    Think about it though.
    If Kobe played for the Hornets, there would be no New Orleans Hornets. They moved to there because tickets sale were at rock bottom lows, with Kobe they would've never dropped.

      +TRAV beats and then they would've never had to temporarily relocate to Oklahoma City during Katrina, meaning the NBA would've never saw how bad OKC wanted a team, therefore the Supersonics would still be in Seattle too.

      Charlotte would have never chosen Kobe at the draft. During the 1996 draft, Charlotte agreed to trade whoever the lakers wanted drafted for some other players. Bryant as not the next top prospect so even if Charlotte kept the pick to themselves, they would have never drafted Kobe, the goat

      That’s actually a really cool thought. Not only do we get a consistent Hornets team, but we get a new expansion team - one that could’ve been New Orleans, sure, but now it’s in the NBA’s hands and I’d put my money on it being Louisville or more likely Kansas City. That means there’s no NOLA team, hence no OKC hornets, hence no knowledge that OKC is a viable market, hence the Sonics stay. Even if it did happen to be NOLA, the one season before Katrina wouldn’t be enough for them to want to return. We could see an NBA today with the Pelicans roster back in Charlotte, our current hornets disbanded, The Thunder back where they belong, and a team for Kansas City. Pretty incredible that one draft night trade changed that.

    None of this made sense. No ripple effect? Some of the trades you talked about was a direct cause of Kobe Bryant being a Laker, they wouldn't have happened if he was in Charlotte/Nola. And some trades you just created out of thin air. Then you say Ant Davis would be a Bobcat/Hornet because "somehow, someway." What?!

    • @TataShvaler
      @TataShvaler 7 лет назад +2

      Setsuna Seie Jerry West was creating capspace the whole time just to sign Shaq, that was the plan for the Lakers. Divac would have been traded to any other team with capspace if the Hornets declined.

      Agreed. Hornets as perennial contenders changes so many things, the draft lottery being one. While Korzemba can be a bit over the top sometimes, at least he takes everything into consideration and does a true simulation with the draft lottery etc. This has way too many holes and lack of explanation.

    There's a lot of loose ends in this theory, man. Shaq doesn't even go to LA if Kobe doesn't go. The only reason he went was Jerry West promised him that he and Kobe would be one of the greatest duos of all time. He was right ultimately. However, if Kobe doesn't go to LA, he probably stays in Orlando with Penny. I think there was a lot more that you could've done with this video, Nick. Also, that 1999-2000 Lakers team without Kobe doesn't even come close to beating that Pacers team. I expected more out of you with the amount of depth that this theory could have to it, but you kind of rushed this one. I usually love your content, but this one needs an extension or work of some sort. Once again, really enjoy the vids and keep it up.

    pretty sure coming off of a championship in '02, the hornets' cheap ass owner finds a way to come up with the cash for a new arena, and they stay in Charlotte the whole time. but hey, you never know.

    • @orthotech9758
      @orthotech9758 6 лет назад

      Speaking as a native Charlottean, you are 100% correct. He wanted tax payers to foot the bill for an uptown arena, and that just wasn't happening. It just so happened that in 2002 Bob Johnson was in the market for an NBA team and he was granted the Bobcats.

      You got 2 All-Star 7footers (or would be All-Star Bynum) plus a former defensive player of the year,plus Phil and Tex, and you call that average? T-Mac and A.I. didn't have that luxury.

      The NBA overrates those championships just because he did it without Shaq. But look at the line up. I even remember how good Ariza is before he headed to L.A. But still, Kobe is better than Lebron and Curry.

    • @persian1999
      @persian1999 8 лет назад

      +bart simpson Ariza was not that good yet. Ron was 6 years removed. Bynum was injured most of the time. Tex was gone. And he was in the west. A good roster, not average but not amazing.

    • @xaviervega468
      @xaviervega468 8 лет назад +2

      +bart simpson 100% correct. Charlotte's management sucked terribly at the time and never got much better. They would have never built a championship team around him.

      Scottie would have been good, but he wouldn't have had Jordan and Jackson to push him to greatness. It may have taken MJ longer to win a championship if he would have won one at all. I Could see Cleveland going to the finals in 92 and the Knicks in the finals in 93. Chicago may have beaten Detroit to play LA in 1991 and may have won that championship. Chicago wouldn't gone to play-offs in 93-94 or 94-95 in Jordan's absence.

      +LolmastersTrollCreepySpinpastas how would shaq destroy kobe 1 vs 1?!?! shaq cant shoot 3's and does poorly with freethrows. The only way shaq would win is if this was 1 on 1 where its winner's ball and kobe misses open jumpers which i highly doubt.

    • @urmenior
      @urmenior 8 лет назад +1

      +rr omi Post up games beat jumpers. Unless you steal the ball off Shaq before he gets 2-3 feet inside the three-point line, it's over. He'd lift both Jordan and Kobe on each shoulder and destroy them. Haha, I'm exaggerating of course but size matters. In his prime, he was quick and had decent handles for his size, very hard to stop. That doesn't mean Shaq is better. A SG does different things essential for the team, the sum of parts always brings about different results than the comparison of isolated parts. I'm just saying a cheetah can't compete with a lion one on one, even though a lion needs a pack to hunt and a cheetah is better at hunting on his own. Kobe or Jordan might have stood a chance on a good shooting day, but our basketball taste is so oriented towards the SG position that we can't even comprehend a Shaq win.

    Hey, Nick, excellent videos, pal! Love them! I really admire your enthusiasm, knowledge and the way you explain everything. You are a good example of how explaining something well without bragging. That makes you better than most of my college teachers. LOL.
    There something thou that I miss on your simulations (I just call your videos that way to describe the content, not to undervalue them) and that is THE INFLUENCE OF A COACH.
    Before watching this video I watched your video "That If - Michael Jordan went to the Trail Blazers In The 1984 NBA Draft?". Well, the thing is both Kobe and Micheal had the same coach during their respective championship seasons: Phil Jackson.
    I read Jackson's book "Eleven Rings" some time ago and there he writes how he encouraged Michael (around the year 1989) to drop his scoring a bit in order to let the other members of the team gain selfconficence in their abilities and thus making a better team... and thus finally winning a ring. The Bulls (with Jordan, of course) finally succeeded in 1991 (as you know better that me LOL).
    My point is: Micheal did not win a ring BEFORE Phil Jackson and Kobe did not win a ring AFTER Phil Jackson either. So, it is of the utmost importance that star players like Michael and, in this case, Kobe have the 'right' coach who knows how to guide their egos and make their talents successful. Especially considering that Basketball is a team sport.
    So, the question is here: Would Kobe (or Jordan) have won as many championships as he did WITHOUT Phil Jackson? That would make another interesting video, don't you think?
    See you, pal. Keep up your good work!

    Damn could have won some Championships. That squad back in the late 90's and all 2000-2010 would have put some damage. The squad is not a big starting five as far as size, but they fast, all five can shoot the three, mid range jump shot and throw it down. This is why team management is important, Jerry West and Jim Buss had a vision which is why Lakers today hold 16 championships. Hornets could have been Nastyyyyyyy
