I just have my leopard geckos tub on top of my mini fridge and it keeps it at 80-88f. His main hide is right over the fridge vents, he loves it. Obviously a happy gecko
people say that he talks to much and does not get to the point but hes just trying to give you all the information you should know when getting a new animal
Reptile Carpet is fine for leos (that's what I keep mine on). It is possible for the reptile carpet to become a little stringy so if you see your gecko trying to walk and it gets it's foot caught in the strings, that's a good indication to take that one out and get a new one. I also noticed with my carpet that one side of it isn't as stringy as the other so you could flip it over too. :) Hope that helped!
Please do not use this advice. It is very bad. They live no where near sand. They live on hard packed dirt but mostly rock. It is VERY bad for them and is fatal. Heat lamps stress them out. Heating mats are best. Please do what's for these animals and do not own them if you can't properly care for them. Many scientists and vets who really care about these animals have proved it. If you were going to be shut up in a small box wouldn't you at least want proper care? Not half ass. I'm sick of people commenting about inadequate care for these animals, you are only making a fool out of yourself. If you claim to be a professional than actually properly care for these animals. There is literally no argument! Facts are facts!
+Virgoline +Riley Corkery most members of the Eublepharidae family dwell upon dry temperate zones, and are allowed to do so by "adaptations". The evolutionary origins of this family said to have had their most regulated allostasis in areas around 30 degrees North latitude. Majority of its' derived genus are situated in south-western Asia (Middle-East). These are deserts.
Not using surge protectors doesn't make sense as if you're trying to prevent a fire there's a fuse built into them that takes the sudden increase in voltage so the device doesn't, meaning less risk of fires vs socket.
Holy $h!t lol you have one serious setup/passion for leopard geckos. You are more than likely a breeder. Good info, already knew these things but I watch vids and look up info to keep learning
You shouldn't use a light for a leopard gecko, at all. Their eyes are really sensitive to light, so it just hurts their eyes and stresses them out. I had a light on mine when I got her for awhile. She wouldn't ever come out of her hide when it was on her. Literally as soon as I switched to a under tank heater, she started coming out and exploring and became alot happier. Plus you honestly don't have to replace an under tank heater hardly ever, but you'd have to replace the heat lamp's light bulb fairly often.
First, that's not true. Only the Raptor morph of Leopard Geckos are sensitive to light as their red eyes are reflective. Second, stop trying to act like your sooo smart because it is SUPER annoying when people try to act like they know it all. Nobody likes a know-it-all. That's not the way you get attention.
Eva Tamcsin keep your panties on they were giving helpful critique Jesus people these days. No one likes people like you plus th wry have sensitive skin it affects all I don't know where you got that raptor morph fact but sorry to burst your bubble 'know it all' but that's not true it affects all Leo's not just raptor morph.
i dont think big sand grains will cause impactions...i think small ones will because they'll eat a lot of it and it'll make a slurry concrete type of mixture
No no no no sand at all because no matter what it will be in a clump because sand will take water and come together so no matter what sand it is DO NOT USE IT I WILL SAY IT AGAIN DO NOT USE SSSSAAAAANNNNNDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have my tank on my wooden desk but the desktop is like 1/2 inch thick so its gonna take a lot of heat to catch it on fire A LOT OF HEAT. Also my heat pad is on a timer It comes on at night cause its winter here in KS.
2 things. 1. Can I use a heat lamp with tile without having a heat mat? The heat lamp should heat up the tile so it's still warm from the bottom even when the light is off. 2. Can I use tile for a Ball Python? I want to know because tile is easy to clean & looks good. I don't have a Ball Python but I'm planning on getting one so I want to know if I can use tile.
No, you'll still need a heat mat. I'd use aspen bedding for a snake so he can burrow. I have a corn snake (not the same snake, I know, but to my knowledge aspen is great for all types of snakes).
Thanks for your awesome vids i now have my first baby gecko "Spyro" i started. Mealworms farm months before I got her in prep my question is if the are not in the fridge but in the farm are they all ready gut loaded? I keep them well hydrated and lots of oats wheat and chicken feed for food. Hope im on the right track!
What thermostat you said you use? I am looking for a good one to control heating from heat mats for my dubia roach farm. I have a microclimate on/off, it does work to a certain extent but I need something constant without disturbing the surface temperature so much.
I was wondering if you have any more information about leopard geckos because I am getting one and I want it to have the best life and also do I have to feed it roaches because I don’t want a roach loose in my house
Hi, does anybody know anything about heat rocks? Im waiting on a complete set up but the pet shop insists on heat rocks as part of the package. I have heard that they could be dangerous. The set up also comes with a heat lamp and a tiled floor so i could also just use that and heat the tiles as in the video and leave the heat rock. What would you suggest?
+opforce killaHD There are strip mats at the back. People say this at the shop I work at, but how to you expect to see a mat when it's only on the back end and under the tub? lol.
The whole room is heated I'm assuming. This guy is giving out incorrect info, watch Leopard Gecko(a RUclips channel with correct care) instead, she actually does her research.
Take his word of advice “ he does not have one himself “ so don’t take his word for it. If you want to know more about leopard geckos, go to a library and do some real studies or buy a book online and put some effort into it.
Sasobek! I am getting a leo soon and am so confused on heating temps. I have a zoomed 4 watt heat pad connected to the zoomed thermostat set at 95* F. which is covered by a hide. It's not that bright though, it has like a dim yellow tint. My warm side air temps. are like 88* F. with all three of those heating devices and cool side air is 75*.
i realy want to just feed my leo mealies and other worms coz my mum does not want crickets in the house if gut load them propley and crush the head so there are dead can i just feed them plz anyone help
Great explaining on what they need. Sounds simple enough to care for them. I have the powder, I have turtles at the moment and I can't use the powder for them, so I have to spray their food. I could use the powder for a gecko then. I wouldn't have to throw it out.
Sand should be avoided at all costs. Do not use sand! Heat lamps are irrelevant. They probably do more harm then good anyway. The light could hurt their eyes.
correct me if i m wrong and apologises for my english..as i can see you have many geckos who are living pretty fine, with good colors, healthy into plastics tappers ..so in my opinion im not a breeder and i dont even have one but im into getting one just collectin info..if you have a 10 gallon tank (for one pet) with his sand in it and etc must be very happy and it can live there for the rest of his life..right?
What size tank should I use for my adult leo because right now all I have is a 10 gallon.. I'm really thinking about getting him a 20 g minimum??? any advice is welcome.
in your racks do you use sand or eco earth? For my gecko i use sand that you can buy at pet smart. i've had my leopard gecko for 4 years and i was wondering if i should use tiles instead?, i usually change and clean the tank every 6-7 months.
ok i know this is gekos but im asking about haeting pads for garter snakes....im getting a tank pack with the tank, heat pad, day light, and substrate about the light and heat pad the tank is 10 gallons and the heat pad is fitted for the tank should i put the heat pad on a timer for night and the light a timer for day someone plz help me this is my first snake im 12 and i just dont want to hurt him i am a real animal person and i would be devistated if some thing were to happened to my snake
So, i use fine yellow sand for my gecko's. Is that a bad idea? i've never seen them eating the sand. They are about 3 month old now. Should i use tiles instead of sand? what would you recommend me to feed my 3 month old geckos? Right now I'm feeding them crickets and sometimes some spiders (I live in Denmark, so they are not poison or anything). By the way, you have some really beautifull geckos!
Hey, my leo has not been eating for almost a month and i have been feeding him critical care and he's getting stronger and putting on some lost weight, though he still refuses to eat live insects and only eats like one per day at most. I use no substrate and have provided him with no vitamins and D3, just some cheap calcium carbonate i got on ebay. I have fed on him mealworms, wax worms, some dubia nymphs, once or twice on mealworm beetles, mealworms pupa, and wax worm moths. What i did wrong?
So on my warm side I have a heat pad and it usually makes that side around 82 degrees is that too cold? I will put the heat lamp on for a while to warm it up a bit, but I am concerned if that makes my cold side warm. Also I have LED lights to light up the cage is that bad for the gecko maybe could stress him out?
Okay. HI. I am kinda worried about my gecko. I just got her 5/11/13 and it is 5/15/13 and she still hasn't pooped. I don't know if she is impacted or what. She is a juvenile, and probably about 5 to 6 months old. She eats fine, and drinks. She is also beginning to shed... Does this contribute to why she won't poop?
@Mrhackgrech No that size is not bad for one leopard gecko the main problem you might have tho is heating it and maintaining a warm side and cool side & the humidity. But as long as you can control the heat/humidity you should be okay. You might want to add a lot of vertical climbing things/plat forms but try to save as much space as possible.
Nowadays there is "Calcium Sand" which actually is not sand, but powdered Calcium carbonate. It is supposed to not only not cause impaction, but provide extra calcium and soft, "sandy" surface for geckos to talk on. Check out my vid. I have also added two flat rocks that can easily fit 3 leopard geckos each for basking/give them an alternate surface.
Don't use heat rocks! They have been known to over heat and burn the animals stomach and feet. The lamp would be better as it's connected to a thermostat (it 's the most important piece of equipment ) this way it can't over heat. A heatmat is better but the lamp is second option
I just have my leopard geckos tub on top of my mini fridge and it keeps it at 80-88f. His main hide is right over the fridge vents, he loves it. Obviously a happy gecko
I usually don't comment on videos, but this was a great and informational video. Thank you for helping me choose the equipment for my geckos.
people say that he talks to much and does not get to the point but hes just trying to give you all the information you should know when getting a new animal

Fantastic information dude. Thanks for taking the time. I'm looking at getting a leopard gecko and I've picked up some great ideas here.
You sir
are genius, been watching ur videos for about 2 hours now u really make me want 1!
Please do not use this advice. It is very bad. They live no where near sand. They live on hard packed dirt but mostly rock. It is VERY bad for them and is fatal. Heat lamps stress them out. Wrong!! They live in the deserts
+Dg reptiles Herpier you are wrong. They are from rocky areas
Dg reptiles Herpier Wrong!! They don`t live in deserts. Do some research

But not sandy ones
Not using surge protectors doesn't make sense as if you're trying to prevent a fire there's a fuse built into them that takes the sudden increase in voltage so the device doesn't, meaning less risk of fires vs socket.
I think what she means is that Leo's are fun to have and after awhile you just cant have one you want more to keep as a pet
Holy $h!t lol you have one serious setup/passion for leopard geckos. You are more than likely a breeder. Good info, already knew these things but I watch vids and look up info to keep learning
the animal might swallow the little pieces of the sand and it might go in the eyes giving it a infection on its eye.
I love the eye on your wall
I didn't know Alex Tanguay was on the Hartford Whalers.
You shouldn't use a light for a leopard gecko, at all. Their eyes are really sensitive to light, so it just hurts their eyes and stresses them out. I had a light on mine when I got her for awhile. Lillith Parker Because you probarly have your light 24/7 on
First, that's not true. Only the Raptor morph of Leopard Geckos are sensitive to light as their red eyes are reflective. Second, stop trying to act like your sooo smart because it is SUPER annoying when people try to act like they know it all. Nobody likes a know-it-all. That's not the way you get attention.
They need light to know when to wake up I swear. Like a soft light just to let them know when it’s night and day. I’m probably wrong 😂
Definitely Expos because you can negotiate! Also, Its fun to get out of the house and do something.
You can look up leopard geckos that are for sale and match them with theres. At first feed them mealworms and 1 to 2 crickets per week.
thank you for posting this vid im pretty sure that if i get a gecko he or she is gonna do great
best place possible is reptile shows
Some use sand, some use old newspaper. Well that is not big deal with the gecko. The big deal is how to make a good habitat for your LG
Ken u have good point.
Thankyou for making such a great such in depth video! This will help a lot
I have my tank on my wooden desk but the desktop is like 1/2 inch thick so its gonna take a lot of heat to catch it on fire A LOT OF HEAT. Also my heat pad is on a timer It comes on at night cause its winter here in KS.
yeah as long as its not to bright for the gecko it should be fine!
Its funny how he says that only one can fit in that big ass aquarium and he puts like 3 females in a shoe box
True
Marcelo Moreno IKR
crickets are a very good source of food for them
yes they need a moist hide and a dry hide
Do I still have to dust crickets with calcium if I have a calcium bowl in the tank
Yes. dust everything in nutrient and calcium powder. Even waxies if you want.
Yes, Leopard Gecko on RUclips has an awesome video on calcium and multivitamins for geckos, go watch it.
All Animals Here thank you
Jordan Memmott but be careful what kind of calcium powder you use my lepard gecko almost died when i started using c powder.
Always dust everything
he has a habit of saying if you will
No, it won't melt it. The melting point for Rubbermaid's containers are around 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Awesome video, man. Great advice.
thank you for the very informative video!
You should never use sand cos they don't live near sand
+Vexx Nebula No they don't. Where they live would actually be considered clay. You don't need to use rude language
+Vexx Nebula the Internet isn't always truthful. Sand is acutally bad. So don't be rude.
+Vexx Nebula That's not what you said, but whatever you say, then I'll go with it.
+Vexx Nebula Sand is not good for them . They don't live on sand in the wild
+Vexx Nebula Why don't you look up: Leopard Gecko Natural Habitat
So you don't actually need any kind of lighting at all then? A room lighting is enough?
2 things.
I have a corn snake (not the same snake, I know, but to my knowledge aspen is great for all types of snakes).
if the Leopard Gecko is a baby, does it still need to have a fat tail? because most Baby Leo's I see have a thin tail?!
this helped alot i will be getting one soon
what about fine calcium sand or if that still not good?
I feel like I'm cheating on my Crestie by watching this video.
Ok, thanks, that really helps and I am gonna get Repti-Carpet
excellent video thanks so much
Do you keep the geckos in those shelves all the time? Is that all they need?
its not good to feed hem pinky mice you have to give him one or two in a year and they are used for helping the female gecko to breed
I totally was like “what’s that creeking noise in my house?!” Then I paused the video and realized its coming from this hahahaha
Very helpful
Thank you SO MUCH for this informative video!! (:
do you use vitamins?
would a heat pad melt a rubbermaid container?
yup that would work .
What do u do if u want a one of those things in the back instead of a tank?
What thermostat you said you use? I am looking for a good one to control heating from heat mats for my dubia roach farm. I have a microclimate on/off, it does work to a certain extent but I need something constant without disturbing the surface temperature so much.
they are nocternal and feed them daily
I was wondering if anyone has used Sani-chips for their Leos a did so have you ever had any problems with it?
How many times did he say if you will
This guy is a breeder, not a guy that has a pet leopard gecko of his own!
I was wondering if you have any more information about leopard geckos because I am getting one and I want it to have the best life and also do I have to feed it roaches because I don’t want a roach loose in my house
ok I am really confused can i use one hot hide, one cold hide and a humid hide or is the humid hide ment to be for the cold hide
i use a basking rock three hides one on the hot side and two on the cool side and a sheding hide is that good?
That painting is beautiful
Hi, does anybody know anything about heat rocks? Im waiting on a complete set up but the pet shop insists on heat rocks as part of the package. I have heard that they could be dangerous. The set up also comes with a heat lamp and a tiled floor so i could also just use that and heat the tiles as in the video and leave the heat rock. What would you suggest?
so can i do this set up for a baby leopard gecko
Hey, how do you heat the tubs in your racks or how do u run your heat source throught it?
can you feed them stick insects????
if i have paper towles will it go on fire because of the heat mat?
Yes IT is safe to putt rocks in the terarium butt you have to clean IT whit water no soap ore detergent on the rock for the safety. So 😊
It may be fine if the detergent is natural, such as dawn.
is an 18x18x18 terrarium bad for 1 gecko?
My Leo wont eat mealworms i put them i front of his face and he doesn't care about them
lDo they need any lighting like day and night bulbs
Does it matter the size and age for a male leopard gecko to mate
So how do you actually keep all of those lizards you have heated? I see no mats.
Heat cable
+opforce killaHD There are strip mats at the back. People say this at the shop I work at, but how to you expect to see a mat when it's only on the back end and under the tub? lol.
The whole room is heated I'm assuming. This guy is giving out incorrect info, watch Leopard Gecko(a RUclips channel with correct care) instead, she actually does her research.
Nice Video
do you put the wet side/humid side on top of the heat mat
7:00 he starts setting up the cage
Where can I buy the coco fiber?
Take his word of advice “ he does not have one himself “ so don’t take his word for it. If you want to know more about leopard geckos, go to a library and do some real studies or buy a book online and put some effort into it.
What should the temp be set at for the hot side? and for heating all I need is a heat mat
Watch Leopard Gecko on RUclips, her videos have everything you need to know about leopard geckos.
Where are ur geckos for sale at?
Can I use sand ?
4th row down 13 over lol found the eight
Sasobek! I am getting a leo soon and am so confused on heating temps. I have a zoomed 4 watt heat pad connected to the zoomed thermostat set at 95* F. which is covered by a hide. Now what i don't understand is, what should the AIR temps. be? I have a 60watt ceramic heat emitter and a 60watt incandescent bulb for heat/light. It's not that bright though, it has like a dim yellow tint. My warm side air temps. are like 88* F. with all three of those heating devices and cool side air is 75*.
is vita sand ok? would appreciate the reply thanks. :)
i realy want to just feed my leo mealies and other worms coz my mum does not want crickets in the house if gut load them propley and crush the head so there are dead can i just feed them plz anyone help
shit... i just got my first lepoard gecko today and im using calcium sand...
Is tht shirt weha whales??
i give mine 1 every month
correct me if i m wrong and apologises for my english..as i can see you have many geckos who are living pretty fine, with good colors, healthy into plastics tappers ..so in my opinion im not a breeder and i dont even have one but im into getting one just collectin info..if you have a 10 gallon tank (for one pet) with his sand in it and etc must be very happy and it can live there for the rest of his life..right?
Is a 80cm Long 40cm high And 40 cm Deep Tank ok for 2 leos?
Yes, I'd say so.
Thx for the help I'll try to get one eventually
This guy is giving out incorrect info, watch Leopard Gecko(a RUclips channel with correct care) instead, she actually does her research.
I know I watch her a lot.
xX Sybrotron Xx me two
