Gave that old DnD t.v. series feeling, didn't it? A shame more people didn't get the opportunity to experience the sheer epic of those games when they were still up to par with many standards.
Lorewise, Kalimdor was undiscovered at that point, so since their "known world" consisted of just the Eastern Kingdoms, it might make sense for them to refer to that large gulf west of Khaz Modan as a great sea (or a part of the great sea that they hadn't yet fully explored). Gameplay-wise, it was the only in-game sea back then (and the name makes it sound exciting for the people waiting to play a game which introduces naval warfare to the franchise :) ).
The music in WC3 and WoW Vanillia really played a big part in setting the tone. The campaign maps where small, but the music gave me the impression of how vast and ancient the world is.
@@KingLich451 vanilla was a chance to really discover the World of Azeroth. It was a REALLY long journey with many perils. The game reminded us that we have to work as a team to get the quests done 😄
I've no idea when I first watched this video, but it's time to do it again. It's been so long I'm alway from Warcraft lore that all the nostalgia just came back and I feel the need to consume it all. Thank you!
I’ve watched your Warcraft game movies a few times now. Even over the years where others have created them, this is still the best version on YT. Thank you.
Something I kinda miss about the Alliance that was in Warcraft 2 was how, although warriors of light and the good guys, they could be just as merciless and vicious as the Horde. They would put Orc heads on pikes, minor peasant uprisings were met by the blades of the knights, they razed the capital of Alterac to the ground with no mercy, and they were a very desperate alliance of nations that didnt really get along united only to fight off the Horde. Stormgarde and Gilneas left the Alliance shortly after victory lol.
2:31:54 my second-favorite bit of dialogue in the whole series ("the traitor king!" "who, me?" "they were referring to me, death knight" is my favorite). The foreshadowing here, the descent into madness, Arthas is already blinded by his ambition. Chills run up my spine hearing it.
@@AnMComm I worded it poorly. I was saying that the bit at 2:31:54, "this howling wind cuts to the bone, and you're not even shaking. My lord, are you all right?" as foreshadowing. It's my second favorite line of dialogue in the series, maybe my second.
Thank you very much for this. I started with Warcraft III only to play DotA. Then moved on to WoW but never really grasped the lore. This was very entertaining and the next time I play WoW I will appreciate the game even more.
This is awesome. This was exactly what I was looking for at it was perfect from start to finish. Thank you, thank you for making this! It must have been a lot of work... Truly, you're brilliant. I'm going to watch the second part tomorrow...
Thank you for making these videos, I finally understand the story of the game I've played for years, and now look forward to actually being involved in the storyline of WoD.
I can perfectly imitate the Orc narrator in Warcraft 2. It’s fun to read along. It’s even more fun to have the music playing without the audio, and narrate it myself.
Dingo dyno Coming from a lifeless WoW fan. Doesn't really hurt, but props for just using the same insult back to me, really helps prove that you are a WoW fanboy.
Andrew Black what an idiot, I'm guessing you can't read well, look back at the comment I posted, it says W1-3 > WoW, meaning I like Warcraft 1 through 3 better, I hate WoW, wow ruined the Warcraft series and I will never touch that game ever, Warcraft 1 through 3 represents what Warcraft was and should still be, don't you feel real smart now
A truely mastered idea from you, something what many people have beem wishing a some time. I have always been interested about the lore as long as i have been playing the game series, coz i started at vanilla, i never have been getting the real whole story what i have been wanting. tried to read, watch some lore videos one from that and one from there, it didnt give me the whole picture of the story. Now i got the story of warcrafts start, characters, everything what i was wishing a long time. THANK you from your great work, nicely edited, completed and mastered a video, what will be come as a legend.
i remember feeling feeling pity for arthas when i was playing warcraft, how his too much good intentions brought about by his responsibility as a prince turn him into evil. such a tragedy.
a talented, young dude who wanted good, but the temptation of a dark force was too much for him. A bit familiar... For me, Arthas was a special guy from the very 1st minute. In my mother tongue, "Ártasz" (familiar pronunciation) means "you hurt (us, some1, etc)" Foreshadowing at its finest
dude, you´re my hero. Thank you very much for putting all these amazing material together. Now anyone can enjoy the fantastic lore of Warcraft without having to spend weeks playing the games.
This is so nostalgic that I don't really know what to do, hahaha! Thanks for the upload. I am currently drawing posters from the different stories. Great having this in the background for inspiration!;)
Just finished watching this today. Had to watch it in about 3 sessions because I didn't have the endurance to watch it all in one go! I used to play WoW a few years ago and I had never played any of the previous Warcraft games. Now I feel like I must have missed out on so much of the lore having not played through these games :( I really appreciate that you've edited this together. I can't imagine how long it must have taken you to make it.
Thank you for doing and compiling this! I knew Warcraft 3 was the biggest influence on World of Warcraft, but I was curious to see what 1 and 2 looked like/what they set up narratively
awesome job gathering all those parts together; they really fit perfectly and made my night. i can hardly believe how much work you had doing so. congratulations and keep up the good work
Good day, the story is unbelievably long and complex. Jumping straight into WoW without all this knowledge makes it appear a confusing mess of a storyline, which it is not. Although I found it a little too late, as I already watched other gameplays of Warcraft II and always skipped to the story parts, I thank you for this video! It might be helpful as a story recap in the future. P.S. That's a great name for a RUclips channel.
i hope you do, this vid is awesome, but i never was much of an mmo player so i really dont know too much about what happened since frozen throne. the entire lore in one (ok, 2) vids is really cool. tnx for taking the time to do this!
i remember when i first played warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos back when it was first released, i was simply amazed by the quality of the cinematics! it all looked very realistic to the standard then. And the music was so epic! Plus the storyline, it was easily one of my favorite games in Warcraft franchise.
I've watched this two part video on the entirety of the Warcraft universe (up to that point) at least 4 times before and now I will begin the 5th. Gods I'm such a nerd. Still, it's excellent background fodder to keep myself on task when writing up DnD materials and in need of a fantasy focused mind.
2:45:30 It really is an outstanding moment. The shocking betrayal, Arthas' dialogue, it's delivery, even the graphics of the time, how it was edited. They made such a leap from Warcraft II.
I love this so much coming back to WoW for the first time in years and so happy to see the game still doing so good. Amazing characters. Amazing story. My childhood in one video
Ah just what i needed! a 4 hour movie about a game that i spend too much time playing. Well screw you assignment that's due tomorrow i'm watching this!
Although earlier games completely miss triggered events and in-game conversations, I would have liked a few glimpses of action from those missions too. Nice video nonetheless!
I love this! this is Well Made! I wish they would make an HD remake of WarCraft I and II. I want to be able to play it again! Or a Version where it will work on my computer. :)
I never played Orcs and Humans, but I remember the old Warcraft II games on Mac that I had with my brother and friends that lasted up to or in some cases over 3 hours sometimes on Garden of War. Everyone sending peons / peasants to start small bases both to take the goldmines and to start cutting into the centre mine...Of course a lot of times it devolved into spamming sappers / demolition teams and sending them in to clear the path. And if I recall correctly, Gold Mines actually had health and you could destroy them, though it was hardly worth the effort attacking the mines because of the insane amount of health they had.
+JohnPepperoni1 No its actually from the game itself.. When you complete a mission in Warcraft where you see the score board or some stuff.. He sometimes says: "If only these humans could fight as well as they DIIIIIIE" And it sound fucking awesome.. You can go play the DOS version if you google it ^-^
Great video so far. I like how it is hd, not like the rest videos with this cintent in youtube, also great is that not only the cutscene were shown, but the important dialogues during the gameplay itself. GREAT! the only comment I have is that the gameplay of WC3 and the cutscenes are a bit dark, the contrast is not set so good, but it is not a big deal
No, they were two fantasy and sci fi IP's that got popular around the same time, and both had "war" in the title. I see no further DIRECT similarities, and never have.
They just weren't into advertising them. I see volumes. Much like the lord of the ring. So many tales from all races and all interesting , exiting an unique. Not to mention the wars are dam good, as we see in this video. The novels come with the WOW game right? Some bookworms won't buy the game just for the novel most people don't even know how good the story is, as they are not gamers. Regardless I'm getting my hands on those novels thank you man!
I still remember playing vanilla WOW and being blown away by the under city. How intricately it was reconstructed. Stromgarde (RED) for the win (in WC2).

Warcraft's opening quote: "Welcome to the World of Warcraft."
Seriously epic foreshadowing.
I was just thinking that and just read your comment OMG!!!
Gave that old DnD t.v. series feeling, didn't it? A shame more people didn't get the opportunity to experience the sheer epic of those games when they were still up to par with many standards.
yeah, too bad now the World of Warcraft is a cheap Hollywood action flick
Legit soothsaying

Gay.
I like the way that zombie arthas regards his former paladins so little that he declines to even talk back to most of them.
I like to imagine some kind of Hawk trying to capture Medivh while he is in crow form.
I love what you did with the maps and the camera panning, prior to each game. Bravo!
Watching these is a Christmas tradition for me

i was too young to even understand wtf i was supposed to do in this game. but i enjoyed playing it
Great job, thanks for this
Culling of Stratholme is the best moment ever for me
I still remember playing vanilla WOW and being blown away by the under city.
How intricately it was reconstructed.
Stromgarde (RED) for the win (in WC2).
Good voice impersonations of the horde in the two levels from Warcraft 3 (Riders on the Storm and The Fires Down Below)
Nostalgia overwhelming!
Guys i still has several questions
How ner'zul, a death knight raised by Gul'dan, become Lich King and how the scrouge was born ?
Nerzul was not a death knight. Nerzul was the mentor of guldan. He became the lich king or jailor of the damned because of the pact between him and the burning legion. The scourge was born in icecrown and spread through eastern kingdom to make way for the invasion of the burning legion. It was supposed to weaken the defenses of azeroth
Ner'zhul escaped through one of the portals he opened, but found Kil'jaeden and a Doomguard welcoming party on the other side. The demons captured him, forced him to cooperate and turned him into a ghost animating a suit of armor frozen into ice.
