And I was back slidden because I hadn't begun in a certain way and then turned back to a certain lifestyle, certain attitude, certain mind." 📌1st sign. Justification. Jeremiah 3:11 ✍️ "Im doing this because of that, and because of that this is okay. Even though I know its not. Even though I know this is wrong, somehow in my mind I'm justifying my actions." ✍️ Justification is always connected to comparison. ✍️ "atleast Im not this. atleast Im not that" ✍️ Israel compared themselves to Judah. ✍️ Whatever it was they're doing, they were justifying their right, their cause against whatever Judah was doing. ✍️ We have justfied many things, because of something else. ✍️ "This happened to me so this is justified." "They did this so this is justified." "Im young so this is justified." ✍️ Do not let justification sneak into your mind and start justifying what you're doing, how you're doing, who you're doing it with, where you're going, what you're saying, how you're living because of whatever somebody else may be doing. ✍️ Be careful. None of us are above the other. 📌2nd sign Holding on to deceit. Jeremiah 8:5 ✍️ God was angry with Israel because they continue to hold on to what they knew was lie. ✍️ They knew it was deceitful but they refuse to let it go because for some reason it made them feel good or however they felt, but they were literally digging their own graves because they were holding on to deceit and because they refused to let deceit go, they held onto deceit and they were perpetually backsliding,- like a vicious cycle of backsliding. They have slidden back and they continue to slide back and they are perpetually backsliding because they hold fast to deceit. ✍️ "The lie gave me some kind of comfort." "The lie gave me my justification." But I knew in my mind this is made-up, but for me to hold onto it felt good. That comfort of deceit will send you to hell. ✍️ The deceit gives you the justification you're looking for. ✍️ There's a false belief that many of us know its false, we know that the belief is false, but we leave it in there just in case we needed something to go back to. ✍️ We leave the deceit in there because if we needed something to fall back on, we have it. We hold onto it. And if we continue to hold onto it, we will perpetually backslide. ✍️ Until you let that go you will be living in a constant state of backsliding. 📌 3rd sign No prayer life Zephaniah 1:6 "God where are you in this?" ✍️ When I walk in this new job, before I take the job, I say God where are you in this? Or you aint in this? When I walk in this new relationship before I get involved right now and I put somebody's name in my phone, I say Lord are you in this? Or you aint in this? ✍️ Without prayer life, have you asked God anything? You asked everyone else but with God, you asked nothing. ✍️ This is a sign of backsliding, when you begin to stop talking to God. ✍️ Did you inquire for the Lord? These that have not sought my face. These that have not sought my hand. These that have not inquired for the Lord. These are the ones that are constantly turning back. These that have turned back from me are the ones who quit talking to me. ✍️ You know you're backsliding when its hard for you to pray. ✍️ Speak to the Lord. 📌 4th sign Refusal to exalt. Hosea 11:7 ✍️ Exaltation means lifting up to the highest place. Though they call on me but they wont lift me. ✍️ You keep showing up but you wont exalt me in the highest place in your life. ✍️ Refusal to put God in His proper place which is above all. ✍️ God is already above all. The only way that He stops becoming above all is when you intentionally put something above Him. ✍️ For me to exalt Him is more than just me praising Him, this is more than just about worshipping. When you get to a place where you can't worship God then maybe that's a sign you are backsliding. ✍️ But for me to exalt God as more than just a praise or worship, I have to go to high places and tear down the things that have been exalted above Him. I exalt Him not just by lifting Him higher, but by tearing things down that I've put up. Everything will fall under God. ✍️ It'll be God first and everything else underneath Him. 📌 5th sign Desire to go back. Luke 9:62 The children of Israel. ✍️ This is what happens to people when they come into the church and they are delivered, they're set free, they're saved, they're redeemed, they're sanctified and when trouble comes into their life they have a desire to go back. ✍️ God said anybody who would do that, that person is not fit for the kingdom of God. ✍️ The children of Israel always had the desire to go back even before they cross over Jordan, they were still talking about Eypt. ✍️ Sometimes we forget how bad it was before God. How rough it was before God. A lot of times that the stuff we go through is just life. It was coming whether you are saved or not. You're going to have trouble whether you're in church or not. Life's gonna happen but when those frustrations come in doesnt make me go "You know what, I quit. Im out of here. Im not a christian anymore" We see it happen all the time, people backslide because of frustrations and they begin to think of the great things in the past before God. ✍️ There was nothing good back there. The reward that they were going to give you was death. That was your reward. They were gonna work you to death. Do you know why they fed you so good? Because you were a workhorse for them. Thats what you were. Because the enemy fed you well so he can keep you well. ✍️ Guess what your reward was? Because the wages of sin has always been death. 📌6th sign Hypocritical Matthew 15:8 ✍️ There is no more bigger hypocrites in this world than the world itself. ✍️ One of the signs of becoming hypocritical is that I saved one thing in my mouth but I believe another thing in my heart. Being a hypocrite is more than just doing two things, its saying one thing but believing another thing. 📌7th sign Self-centered Proverbs 14:14 ✍️ The backslider is filled with his own ways, his own desires. "I am my own compass" ✍️ If the word of God goes against culture, the word is right. If the word of God goes against the world, the word is right. If the word of God goes against science, the word is right. ✍️ But when you start saying "I am my own compass." "Im gonna do my own thing." Narcissism. "Its about me." "About what I want." "I wanted to do this." "I thought it would be fun." You are on your way to being backslidden. ✍️ The word of God is so sharp that it goes against me and what I want but I go to the word more than I go to myself. That word isn't going to line up with what you want, its always gonna be counter-culture, counter-flesh, counter-carnality, and it will put you in a situation where you have to make a decision and there is no gray areas. We see it happen all the time, people backslide because of frustrations and they begin to think of the great things in the past before God.
✍️ There was nothing good back there. The reward that they were going to give you was death.
That was your reward.
They were gonna work you to death.
Do you know why they fed you so good? Because you were a workhorse for them.

Because the enemy fed you well so he can keep you well.
