I used to own one of these units and i absolutely loved it. I wish i could find another one. But what i really loved about this unit was it has the peak meter levels sometimes when your listening ear is too used to the sound your don't have to come back late😂😂😂 U could just measure that peak to that lil solid line i think it was like the 16th mark and everything would be leveled and perfect plus u didnt have tohave signals coming in too hot. I think around 12 to 18 DB and you were good to go.... But the mew version of this unit the DP-32sd or 24 isn't like that. Dont get me wrong i love the new unit but You have to get those signals up and you have no way to measure those signals and keep them levels in check. If you have another way around that on the new unit please let me know.... Thanks for posting
Good start Mr. Mike 👍...I'll be interested to hear the finished product. Honestly, I wasn't aware that my 2488 even had an onboard drums. That said, it wouldn't have made a difference to me as my creative process was a little different. Oh and for what it's worth, in my 9 years of 2488 recording, I NEVER had an issue the panel plugs.
Hi Mike I used to follow your tips about the DP32/24...I lost interest in the unit..... as I believed it was over complicated.....I'm currently looking at getting the 2488 so would be interested if you start a dedicated lesson channel for it ...good luck guru.....from the UK
I read online that the 2488 has a better sound when recording than the DP machines. I also read that it was better than both in some ways. What is your opinion on comparing them?
So far, there are some interesting features on the 2488 which I wish were still around on the DP 24/32 (General MIDI, Time Signature Changing). The Virtual Amp on the DP24/32 is better. I'm still working on stuff with it so I won't be able to get a definite answer at the end of this recording.
I agree. There are some different features on both machines. Another thing about these 2 the compressors as well. 2488 only have one compressor but do32/24 have its own compressor per each track but it's compression going in but there's also final compression which is great
I've still got mine after all these years. Still love it.

Cool. I have a large project for all three machines coming shortly.

I wonder how this compares to a roland vs recorder
I've never had a Roland recorder. If I find one at a good price, I might get it.
@MikeFoerster how is the file transfer to computer on the Tascam 2488? Does it use .wav format? The roland does not unfortunately
@descargamusicalny I haven't done any transfers yet. But every other digital TASCAM I have does WAV files. I'm going to assume this does too
