Justine I don’t think you realise just how inspirational you are to us older ladies you are so hard working and dedicated and just look at where you are with Brody, that’s all you! I totally get that being last stings but like you said some one has to but it was only because you lost marks with him being so fresh it’s all learning, chin up you are such a strong lady and we love watching your journey thank you for sharing it with us but please just remember you are amazing so keep doing you 😁 💪 hope you feel better soon xx
Don’t beat yourself up Justine it was just one of those days . Just remember the old saying “Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery & today is a gift “ Brodie is looking fabulous a real credit to you in fact you both are looking pretty good , a pair of Eventers ❤
Vertigo is the most mind blowing thing - I’ve had it a couple of times as a result of a low-lying virus I didn’t know I had. I’m so glad for you that you didn’t get to go forward in the event as it’s much better for you and Brody that you were firmly grounded. Looking forward to seeing your partnership develop next year. I’m a gardener and that’s a common refrain on gardening channels “well, there’s always next year’! Excited to see your posts on the hunting season!
I thought you Brits were masters of understatement! Disastrous would be a broken leg for Brody. A disappointing dressage test and rider illness, while sad, is not disastrous. You still have your incredible horse, and have regained health. Please look back over your entire season and how well you guys did and advanced up levels. Your viewers are supporting you and cheering you on, and we’ve all had our share of disappointment and shitty days. Have fun hunting and blog as you wish.❤️
Wow do you clean up good!! Your hair is fabulous!! Really brings out your beautiful eyes! Brody looks amazing!! Such the blossoming 5* horse in the making. You would have had such a good XC. I am so sorry you were having health issues. That is definitely no fun with such a busy life. Get better soon so we can see you fly round at an event soon!❤

I think how you felt was so so valid. Sometimes things just suck : / But like you said, it's all done now and you have other things coming up and next season to look forward to. You are absolutely NOT too old to be at any event. I think you are SO COOL, and hope that I will be half as disciplined and tenacious as you when I'm "older". The sport needs incredible role models like you, in my opinion. You and Brody looked so gorgeous, and I have to agree he did not deserve to be last. Looking forward to your next videos! ❤️
You are doing a great job and are an inspiration . As a senior rider myself it takes so much courage and determination to keep going against all the aches and pains that try and defeat our best efforts. I love the videos - vicariously enjoying the highs and commiserating over the lows. Thanks for persisting. All your years of knowledge and experience and good humor are what It’s all about. Brava!
Oh what a shame, if Brody had been unwell you would have withdrawn him, if you had run and felt unwell and misjudged a fence you wouldn't have forgiven yourself, you are certainly talented enough for this level, please don't doubt yourself, listen to Charlie, if he had any doubt he would certainly tell you 😂, there is a new season just round the corner, enjoy your hunting and come out bright eyed and bushy tailed, 🎉😂xx
As soon as you notice you’re giving your self a hard time, if you go straight into gratitude mode, of which you have so much to be grateful for, you’ll stop your mind giving you such a hard time undeservingly. As soon as you catch the “I’m not good enough” “what am I doing” doubt mode, just start saying your “I’m gratefuls” turns the whole thought pattern around.. I’m grateful for my goats, cutest turkeys, best family, lush ski trips etc…… until your brain goes back to task mode or a better thought mode. Works for me anyway.. you are fab, have a great hunting season.
Sound advice Ruth. I do the same - due to substantial health issues, I am thankful for the smaller things: a great cup of tea with a Rington's biscuit (other biscuits are available 😂); a good friend visiting (if I am well enough); a good film. Gotta love Charlie! Sounds like my family! I am so sorry, but things do happen and 2025 is a new year! I wish you all could have ridden this as I feel you two would have killed it, but better to be safe!!!! Can’t wait to watch you train this winter and come out ready to roll next year💕. I do have to ask, what breed is that little toast, such a cutie! Glad you are feeling better!!!
Sorry it wasn't the end to the season you was wanting but don't beat yourself up. Vertigo is horrible, I know how you felt 😔. Keep doing what you do 💪 I'm nearly 61 and it's so hard when your body doesn't do what it used to. You are an inspiration and a tough cookie, I know you'll bounce back 💜
I'm disappointed you didn't do the cross country but considering how sick you were it would have been dangerous. We all have a big 'downer day' now and then and it's okay to feel defeated... but not for too long! I still enjoyed this video and seeing Brody and some of your other critters having their best life. I look forward to future videos.
So sorry you felt so down about it all Justine but can totally relate, as I’ve got older I’ve lost a lot of confidence and self belief. Completely understand that it wasn’t the end to the season you wanted but the only way is up and I know you’ll come out all guns blazing next season!! I just had to say how amazing Brody looked though…..I think Jess said he looked like a proper event horse and he did too!! He looked super fit and ready and you looked super smart in your new hat and tails! Looking forward to the next vlog already and you and Brody smashing it next season!! Can you tell I’m a big fan of you both ! lol!! Xx
Bless you, Justine. Firstly, you looked so glamorous with your haircut. Your hair is fabulous. Secondly, Brody looks awesome - wow👏👏👏 Thirdly, I am gutted for you that things didn't pan out at the Event. Brody looked spectacular. Vertigo is ghastly. Fourthly - your poor hand - I did love the gaffer tape - you are so down to earth, but it looked incredibly painful😢. Finally - you are such an inspiration. You must have worked so very hard to get where you are. I guess you have helped so many equestrians along the way - Lucy is one I have seen. 2025 offers you & Brody a fantastic opportunity of showing us all exactly what you can achieve together. Please be kind to yourself. Can't wait to see your vlogs - your 'menagerie' is glorious & always makes me smile❤
Justine, you are so inspirational to us 'slightly' more mature riders (I am 56 😱) please do not beat yourself up, you have done so amazingly well this season, Brody has come on leaps and bounds, he is still young and excited about his job, which is brilliant. Keep your chin up and thank you for posting this, I have had a 'testing' year, it is so difficult to keep positive, but lets keep the flag flying and prove that riders who are perhaps not as young as we once were can do this. Love the videos of your animals and the hunt too, please keep posting and take care❤
I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VLOGS. Even though i dont live in England anymore....having my tea and watching you makes me feel like im home!! At almost 54 yrs old now....feeling insired to coninue this wonderful crazy equestrian lifestyle can be challenging. You make me feel inspired to coninue to do what I love!! Thank you xx
Despite the set back Justine you are beyond fortunate to have your Billy Brody and compete at this high level. Dressage is a hit and miss depending, I think, more on the horse's mood and effort as the rider's on the day, Judges just stick to analyzing movements not tolerating moods so can get ruthless . Quite a dramatic video including the serious symptoms you dealt with ! Glad you are better and rode again soon after.
I think you did great considering you were sick and he had a fright, plus it was his first 2*, right?! Well done. Also, I think he looks a LOT more lively in his gaits!!!! Loved it.
So pleased to see you had posted a video, as i was getting a bit worried by your absence. You and Brody are an incredible team and he is one handsome boy. Never mind about your last event, onwards and upwards. I love watching your horses, goats and those precious turkeys and of course you, just doing you. Look after yourself, that finger looked painful.
A rough patch, but opportunities ahead for you. I hope you are feeling much better now and all healed. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Brody, your cute animals, and your riding experiences.
A very unlucky set of circumstances, especially the blooming finger at the end. Ouch. Brody looked Amazing, am sure next season will be a blast with him. Thankyou Justine for this vlog, ups and downs eh!
Such a shame your blip had to happen right at the end of the season but you will come out stronger next year I just know it. Brody is gaining experience with your guiding hand and great things will happen.
You are a very inspirational person and love all your vlogs and you are a genuine horse person. Next year is looking good a winter of building core strength, your lesson with Simon gave Brody some confidence in drops into water.
I believe Brodie felt you were off on dressage day. You looked stunning in your shad belly and new helmet!! So sorry you had vertigo-that is the worst! You and Brodie are amazing when you are both feeling well .
So sorry u were poorly justice I hope there's no recurrence but at least it's the end of the eventing season. On another note I have to say u looked very smart in ur dressage gear on brody, I hope u manage to enjoy blood hound season x
Thoroughly enjoyed the vlog. Shame about Osbertson and then the broken finger, but the cerise coat at the trot-up was a triumph! Here's to a successful 2025.
Such a shame to end the season that way but you've got so much to look back on and be positive about. We love your vlogs and really looking forward to seeing hunting ones this winter 😊
I just wanted to give you a hug! it was a sad end to a brilliant season. To be honest you should have just said I don't want to revisit this for the vlog so I'm not going to. Take my hat off to you for doing so and being so bloody honest, but anyone who knows you also knows that. 2025 onwardsx
Yay, it’s a JWe vlog!! I love these so much, just seeing what you’re up to, how the farm is, and then getting to watch you kick ass out there. I’m sorry that your inner ear let you down, but I’m so glad it happened before you were on a horse. Rest up and heal because you’re going to have a wonderful hunting season and continue to inspire all of us with everything you do. ❤
I think you are fantastic Justine. Brody looked amazing in the warm up for the dressage. Never saw him move as nicely before. Really unlucky with the noise just before the start of your dressage test. If you had been able to go cross country and show jumping you would have climbed a mile up the leader board as you and Brody can jump anything. Roll on next season you and Brody will be amazing.
I know you were terribly disappointed. But on the positive side, Brody was fine and next season is another year. I enjoy your videos and I am really glad that you leave the bad in with the good so people can see what eventing is really like. He is a lovely horse and I know you’re so proud of him as well you should be. 😊🎉❤❤
Justine, you made SO much progress this season. I understand you not feeling that way at times, especially with how the season ended for you and Brody. I recently HAD to have a revision done to a prior spinal surgery because I was slowly losing the ability to stand/walk unassisted, and this surgery just fell into being scheduled during the beginning of me getting the strength I needed back to get on my boy. So here I am, on bedrest again, and I won't safely be back behind his ears until spring unless I can tolerate a short hack maybe after Christmas. It's all so frustrating, but aren't we just the luckiest to get to own and love these silly creatures? I for one am thrilled and excited to see you continue to grow as a rider and upper level eventer. You are inspiring, and definitely not too old for this sport if your heart still wants it. 💜
@@justinewardeventing Thank you! Healing is slow and quite painful currently, but I'm thankful for what I have while I have it. Just ride all of your wonderful ponies extra for me. 😉
That’s such a shame to end the season in that way. But so many improvements throughout the season and next year to look forwards to and work towards. Have a great winter with the bloodhounds and thank you for your honesty, you didn’t have to post this…. But you did. I appreciate that 😊
It’s been a good season despite the end - you’ve done a lovely job with him and there’s loads to look forward to for your partnership. It’s a watchable honest vlog and it has loads of highlights - I hope the turkeys are safe in this looming Turkey doom season! Lots to build on for next season - hope the hand heals as that looks painful as hell!
Don't knock yourself. Just lift your hands, look up and ride on!!!! Least you stayed in the arena and stayed on. I got an anonymous mention in Horse and Hound once because my show horse deposited the ride judge at a big show, so at least it wasn't as embarrassing as that! :)
I'm so sorry for all the bits of bad luck that converged upon you at Osberton. As you said, Brody warmed up well and you were ready and capable, but you know, horses be horses sometimes. Thats all it was, bad luck at the worst possible time. He's blooming, as a pair you're always improving, I can't wait to follow along next year. You continue to be my favorite vlogger, and dang that's a nice looking helmet!
Just wanted to let you know, you have inspired me to ride in my 50's. I love watching you and your 'stunning handsome boy' P.s Love the new hair. Sally
What a shame. I'm sorry you felt ill, but also sorry that the dressage result hit you as it did as you've been working hard and doing so well. I hope you feel better about it now. Onward and upwards xxx
I love your videos, you are so brave I have lost all confidence with my boy and don’t even canter anymore, I used to be an affiliated show jumper. I wish I had the confidence to do more. You are still going out there and if you are having a bad day it’s just one experience. Keep being you 💖 next year you will be flying, Brody looks amazing
I'm very glad you did post this, not just for the viewers' edification, but as part of your own healing. Sadly, just so many negative things happened in quick succession, but I know you are strong of mind and body, and have moved on. There are SO many folks sending love and support. Next season is going to be awesome! Brody looked even better.....if that is possible......he just had a moment! Horses!....don't we just love them. ❤
Bless you Justine. Listen to Charlie…… but totally understand your feeling low if you weren’t on form. BPPV is a very uncomfortable condition and definitely not a condition to ride cross country with 😱. But please don’t allow one crap day pull you down. Carry on enjoying riding your beautiful Brody. There is always another event. ❤
Ahhhh💕💕💕💕💕 so much love to you and BB - I’ve had that inner ear thing after swimming and it’s no joke. Everybody gets ill and everyone has an electric horse that is tense and not listening but you looked no.1 especially in that fancy new hat 😍😍😍😍 . I know how you feel about being embarrassed , I am the same after a poor race performance well below my capabilities , but no one else cares so smile because you’re fabulous 😍💕🐎😍💕🐎😍💕🐎😍💕🐎🐎
I am so sorry Justine, what a shame! Vestibular problems are not fun ( I am a physiotherapist and perform the Epley on patients as needed). Hope you are feeling better now, and you are definitely NOT too old ❤❤❤
Loved the vlog, even if it wasn't your "day" at the competition. Especially loved the bit of you wandering around with Super Groom saying "hay nets!" - just showing the real life of it all. Love that pink coat - you should wear that more - really suits you! For the rest, well, you are an inspiration regardless if you're top or bottom. Keep having fun and filming for us out here. (And I definitely think you deserve a G&T after all of that nonsense!). Thanks for everything!
I agree with what so many have already said here. You're fun, real and awesome. That's why we're all following you! I'd personally love to be one of your students and be part of your life. It's so full!Rightfully acknowledge the disappointment but "crack on" as you say.😉 What would have been a real downer is if you'd had a 22 in dressage! Looking forward to your next vlog.❤
Vertigo is horrible, had it a couple of times, what with that and the broken knuckle, feeling poorly, and broken little finger - not surprised you've felt down! Absolutely no need to apologise. I aways enjoy your vlogs so take care, get fully recovered, and thank you for being such a real and lovely human.
So sorry you season ended like that! So frustrating!!! 😢😢 Easy to see why you feel guttered!!! But, Brody is still the most beautiful and talented horse!!! Looking better than ever!!! ❤❤ ...... and no, your not to old!!! ❤❤ Use the winter to build yourself up for next year!!! Might be your best season yet?? 😅😅 Love your vlogs!!!
A real shame about your setbacks. But it made for a good video. No consolation I know but you’ll both be back out there ready for action next year stronger than ever! 💪
Justine it was the spook ,no way can you ride with vertigo terrible condition I’ve had it ,it shakes you up mentally, mine comes and goes ,could have had a serious accident.Brody look stunning so did you ,onwards young lady be kind to yourself lovely lady look at the improvement in you both it’s astonishing.❤❤❤❤❤❤Well done 🎉🎉🎉🎉 xx.
oh Justine! I cant imagine how that felt, happening at such an important event! But I do get the dressage, and much the same, I pride myself on a half decent dressage, well I had my first last place after dressage this year too... it certainly brings up mixed emotions and we need to lean on our people. It's just another part of horses, you'll bounce back, you're such an inspiration, and I love to see how you go regardless. You both looked fabulous, and I can't wait to see what next season holds for you! ❤
These things can’t be helped. The blow up at the beginning is just bad luck, Whether the gel was responsible for some of his reaction or not. We spend so much time and effort getting there, getting ready and think we are prepared, it’s just soul destroying when things like this happen. I’ve had an inner ear infection and the vertigo is awful! I thought I’d had a stroke! Don’t be so hard on yourself you are indeed an inspiration to us! Especially us older ladies who aspire to be like you! I love the tape on the broken finger! Many times done the same! Nothing as tough as horse women!
So sorry to hear you have been in the wars. Sometimes you feel you l just cannot win but things always improve. Enjoy your new season, enjoy making progress on Brody and enjoy the festive season.
omw, that looks incredibly painful!!!! Try to look at things this way - your opening meet will be spectacular in comparison and will boost your future events! Hang in there and be good to yourself, you deserve it!
Yeah I stand with Charlie on this Justine, you had an off day on a major step up in class and yes it's disappointing, but it has to happen on your way up' I get you 100%, my mum always said to me, when I was upset if my dogs got binned, you can't win them all Kerry. We put too much pressure on ourselves and then let ourselves down, in our head, no one else feels let down. We are just disappointed for you because we know how hard you work and how amazing your horse is. Anyway just looking at Brody you can see he's still very much maturing and he's looking so much tighter and fitter. I've been checking his dad out for my mare and can see where your boy gets his huge jump and lovely shape from! As for YOU! You are amazing and not too old, you've been poorly, I had some virus that month, it affected my MH and I had no energy for weeks and just slept. I was ill when I saw you had withdrawn, so I went back to bed. Just look how fit you've got yourself, you're an inspiration,💌 Justine, I look forward to your Shenanigans next season 🥊💌hey at least you're not missing a fence cross country like your student 😅when you're up at the top after dressage. She's a good girl, and she laughs at herself, I love you both and think you will both win loads next year.
You’re such an inspiration Justine! Love your content, just one blip I’m sure you can reach the top again! ! Looking forward to seeing you at Badminton and Burghley
I hope you are doing well now. You have an amazing personality, you are an inspiration to many people 🙂! We wish you strenght and good health. Keep doing what you do! Greetings from southern Poland!
I wanted to reach out to you because I am almost 56 and just started riding again after not being on a horse for 24 years! I owned my own when I was younger did some shows and competitive trail rides. Your videos inspire me to keep riding although I've only been to lessons once, but plan to do some more. It's really way different riding now v.s. 31 years old lol. I'm sorry that you fell ill during this competition. I just think it's amazing that you continue to do competitions. You inspire me, thank you! ☮️♥️
Love your vids and your honesty, you’re so inspiring to us eventers! All the farm animals are hilarious 😂 Keep up the vids in the new eventing year ❤ best of luck to you.
Oh bless you. He was just spicy in that arena and we all have days where it’s yahooo. And you weren’t going to run anyway with your vital thing. So early bath for you both. You’ve had a great season. Here’s to the next.
Bugger about your season ending the way it did, fingers crossed for better luck next season and you're feeling better soon. Also, love the bubble wrap suit, you were literally wrapped in bubble wrap!!! All you needed was the cotton wool!!!
It's entirely possible that you were starting to become ill even prior to the dressage. My heart ached for you. I'm sixty and although I don't go eventing, I do have a big, feisty horse. You are not too old. Plus, I have read that when you get older, a little bit of extra padding is good for your health.
Oh what rotten luck you had. Thanks for sharing as it really does sum up the highs and lows we face as crazy equestrians 😅 Looking forward to finding out more about your beautiful horses 🥰
Bless you Justine! I hope you're feeling better now? I love your vlogs and admire your strength and determination, as well as your equestrianism and guts! Please don't be too hard on yourself, everyone has days where things just don't go to plan! There was nothing you could have done about how the day turned out and the best thing is that both you and Brody can do it all again next year, which I'm so looking forward to! All the best with big hugs to you and Brody xx
Sorry it wasn't a great end to the season for you but that's horses and the sport take the highs and lows thank you for sharing. And you don't have much luck with your fingers and horse lol
Aww Justine Vertigo is horrible. Get to the GP and get some Prochlorperazine 5mg prescribed - if you haven’t already. I have intermittent attacks, fairly infrequently to be honest. Stress or turning myself upside down or illness usually sets it off. I just take those tablets with me wherever I go, I go months without using them but always have them just in case. They kick in within an hour and sort me out 😊
You are NOT too old! I can see why you were frustrated. You probably were not feeling your best on dressage. Vertigo is terrible for walking. Vertigo while going cross country? Nope nope nope. I really have a problem when arena cross country is directly behind dressage. I know these things happen but it seems so unfair that a crashing noise made Brody jump. Brodie? That is totally ok! I would have jumped too. Take care of yourself and stay off horses while you have vertigo you silly goose! I’m a nurse I know these things! Glad the medics kicked you too the curb for your own good. Thank you for sharing and next year will be fantastic!!
Sorry you had such a rough time Justine. I can totally sympathise, I get vertigo from time to time and it’s so debilitating. There’s next year, get rest, get well. Love, love Rodney and Pete (-: Marion ❤

Lots to love and work on Justine he’s still young so onwards and upwards. He looks bloody awesome! He’s a credit to you x
Thank you for posting a very honest vlog. You are a true inspiration.
Vertigo is horrid! I've had it twice and I never want it again
Thanks for the vlog
I think you did great considering you were sick and he had a fright, plus it was his first 2*, right?! Well done. Also, I think he looks a LOT more lively in his gaits!!!! Loved it.
You are still my inspiration. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
Brody is a proper dude...😊
Thank you 😘
Get well soon and hope the finger heals quick.
Love yr vlogs regardless but do hope u get well soon ❤
I hope it was a success and you are healing well x
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mallory🤗
@@justinewardeventing Thank you! Healing is slow and quite painful currently, but I'm thankful for what I have while I have it. Just ride all of your wonderful ponies extra for me. 😉
@@annejarvis7002 Thank you so much! 🧡
That’s such a shame to end the season in that way. But so many improvements throughout the season and next year to look forwards to and work towards.
Have a great winter with the bloodhounds and thank you for your honesty, you didn’t have to post this…. But you did. I appreciate that 😊
What a shame, Justine. Hope you have fully recovered. Here's to a wonderful 2025 season.🎉
Your are super - do not doubt yourself or, let’s face it, there is no bloody hope for the rest of us !! Love your vids .. thank you .
Just wanted to let you know, you have inspired me to ride in my 50's. I love watching you and your 'stunning handsome boy'
P.s Love the new hair.
Sally
@@Sally-jb3tt excellent news about the riding keep up the good work xx
Great vlog.
What a shame. I'm sorry you felt ill, but also sorry that the dressage result hit you as it did as you've been working hard and doing so well. I hope you feel better about it now. Onward and upwards xxx
Gutted for you having such a bummer ending to the season, but you have come so far already, and hunt season will def cheer you up
I love your videos, you are so brave I have lost all confidence with my boy and don’t even canter anymore, I used to be an affiliated show jumper. I wish I had the confidence to do more. You are still going out there and if you are having a bad day it’s just one experience. Keep being you 💖 next year you will be flying, Brody looks amazing
@@trudiclark7841 thank you xx
Rest and repair! X
Fabulous still photos pre trot-up....and then the gorgeous footage. Omg! Thanks Justine!
@@andreamurison7225 I think this is my favourite comment so far ❤️
I agree with what so many have already said here. You're fun, real and awesome. That's why we're all following you! I'd personally love to be one of your students and be part of your life. It's so full!Rightfully acknowledge the disappointment but "crack on" as you say.😉
What would have been a real downer is if you'd had a 22 in dressage!
Oh no! But you and Mr Brody are both going to be ready for next season! ❤❤❤
Wow greeting to you in Poland
I wanted to reach out to you because I am almost 56 and just started riding again after not being on a horse for 24 years! I owned my own when I was younger did some shows and competitive trail rides. Your videos inspire me to keep riding although I've only been to lessons once, but plan to do some more. It's really way different riding now v.s. 31 years old lol.
I'm sorry that you fell ill during this competition. I just think it's amazing that you continue to do competitions. You inspire me, thank you! ☮️♥️
@@yogaandmeditationwithcatherine oh that’s wonderful to hear keep it up xx
@justinewardeventing thank you!
Thanks for sharing as it really does sum up the highs and lows we face as crazy equestrians 😅
Looking forward to finding out more about your beautiful horses 🥰

I love your vlogs and admire your strength and determination, as well as your equestrianism and guts!
Please don't be too hard on yourself, everyone has days where things just don't go to plan!
There was nothing you could have done about how the day turned out and the best thing is that both you and Brody can do it all again next year, which I'm so looking forward to!

The only things that really matter are health and love , everything else is life, and not life-changing. Turkeys excluded of course 🦃
A sh*t day out for sure but it will make the next good day feel even better. Enjoy the hunting and onwards and upwards. ❤
