I have a small back yard, it seemed like overkill to buy a lawnmower with an engine. This is easy to carry in and out of the basement through the bulkhead. Very sharp (be careful). At the back of the mower are little wheels, which I use when pulling the mower backwards, so it's easy to readjust direction. Thank you very much,. A lot of the companies have gone out of business and there are a few that are VERY expensive. I would see if Calfornia Trimmer sells in Canada or if there might be a way to get one up there. I just bought this one in the video used and they also make a 25". I expected these to not be very good since the price is very good for what they are. They are MUCH better than I thought and very precise. I hope this helps but even old machines can be good so look on your local gumtree or craigslist. Best wishes and thanks for watching.
Not personally. But it seems like a lot of people start with them and quickly change. Take a look at the new Allett models here in the USA. I am very excited that they are so feature packed, more affordable than others and actually have dealers across the US too for help. ruclips.net/video/1Gzttrn9P0c/видео.html
I really like the California trimmer much more than I expected. Easy to use and simple to run.The versatility of the California Trimmer reel mower is a great fit when I want stripes and a clean cut. It's fun just using it and i like how it looks a lot. My only complaint is that I wish I had found a 25" version for my lot since I got this one used.
You can cut lots of different grasses at low heights it really just depends on the amount of time you are willing to put in. I keep me Kentucky Bluegrass at .6" year round and it handles it great!
That is true but most often if you are reel mowing you are probably keeping up with other controls for that but if you are just starting out and have heavy weeds collection will be a better choice. I have a mulching ha bagging video that covers this further.
You forgot another important downside of Reel mower is you need to do lawn mowing frequently! Really literally you have to spend 4-5 times time in the yard ! See people who are doing lawn mowing on RUclips they are 24x7 in their yard doing lawn mowing! Nothing wrong but it’s not possible if you have full time job etc. it’s time that takes to do reel mowing !!!!!!
You can reel mow less frequently provided the reel mower can cut at higher heights like the California trimmer and Swardman units but for those cutting very low, yes you can be mowing 3--5 times a week. Great point, thank you for mentioning this.
Its true that it helps conserve water and grass of course naturally would grow to 6" and beyond but you can cut it almost as short as you want given the proper water and treatment.
I know JUST what you mean I did the same thing. It's a new world but can be exciting and you don't have to go to 1/4" there are a lot of options. Keep an eye on my channel for some new videos on this that will show you a lot of good info to help.
The facts you make about real mowers maybe true about the 2 you tested but not about all, Alletts Lawn Mowers, 🇬🇧 from the nation that has banned all the chemicals you put on your lawns, 1 mower all the jobs, easy/fast cartridge change = 1½ ish min depending on which model and the world class lawn care and cut to. 😃😃

Point is, what mower do you suggest to get a nice golf course grass with easy to maneuver machine for a female. A good quality mower. Please help
Get the cordless model.
depends on budget . Cant go wrong with Ego. Reel mowers are more difficult to use , cost more and maintenance may be an issue
You could have mentioned push reel mowers which are considerably cheap.
Also reel mowers are not good for cutting very tall grass.
Great educational video. Do you know if there are other companies that sell reel mowers? Many years ago Sears sold one.
Michael from Canada
Thank you very much,. A lot of the companies have gone out of business and there are a few that are VERY expensive. I would see if Calfornia Trimmer sells in Canada or if there might be a way to get one up there. I just bought this one in the video used and they also make a 25". I expected these to not be very good since the price is very good for what they are. They are MUCH better than I thought and very precise. I hope this helps but even old machines can be good so look on your local gumtree or craigslist. Best wishes and thanks for watching.
Michael Bradley try Allet or Swardman.
McClane
have you any experience with the mclain line of reel mowers?
Not personally. But it seems like a lot of people start with them and quickly change. Take a look at the new Allett models here in the USA. I am very excited that they are so feature packed, more affordable than others and actually have dealers across the US too for help. ruclips.net/video/1Gzttrn9P0c/видео.html
I dont even have a yard its 1am what am I doing
Sooner or later your pride reel mower is going to hit a rock .
Which reel mower do you use most? Great vid!
If you want a cylinder mower buy an allett or your missing out.
Why would I need to buy a secondary mower just buy a rake
Why would you want to cut it short? I was under the impression that the longer the better
I made a video to help decide what height is best, this might be helpful: ruclips.net/video/sW654SenSog/видео.html
which deere model is that?
looks like 220a
What grass is cut less than 2 inches?
Bermuda
You can cut lots of different grasses at low heights it really just depends on the amount of time you are willing to put in. I keep me Kentucky Bluegrass at .6" year round and it handles it great!
Almost every grass can be cut that short with the right care, some need more than others but it can easily be done at home.
Collecting weed seeds is better with a reel mower.
That is true but most often if you are reel mowing you are probably keeping up with other controls for that but if you are just starting out and have heavy weeds collection will be a better choice. I have a mulching ha bagging video that covers this further.
How its named this decoration grass (this tall one )
A whole video on it here" ruclips.net/video/CptKylzKo00/видео.html
Frequency has everything to do with height and how quickly your grass grows, and exactly nothing to do with reel vs rotary mowers.
I thought you're supposed to cut grass long??
It depends on the kind of grass mainly
Its true that it helps conserve water and grass of course naturally would grow to 6" and beyond but you can cut it almost as short as you want given the proper water and treatment.
Mürdered my lawn by cutting low. Shit. Be careful.
In the Netherlands reel mowers cost under the 100 Euro's ;)
Wow! You definitely don't find anything like that here for that price.
A super cheep manual push reel mower YES. Any powered one? No
Cylinder lawnmower is the traditional one then came rotary. Look up history of lawnmowers if you don't believe me.
👍🏿🔥
Your reel mower cutting does not look any better than your rotary.
The stripes in this video are crooked and amateur.
I don't like at the royal palace. With kids and a job I am thrilled to have my lawn where it's at.
More of a promotional than informational but ok.
Great informative video!
Thank you
