Here we go again with an unbelievable R&B Classic Hit, JOE Simon a True Soulster on Every Level 💥💥💯, Drowning In The Sea Of Love is to this DAY a very Deep Soulful Rhythmic Masterpiece😊.
My grandma had a night club and I remember all of this music. Thanks for the wonderful music and memories. Have a peaceful journey, Joe. I know that he went on to become a minister and no longer wanted to be associated with this music but I still love it. ❤️❤️❤️
One of the things I miss the most about the 70s was there were so many male Soul/R&B singers/groups who had their own distinct voice. You could easily distinguish Joe Simon from Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Barry White from Isaac Hayes, Michael Jackson, Al Wilson, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Teddy P, O'Jays, EWF, Ohio Players, all the Temptations lead singers, Tyrone Davis, Rick James, Billy Paul, the Isley Bros, Stylistics, Manhattans, Lenny Williams, Chi-Lites, Spinners, Frankie Beverly, Bill Withers, etc. I'm sure I missed a couple. But I think you get my point. All of these cats I mentioned had their own vocal sound. Too many of today's popular singers seem to follow the same model, it gets old real quick.
I forgot to include two more of my fave Soul Singers, both descend from the Sam Cooke Soul Tree: Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Womack. Love, love, love they way Taylor and Womack sang. Like I said, so many great singers who gave us so much timeless great music.
+greg battles Funny how music becomes you. Thats just putting it mildly. Took it to college many years later. Was able to expound on this classic soul genre.
I think of my old folks back when having a good times the memories tho my mama oh how i miss u so much but yeah this is a joe simon cut!!! #acratethrowback
The conviction of Joe Simon's voice to the emotion is what sold this song. it;s a good song, but he was the frosting on the cake the propelled it Billboard #11 general chart. Back when fewer radio stations made sure people of all backgrounds got to hear music of all kinds in one place rather than separate all of us from each other with millions of specialty stations and tell us (brain wash) what we prefer rather than letting up make up our own minds.
because the lawyers and business freaks, that also includes some musicians, are dictating what will make money, not make folks groove. the music industry is circling the drain. we can save it by no buying crap and supporting hard working artists who can deliver
Retired after 40 years as a DJ on the radio. The last boss was 30 and the music director was 28, they never heard of Simon and don’t care to. My retirement didn’t come a minute too soon.
Beautiful thank you for being real so much needed in today's world with all this hate among us because of our present situation with the government 🎗🇺🇸‼
Hello, Bernice. I came across a video on RUclips about Black musicians who recently passed away, with Joe singing this very song. I’m 42, and it was the first time I ever heard of it. Great song. R.I.P.
I've been down one time And I've been down two times But now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love Let me tell ya all about it I've been out here so very long, I've lost all my direction Baby when you came my way I thought I'd found my protection But a strong wind came into my life, surely took me by surprise And I can't seem to control these tears that's falling from my eyes I've been down one time And I've been down two times But right now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love Listen to me Baby I depended on you, for our love and obligation But now you gone and deserted me, can't you see that I'm in desperation I'm in the middle of a bad love storm, ew yeah I just can't let it boy I Looked around and all I could see, was water coming over me I've been down one time And I've been down two times But right now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love All I do is cry, all I do is walk around and cry But right now I'm drowning, oh I'm drowning in the sea of love I've been down one time I've been down two times But I can't control myself, I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love But that's alright, I don't mind drowning for your love That's alright baby, hear me when I say it's alright You got the kind of love that make me feel alright You got the kind of love baby that make me cry all night long You got the kind of love baby make me do things I don't wanna do Songwriters: Kenneth Gamble
Reminds me of my cousin, Darryl from DC. He and his mom would drive to PA to visit us. I remember Darryle would sing this. He was crazy and funny and he and I and my brothers would have the best time when he visited. Haven’t seen him since we were kids.
I watched my mama back when this came out and daddy hurt mama. Now my 34 year old son is being saved just like mama was saved . He asked " how dod you know what I'm goin' through?'. I told him JOE SIMON.
Reminds me of my Grandmother and fam in the early 70s. His voice was so powerful that I as a 7 year old thought he was an old man. Turns out that he was only in his 20s then. Crazy

+catboyzee This new STUFF this age listens to; is quite redundant. I agree the voices and sounds are non-distinct.
+catboyzee Awesome take.
You're right, you only missed a few. Ron Isley, Lenny Williams, Tyrone Davis, Wilson, James Brown, etc.., love you, though!
James Brown!
I forgot to include two more of my fave Soul Singers, both descend from the Sam Cooke Soul Tree: Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Womack. Love, love, love they way Taylor and Womack sang. Like I said, so many great singers who gave us so much timeless great music.

Classic music can never be denied can you dig it I know you can 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Thank you for such wonderful music. Rip Mr. Simon🙏🏽🕊🕊
Why can't music sound like this nowadays?
because the lawyers and business freaks, that also includes some musicians, are dictating what will make money, not make folks groove. the music industry is circling the drain. we can save it by no buying crap and supporting hard working artists who can deliver
Because nowadays sucks!!!
It could but the people in charge wouldn't put these people on. Shame.
It can just insert guns drugs and the high end life style and boom
Retired after 40 years as a DJ on the radio. The last boss was 30 and the music director was 28, they never heard of Simon and don’t care to. My retirement didn’t come a minute too soon.
His best song. I hope he didn't die I wish it was a . mistake .

I've been down one time
And I've been down two times
But now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love
Let me tell ya all about it
I've been out here so very long, I've lost all my direction
Baby when you came my way I thought I'd found my protection
But a strong wind came into my life, surely took me by surprise
And I can't seem to control these tears that's falling from my eyes
I've been down one time
And I've been down two times
But right now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love
Listen to me
Baby I depended on you, for our love and obligation
But now you gone and deserted me, can't you see that I'm in desperation
I'm in the middle of a bad love storm, ew yeah I just can't let it boy I
Looked around and all I could see, was water coming over me
I've been down one time
And I've been down two times
But right now I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love
All I do is cry, all I do is walk around and cry
But right now I'm drowning, oh I'm drowning in the sea of love
I've been down one time
I've been down two times
But I can't control myself, I'm drowning, drowning in the sea of love
But that's alright, I don't mind drowning for your love
That's alright baby, hear me when I say it's alright
You got the kind of love that make me feel alright
You got the kind of love baby that make me cry all night long
You got the kind of love baby make me do things I don't wanna do
