Well presented! This proposal points in the right direction for the nourishment and development of Nigeria's economy in the future. It incorporates measures to provide relief to struggling businesses and the poor while positioning the Nigerian market as an attractive destination for international investments. While there may be a slight dip in revenue in the short term, the proposal creates opportunities for business expansion, which will likely lead to surplus growth in the long run
😂😂😂😂You get it. The revenue from tax won't be that much in the beginning but over time it will increase when pple and businesses can breathe better and also encourage foreign investments
The tax reform exercise should be seen as a necessity now rather than another political permutation to sideline a section of people. Thank you for the brilliant presentation sir.
This tax reform is highly necessitated now. It should be embraced by all well meaning Nigerians. Excellent presentation and analysis by Mr Taiwo Oyedele.
Most Nigerians resisting the ongoing economic reforms of the federal government do not understand what is going on and these includes many journalists, media analysts and even politicians themselves. This is sad.
abeg keep quiet.. will they talk about how all of the have embezzled nigeria’ s money.. is because of them sitting there that’s why we are in this situation
It is really unfortunate. They don’t know that Nigeria is turning a corner and we are on d right path. Their perceived hate for the person of the president is clouding their judgements of the great strides being made by this administration and this includes some of our so call intellectuals. It is really sad.
The truth of the matter is that the rich doesn't pay Tax appropriately in Nigeria. Ndume is not fighting for the poor, its ignorance thats affecting him.
Somebody who did not even go through the documents but arrogantly saying "it's dead on arrival". It's a shame to have someone like him representing a section of the good people of Nigeria.
It was a very nice presentation . I only hope that government would take extra effort to carry every stakeholder and taxation point to understand the new thinking. Our population will add great value to taxation income. The nation should initiate the emergence of middle class once again. This strata of the society is the cash cow in tax payment. If there is enhance security, investments and wider productivity, surely there would be more jobs placement and ability to pay tax.
I'm impressed with this presentation, if we continue to push for the right things in the right direction, it's a question of time, Nigeria will be great❤
The northern elements have softened their stand after this enlightenment session. The legislative process on the tax reforms is ongoing at the National Assembly as we speak.
God bless for making this simple for every one to understand. very simplified for our lay leaders to understand. you can see the captivation on their faces. i pray it is implemented speedily
The proposed Tax Reform bill is a good initiative by this Administration for improved economic growth, development and prosperity of Nigeria. I hope a well meaning Nigerian, who has good interest of this country in heart will embrace and support this proposed Tax Reform bill.
Brilliant and simplified presentation by a master his field, May this tax reform open the gateway to economic growth and sustainable development to bring about shared prosperity in our country.
The northern guys are already softening their stance after the issues have been explained to them. It is actually Lagos that would suffer in the new arrangements not the northern states and the issues have also been explained to the LASG and the governor has accepted the new situation.
@rotimikayode1072 I'm glad you said this, I thought I was being delusional. They were sleeping before, but starred paying more attention when he explained the Lagos vs Other States scenario. It sucks that that's what it took to get their attention, not the idea that it'll elevate the millions of Nigerians over the next few years. Oh well, whatever scores the goal.
This is exactly what the country need right now. I just hope there will be enough political will to approve and implement 100%. Great work to Taiwo Oyedele and team. Good thinking...Good product...
Why this unnecessary debate in stopping the poor not to pay tax and that the rich should pay tax. To me this proposal is good model for me. My personal opinion. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians. Aamin
It's because a lot of us refuses to read, once something is put out, we support the politician that says it's against their people. This president if allowed to fix things may achieve some form of reform that will favour the masses
Think we have great issue in tax remission from the firs unit at various states, they bill local businesses unnecessary and remit to the FG a lower rate. I believe the payment mode and remittance need to be up scaled, improvised on, if tax payers can login directly on an online firs platform to make payment directly, it will reveal high rate corruption in tax remittance and tax sum will improve rapidly
Eastern Leaders shouldn't keep quiet on this. How can VAT on oil/gas and importation go to FGN. Whereby other resources will go to States. I clearly understand what this guy explained. This is the marginalization we are talking about
Will they ever wake up? I doubt it. This bill should be supported by everyone. This could possibly change our economic landscape for good if well implemented.
Most of the taxes being collected from the medium and small scale businesses doesn't go or paid into the Treasury rather into individual pockets for these people to live large and the bigger star businesses pay less or understated taxes by tipping or giving bribe to the tax authorities and that's the bane of the Nigeria tax system.
How much kenya and sauth africa invested in inprastructure Agricultural, digital investment, and energy we nigerian no standard energy either electricity or solid enagey petroleum even in the country no security
I don't have issues with the tax reform, bill, to be honest. A large percentage of Nigerians don't pay taxes, and that's a fact. I recall doing a presentation in one of my courses, comparing Nigeria's development to that of other developed countries. I highlighted two major issues: the government's inability to fulfill its responsibilities and citizens' reluctance to pay taxes. My concern, is that the current government, led by President Tinubu, will mismanage the taxpayers' money without accounting for it, just like they've done in the past, especially with the subsidy money. It seems like they're only trying to generate more revenue for the benefit of politicians, rather than the Nigerian people. Finally, they should Strike a balance between revenue generation and not overburdening companies because last last it’s the poor citizens that will pay the cost(Indirect tax). And also make the process of paying tax digital to make the process easy for tax payers, not creating association of Thugs to tax people Come to think of it, why does Tinubu like Tax increase even when he was a governor he increased Tax to the extend that they tax everything
Let's stop kidding ourselves, as much as there is a need for tax reforms, it is deceitful to say that tax reforms alone can bring about an economic upturn in the country. We must address corruption and wastage in government and then address the issue of local production. We got into this mess with the mismanagement of the exchange rate and doing a direct conversion doesn't provide a true picture. A more accurate way to look at things is PPP (Purchasing Power Parity)
Thats what mainly brought up the agitation here an there with the little we generated what as been done so far its a matter hope let's keep having hope
You got your analysis upside down. It is difficult to steal in the current President's government and the idea of wastage in government today was created by members of the opposition who actually don't understand what is going on but are basing their analysis on mere imaginations and conjectures.
The fall of exchange rate is due to Nigerians moping up the available dollars and saving them in USDT. The CBN governor detected this earlier in this administration but Nigerians have developed a clever way of doing this sabotage without being detected by the government. I understand that the government also does not want to destroy the crypto ecosystem. I hope the government can find a way to deal with this malaise.
As to wastage in government. there is a lot of misinformation around this matter out there. It is very difficult to steal under the Tinubu administration. When people speak against the Federal Government being large, they actually don't understand that what they are asking for is that civil servants should be relieved of their jobs.
Tax is not the only problem but it needs to be addressed. I also believe that the digitalization and harmonization of government revenue system will significantly deal with the government corruption, also single digital identify for all Nigerians.
Northern Nigeria need educated politicians rather than all ignorance illiterate politicians full Senate among northerners, They are in senate embarrassing themselves and the whole Nigeria

Nigeria will soon be like Zimbabwe under Tinubu. The APC government since 2015 brought us here. The very rich in Nigeria are thoroughly corrupted. By and large good presentation.
@peterabrahams5500 The country is undergoing an economic reforms that would transform our economy in the medium to long term. Many of you want instant results from the Tinubu administration. You are never going to get that because our problems does not have immediate solutions. For instance, the government is upgrading our electric power transmission grid infrastructure from 4,000MW to 25,000MW- that is more than six times of its present capacity and it is going to take time to accomplish. More than 30,000 MW of electric power generation are also in the works as we speak. That way too will take time as it takes on the average five years to finish a 1000MW power plant.
@peterabrahams5500 The power plants infrastructure will start coming on stream within the four years of the start of the projects and President Tinubu is still running around looking for more investors because 25000MW grid is too small for a country like Nigeria. Nigeria needs 120,000MW and that would costs around $120Billion but our entire national budget for Federal, State and LGs is a paltry $34Billion. So you can see why those who have been opposing the President for his travels are actually misinforming members of the public. The amount of misinformation in the media these days about the government is alarming.
@rotimikayode1072 Thank you Prof! Yawwnnning aaassooop I am feeling sleepy! Do you know that one egg if you must eat it cost N250 in most urban centres, this was the cost of almost a crate of eggs in 2014 @ N10 per egg. A fowl now cost 15, 000.00 Poultry fowl, a fowl not a ram! As at now a measure of beans costs N6, 500.00. You Emilokan Tinubu supporters do not know what Nigerians are going through! Even if it is cash you will cook and eat three times a day you and your immediate and extended families have enough to eat for the next 50 years may be! Talking of survival not even living talk less of electricity!!! God have mercy. People are dying of hunger and malnutrition in Nigeria!!! God Almighty deee ooooo!
PeterObi said it that you can't tax people who are not productive like going to a bank to withdraw money when u don't have any there but they said "na statistics we go chop" 😂 now they're looking for statistics to chop 😅
