Ah thank you! x
Just what I needed Emma as I was ready to plant every single seed with excitement! Thank you for reigning me in!
Hi Emma still no luck on the allotment on the phone to Alistair none empty yet got 63 toms in pots and cabbages lettuces sprouts don't no were to put them all only got tiny garden never mind 😊
Courgettes in March !! Hope you have a ton of room in your lounge Emma because they're going to be huge or dead by May 😄
Courgettes ? What a good idea, looks like I'm going shopping tomorrow... I'd have thought courgettes were exotic type veg's, you've convinced me, gonna give them a go... Thnx again X
Great video Emma, thankyou you really do keep us motivated with our plot
So glad I keep you motivated! x
As a landscape gardener of 23 years now,I liked this video. 💯👍
Seed craft is an awesome idea. Thank you. I have a young child and a full time job but want to grow my own veg and it is a great option for me.
Just found your channel today Emma and it’s perfect timing. I’m in Yorkshire in the UK and about to take over an allotment this week. I’ve never had one before so it will be a big learning curve. I’m hoping to grow both flowers and veggies on the plot. I too am scared of spiders so the job of clearing/cleaning the shed will be solely down to my other half. I’ve already got a lot of seedlings that I autumn started and I can’t wait to plant these out after the last frost!! I’ll be interested in following your channel in future.
im in yorkshire aswell, we've had our plot for about 1 month now, wouldn't worry too much about spiders, im not a fan of them either but i get the wife to deal with them haha. She has these plants called creeping tyme which is meant to be good at keeping spiders away, got some in the potting shed and ive not seen a single one.
Yorkshire allotmenter here
@@NelsonsAllotment seriously? I’ll have to get some of that. We’ve cleaned/cleared the shed out and it looks fabulous. I’m also going to spray round with peppermint oil spray to deter them as I hear that’s good too
@@hayleysawicki882 I’m going to mine today to put a few sacrificial plants in to see how they cope as I hear there’s a problem with rabbits!
@@Tea_and_thyme_2012 If you plant carrots and if you manage to catch you, you have a very nice complimentry veg for the stew. haha. :)
Really enjoying your video it's like a new you this year lol brilliant.x
Haha! False sense of confidence maybe... lol! Give it a few months and you'll see a video called "it's all gone wrong!" Haha! x
Wow, you have really got a good head start with your seedlings! I must up my game 😊
Great video! 😃
I'm just trying to get ahead of the game this year! x
Love to watch your vids and your comments but not much idea about gardening xx
Love your Cardi Emma ,love The Nursery bit it’s so exciting, those Toms are looking well promising, You know they are all going to need potting on at the same Time Thank’s to ole Ma Nature but hey you’re allotment is like the Mother Ship ! You’ve done loads already,Have you ever tried Hyacinth Beans Direct Sow few of those they need Trellis or your shed Something totally different. I’m trying all Seed grown for everything for the first time this year 🤞🏽✨🕊✨❤️✌️
Love your vlogs Emma, you always make me laugh especially with the spiders! Not a fan either. Thankyou for all the tips. I used to live in Abbey Wood, SE London, but now live in southern Scotland and the growing conditions are so different! My sweet peas are about 2inches high now, waiting to pinch them out. Looking forward to the next video. x
Emma, this is amazing. I left an Abo. Greetings from Germany 🙋♀️🌱
Sown my sweet peas in toilet roll tubes (only takes a few weeks to collect enough .from 4 of us not just me 🤣) and they are already 8 inches tall and you just plant them in the tube straight into the garden .👍
Great video as usual. In tomatoes try one called Sungold for cherries and Kellogg’s Breakfast in beefsteaks. They’re both fab
Amazing and very informative you are becoming a real pro
Great tips Emma I'm going to plant some veg this year nothing like freshly picked from garden to dinner plate
Oh yay! There really is nothing better than fresh produce! x
OH my! I cant wait till we are sowing! I am waiting for the tomato time! as they grow so fast I dont want to rush and then have no way of keeping them all healthy and frost free! Its so hard this time of year as we really want everything to be soon! I cant wait to sow them but 2 more weeks for where i am!
Great video Emma, Spring is an amazing time of year and it's easy to become overwhelmed with all the seed sowing! Good luck with the verbena, do they need dark to germinate though as I'm trying them this year? Happy sowing! 🌻🌷🌸
Thank you Emma. You make me smile! Your enthusiasm is infectious and I love it. I want to grow beautiful sweet peas with long stems, any advice? Keep posting 😊
Oh thank you! There are certain varieties that have naturally longer stems for picking! x
Wow! Thank you for replying. I’ll look for some longer steamed varieties (no luck in previous years!) my father grew the most FANTASTIC (18-24 inch) sweet peas for my mother, unfortunately I never asked him the secret! I’ll send you a photo of the result….if successful!
Gratefully, Duncan.
Hiya Emma oh soo appreciated a wee visit with you and spring thoughts, why? It’s snowing again here in southern Ontario Canada whaghh lol blessings Luv 🇨🇦🐝
It just snowed here in England so don’t feel too jealous of us!
Lovely video 👍👍
Great video Emma 😊 laughed my head off the other day when you were eating something in the poly tunnel and nearly poisoned yourself X
Great Video , your enthusiasm is catching ... Im now going back to my new allotment tomorrow to get some more jobs done ... Already brought my seeds and looking forward to March ... Where can you buy your planner ?
Hell Emma if your like me I use toilet paper rolls to start my seeds once you plant them out it will break down in time , I hope you will put a p o box address up soon ?😀
Hi Emma love your video very interesting lv Irene 😘 xx
I am a new subscriber and I just wanted to say thanks for the videos. Please do get something soft to kneel on though, cos I'm saying ouch your poor knees when you are older!
Emma, thanks for the video - please let us know where the gorgeous jumper is from! 🙏😍
Great video, can I ask where your jumper is from? x
I don’t have loads of windowsill space, thinking of making a little greenhouse for outside. Would putting them in there count as starting them “inside”? Love the channel!
I'm not totally sure. I think maybe not for things like tomatoes, but peas and brassicas should be ok! x
Love your videos Emma, and love the jumper you're wearing even more!!! Where is it from please? :)
Emma, would you think loo roll inners are tall enough to sow sweet peas in? Just thinking of recycling them instead of having to buy pots to sow the seeds. Looking forward to sowing everything soon!
I just came here to comment about the loo rolls for sweet peas! I’ve seen a lot of other garden youtubers recommend them x
Yes 100% I always use loo rolls for my sweet peas. Sit them tight in an old ice cream tub and fill them with soil, add the seeds and they grow amazingly well. You can then plant then straight out in the rolls as they bio degrade
A little tip for you Emma , if you allow a courgette to grow into a marrow , the plant will stop producing because it will think it's reached it's seed reproducing task , which applies to most plants .

I couldn't see any drainage holes in your egg box container. You don't want your small roots to be waterlogged. I've made the same mistake before.
Just be aware that seedlings can go leggy if deprived of light
Hi Emma I got your planer its very pink maybe a blue one as well next year for the boys with aeroplanes and tanks on it LOL 😂 just blue then.
Lol, yes it was originally designed for personal use but I thought I would stick it on amazon and see if anyone else wanted it! I'm already planning next years and it will be less girly and more original! x
Hi I will be planting my king Edward potatoes end of next month
Exciting times! I haven't grown them before! x
@@emmasallotmentdiaries I grow different potatoes each year that's all I can do in pots with a small back garden
Informative vlog Emma 🌱
Emma, great video. Did you soak the sweet peas. I had a disaster with germination last year so this year I am going to soak overnight first to see if they makes any difference.
No I've never had to soak sweet peas before, they've always germinated fine. But maybe this is the year I need to try that! x
What potting mix are you using please?
Hi Emma could you pls tell me where you got yr arch from in yr allotment
Do I have to plant a whole packet of seeds eg carrot ,leek , or can I save half to next year . Thank you
You can definitely save them for next year, or to succession sow later on. That way you'll get more harvests! x
@emmasallotmentdiaries thank you. Been given a lot of packets of seeds , bit overwhelmed . Defo save them now I know . Thank you, great video , nearly planted somethings to early , over enthusiastic
So some now and some more in a few weeks time creating a succession of crops 🥕🍅
Emma I trust you are using a kneeling pad otherwise in later years you will find you get squared off knees that look as if you have kneeling disfunction. Take it from one who has this problem and if overseas on vacation you will know when someone looks at your bared legs and makes a silent comment . They know !!
I have one but I'm bad at remembering to use it so thanks for the reminder!! x
Trade or work trousers with padded knees. Highly recommend for any kneeling down in the garden and try them on before buying to make sure fit in the right place and fit well too.
👌👍💚x
Hang on ! Your telling me you have a house? I thought you lived at the allotment 😂
Haha! If I could move into my shed (and move the spiders out) I would! x
Honestly you’ve helped me so much so far. I love the way to put it into simple terms
