as depicted in this video will be called SMITHTOWN! Wow, Rex and Vic, what a great realistic layout and upload. Award winning to say the least. Time, effort, and sweat to name a few of your attributes. Both of you are to be commended for your professional work. Thanks.
This is absolutely incredible. I being a novice feel like im not even worthy of complementing you on your work of art. I can not even imagine the detail and effort and pure love that went into this. Also this is coming from someone who rarely even comments on any RUclips video.
This sound is music to my soul...i grew up near a train station and would stay up late at night just to hear the horns. Then got the courage enough to leave and see the view up close and how exiting it was to just leap and grab on to those metal bars and ride the train to where ever it stopped..
Robert WOW thats the best layout ever. It reminds me of the rodé from Grand central station NY To CT back in the 70s of Harlem and the Bronxs. Best job yet on realism. I saw so many things that no one else has posted. Like the parking meters and motorcycles and much more. The only thing I dont get os the railyard going down the middle of the street. I sure hope you post more and thanks for the best 9minutes of my day.
This is by far one of my favorite layouts on youtube. I would love to visit it some day. Its funny because UP is going past my house as I'm watching it so I hear the horn from the video and in real life.
I really enjoy urban scenry on model railroads like this. This layout reminds me of the Franklin & South Manchester which is another of my favorite layouts.
What an amazing .layout Rex, your city landscape of all types of buildings, the hot dog van are simp,y first class and a credit to you. As are the locos with amazingly loud horns and the flat tyres on some of trucks. Thanks for sharing this one. Best wishes from Ken in Scotland UK.
Great use of sound and deep focus. It almost looks like you are utilizing hard lenses. Things you expect to be in focus in real life are in focus. The sound mix doesn't have to be synchronous, the brain tries to make sense of it all. Your camera movements are smooth. Excellent production values through and through.
hey vic how are you, i have seen alot of layouts on you tube and in person but i must tell you and this is coming from someone not easily impressed, you have taken model railroading to a different level, your scenery and detail is off the charts, a true work of art you should be very proud and thanks for sharing this true work of art
absolutely beautiful. the "L" (elevated track) is my favorite part. i grew up in chicago and this is exactly the kind of HO scale layout i dream of....wow!
This is really great! I like how the scenery shows realism and how you have the trains in the back and in the front. Looks like it took a lot of planning and work.
NOTHING EXCESSIVE ABOUT THE HORN NOISES loloops too loud expression.. seriously very impressed I would LOVE to see it in person, some details as to how long it took, how much thought was placed on it, I noticed the A-team van on the streets so I wonder if there is trouble among the building tenants lol, mirrors certainly added the depth of the streets, awesome engineer's tan line (as in farmer john tan from us truckers arm out the window), but mostly its the sync of when and how much train sounds are applied, I LOVE IT -just in case you couldn't hear my words lol, Vic its truly a work of art and passion, after 4 years I am soo fond of it remaining in my top 3 video collection you have no idea how much the video and sync of the sounds means to me, here's to another 4 or more years? !!
Thanks.Very great layout.Sooo realistic, especially with the low hanging scenic clouds and lighting. Could be used as a movie picture fill in scene. Kind of reminds me of sections of NYC. Great sounds, and camera work by you too.Mmmmmmmm
AWESOME JOB!!!!! I really enjoyed the sounds. Also i noticed the A-Team van parked and the Smokey and the Bandit car getting fuel. Keep up the good work.

Wonderful attention to scale, proportion, and details. Coloring is spot-on. One of my favorite layouts of all time!
Unbelievable. I coulda swore I saw the people walking. Nice job
My biggest gripe about most model railroads is that they don't even paint the buildings. Love this cityscape. Kudos.
THE most interesting track layout I've ever seen. This is a very, very uncommon scene and the details are extraordinary.

The lighting is just right for this scene.
